30 mil SP, Proto Heavy and Scout, with Vehicle skills as well, but I don't even have all my cores maxed. :'( I have most of them, but I'm really lacking in the Biotics skill tree. ;_;

I'm ~34 million SP and I currently only have 1 protosuit. If I spent the 2.5 mil unallocated then I could have 2 but all the rest of it is in weapons and core skills. Proficiency skills are expensive.

Almost two proto suits on top of my proto knives and I got less SP than you with advanced SMG and swarms to help me adapt. Again, you spread yourself too thin. But that's ok. You have every right to be the jack of all trades but master of none. XD
NOTE: Uplinks, Active scanner operation not listed.
Wut? You are a long time vet and 18mil SP? There's an approppriate gif out there which i can't link since I'm on the phone but it goes something like this: A man with a moustache and blue suit waves his hand with a pen and says something along 'I don't something something you' :D

That is mostly the problem, the 5 th proficiency point cost alot with those two you would have got youself almost a protosuit they are at 750k sp. Kudos for raising your core skills ! I am at 31 millions and have 2 protosuit since respect and only one weapon level 5 the scrambler rifle, now i dont even use it anymore and that is sad cause i would have transfered those to vehicles.
Inany cases watch out for those last points that would raise other areas of your merc better. Spend wisely and do the maths! |

Until 1.8 this was a viable strategy - I didn't spec proto until 15 mil SP or so. However racial suit skills matter a lot more now so you really should have at least one suit specced to proto if you have 20 mil SP. It doesn't matter if you never even use proto suits, you need to invest the SP to get the bonuses when using standard or advanced suits. |

Awry Barux wrote:20 mil- would have left my suit at ADV but you really don't see much benefit from scout bonuses without Scout V. I had no proto suits prior to 1.8, but now I gotta have that cloak fitting reduction.
Even before 1.8 it was worth Scout 5 for me - for the range bonus and I didn't need dampening 5 (unless I was planning to run proto gal with 4 complex damps a single basic with damp lv3 was all I needed).
Anyway 24mil now and still only got gal scout to 5 (only points is DS command)- I rarely use proto, though admittedly in 1.8 it's worth it.
Trouble is, I finally have everything I need - I don't want to Invest more in weaponry until CCP calm down with nerfs/buffs...
If they reduced the cost of complex kin-cats though....

I Did the same.. Was around 18-20m SP i got my first Proto suit.
in EVE online there is a saying about being able to "Sit" In your ship or actually "Fly" it. Referring to the skills and proffeciencies to actually Fly that Ship Hull rather then just have enough skills to sit in it... Not use it well.
Works here in DUST aswell. ADV suits with core skills maxed are beast. Proto suits without core skills and modules to support it.. Is just a waste and doesn't yield results.
The Learning curve of working with the same weapons and modules you'll use on a Proto suit allowing you to gain familiarity and knowledge of the items, but with an inferior suit.. also simulates a learning curve in DUST allowing your player skills to improve by virtue of the competition you are facing and thriving in. |

Amarr Scout, and I don't/won't cloak. The bonuses are pretty negligible above ADV compared to expense.

I think I'd say the tipping point is at level 4. Otherwise I agree that the few extra percentage points of bonus are not a big enough return on investment. The 1.2 million it costs to get to level 5 is probably better spent elsewhere for most people unless you are planning on actually using the proto suits themselves.

A little over 27 million sp and not a single suit at proto. That last level just doesn't seem worth it.
Cores got pretty much maxed out first, and my strategy after that was to put points into the weapons and suits I have a Std bpo for that I actually liked. AR, SMG, Sniper Rifle, Laser Rifle. After those I'll take Amarr and Caldari Assault suits to 4. Then I have no idea. |

I have enough free SP at the moment to get gScout 5. But I'm looking at my core skills and wondering if I should finish off the range amplification first. The scout bonus is nice, but i don't see myself really needing to run the proto fits.

non specialist so I do it all except drop ships cause I still need level 3 to unlock ADS. And crossing over into vehicles is a huge SP investment as well with all the support skills they have.
prefer having lots of options as opposed to be only a tanker or only a proto assault with full proto gear.
