Also 'Gallente weapons in 40m' is a really generalist statement considering an ion pistol shot won't even travel 40m before disappearing and if you're trying to tell me the plasma cannon and shotgun are good at 40m I think you're beyond help.

Personally I think I do alright with a full Caldari setup, but then I'm one of those people everyone hates that uses a Sentinel Suit with a Assault RR. I think it actually fits the Cal heavy pretty damn well.

Caldari would win, they have the most weapons (rail rifle, sniper rifle, magsec SMG, bolt pistol, forge gun, nova knives, AV grenades). Quantity aside, the rail rifle is probably the most all-around useful light weapon; good DPS combined with amazing range. Caldari suits are also very good if you know how to take advantage of modules like shield energizers.
Amarr only have 3 weapons (laser rifle, scrambler rifle, scrambler pistol)
Gallente automatically loose because all their weapons ind of suck (assault rifle, shotgun, plasma cannon, ion pistol, flux grenade)
I would be tempted to say Minmatar could win if it wasn't for the fact that most players don't know how to use the suits properly and take advantage of the speed. Minmatar have a very decent weapon selection (combat rifle, mass driver, SMG, HMG, flaylock pistol, locus grenade)

I think it breaks down for each suit differently.
Heavy: Minmatar probably. HMG is terrifying. Caldari Sentinel with a Rail Rifle wouldn't be too bad but the HMG is just a monster at defending or attacking enclosed areas. Forge Gun is great too but not so great for killing lots of dudes at once.
Scout: Gallente. Shotgun Scouts are quite powerful with the cloak. Minmatar Scouts would cry over the Nova Knife thing.
Logistics: Fairly even for Support; they are still more interested in the equipment bonuses. For Slayers, probably Caldari. Rail Rifle and high EHP is sexy.
Assault: Look at the bonuses I guess. Extra ammo for the Combat Rifle is great, so Minmatar is a definite plus. Plasma Rifles are very meh so not Gallente. Rail Rifle is good but the reload bonus is meh. Amarr makes Scrambler Rifles terrifying as hell. So a close call between Amarr and Minmatar.
Commando: I think Minmatar on this one. Mass Driver // Combat Rifle is something I think would be better than Rail Rifle // Swarm Launcher/Sniper Rifle or Scrambler Rifle // Laser Rifle. Plasma Rifle isn't bad but is not as good as the others but Shotgun is terrible on slow characters and Plasma Cannon is terrible.
So I think it would be Minmatar = Caldari > Amarr > Gallente because Caldari are now the only AV guys and Minmatar and Caldari probably have the best Rifles in the game. If Minmatar would be taken as being better than Caldari, I would think the two would be very close. Amarr is fairly close to Caldari but Gallente is quite a ways back. The only truly great thing they could do is Scout with their various close range weapons.

As for the Matari, they'd get smashed after wining against the Amarr because they don't have vehicles or AV, which would cause this to become a Caldari vs. Gallente war.
Then the Caldari would win because:
- Gunnlogi > Madrugar
- Rail Rifle > Plasma Rifle
- Forge Gun > They don't even have a heavy weapon
- 80GJ Railgun > ALL
- Forge Gun > Plasma Cannon
- Thale's TAR-07 Sniper Rifle

Are you suggesting that the Plasma Cannon is better (not situationally more useful, but better) than the Swarm Launcher?

Wasn't suggesting the plasma cannon was better in any way, or that its good at all, so don't put words in my mouth. My point was that weapons of the same type and category should be compared against each other, the forge gun was not comparable to the plasma cannon since the forge gun is a heavy weapon, yet Atiim compared the forge gun directly to the plasma cannon; its like comparing an HMG to an assault rifle.
You should compare light AV against light AV, and heavy weapons against heavy weapons.
