Played against a Minmatar Sentinal that ran almost as fast as my Caldari Scout last night. Almost as fast and more than twice the HP. It was scary.
I have ~8.0 sprint speed. He must have had ~7.5 or more. |

Because of the low slots, gk.0 is the best for speed tanking, in my opinion. Try three kin cats and one cardiac, all complex, and you'll sprint over 7.5 with very good stamina and stamina regen. Tons of fun, but you have to stay near a Logi to rep you. |

Speed tank as far as this is concerned isnt so much about dodging but rather maintaining positional advantage (or as best as you can) people definatly dont expect a heavy to run around at 7m/s
The common arpoch to countering a heavy is to outmanuver it, and when you have that much spoeed they oftin make mistakes by underestimating the amount of ground you can cover while they make their set up manuvers.
its best to act slow while in LOS, then when they lose LOS to you use your speed to set them off guard, try to force them to overcommit to the point where they move too far out of their cover expecting you to be stuck outside of range and then charge in and watch them panic.
against other heavys you will be able to adopt alot of the tactics lighter suits use against heavys, manuvering, positioning, and playiing range games to edge out more dps and better strafe speeds while maintaining your own ability to rush back into cover or retreat to a better position.
in closed in tight spots the speed doesnt really come in handy but in open ground like line harvest and manus peak (fracture road as well) you can really make use of that extra speed to throw a wrench into peoples plans.

2 kin cats and 2 armor reps on a gal sentinel puts you at a sprint speed of 7.07m/s and passive reps of 13.5hp/s if you have your skills up. This is plenty for me, plus the wildcard of armor damage resistance to projectiles and hybrid rail weaponry. |

PS movement speed isn't that big of a factor because if you aren't sprinting you are shooting or catching you're breath...you will still out strafe complex armor plate tanked heavies anyway. |

Consider the Caldari sentinel. It doesn't need any plates to slow it down, has incredible shield regen and when you get bored of HMG it also makes a crazy good AV forge suit because of the insane amount of high slots. It sounds like you want to run solo so it's really that or Minmatar. The others are best when combined with logi. |

Since my focus is on SPEED. i think that even if the Gal Sentinel could achieve higher speed levels at proto level PLUS have Armor rep, the 40 stamina regen of the Minmatar is the perk i need.
So Min with 2 cx Kin cats is the way to go. At 7.70 speed , 4.2 movement speed and 40 stamina regen makes moving around way too easy...
Thanks for the help everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Yeah, but how much stamina regen does that leave me at?Whats the point of running +0.10 sprt speed with -0.4 Movements speed and -25 stamina regen? Plus only 2 armor rep per sec for an Armor tanker..
thats the problem here......

I have ~8.0 sprint speed. He must have had ~7.5 or more. I have seen a heavy out-run my scout (and our whole team) - was well past any speed I've been able to achieve with kincats and heavies.
Note: Likely not Sentinel, since the base frames are faster...

Im missing just ONE High RoF weapon, the HMG. The HMG is a BEAUTIFUL weapon, sadly ( and thankful in the name of balance) My Gk.0 Scout cannot use it. Now i cannot run in anything that runs below 7 at Sprint speed i JUST CANT so i come here to the Forums to ask for some advice, see what people think i should use for a SPEED TANKED SENTINEL.
Im thinking the best 2 options are the Minmatar and the Gallente Sentinels The minmatar because of the natural Speed advantage and the Gallente because of the NATURAL HP repair and high amount of LOW slots. Im looking for a sprt SPEED AT LEAST over 6.5 (best would be 7) and SOME basic level of armor repair. The Armor repair DOES NOT NEED To be very impressive, but at least 1 or 2...Speed is of more importance. The idea is to function as a Big fat scout, running behind enemies , shooting at them then ''hiding'' while i recover some HP, rinse and repeat.
Any opinions for this wannabe heavy?
You're asking for a hybrid speed/stealth/attack heavy? Such a combination does not really exist. You can get one of any three, possibly two of them with lesser preferences, but all 3 is just nonsense. You'll need at least 2 dampeners for casual "hiding" and 3 catalyzers or so to "Run", also one low slot for a repair or energized armor. That's about 6 slots predetermined... if you can even fit that many slots.
If you can read this, it means you are reading.

no, nonono./i never mentioned Dampeing. I just wanted to MOVE fast and Attack fast.
As it is my default heavy suit is
M/1 series Heavy frame 2 Complex Kin Kats 2 Comples Precisio Enhancers Heavy MG SMG
Go to town with 7.70 sprt speed. LULS. This crappy fit can take out proto med/scouts with relative ease, and the 4.2 movement speed has helped while killing OTHER heavies with EHP values of Over 1500HP , considering i run this heavy with only Level 5 armor and shield skills and no HP modules...well. It does pretty decent. 28-7 / 30-8 / 15-4 / 33-9 etc...
(Some people have told me to SHIELD tank instead of SPEED tank it, but i can do fine with 900HP. i usually run a 300HP scout...)

You fit is an optimal speed tanked Heavy.
But, mine has the advantage that it does not need to be Proto to run at 7.7 ;)

I would say that was probably me, only I use a Minmatar Basic Heavy Frame M/1 .... no bonuses and still super deadly. I either run 2 complex dmg mods and 2 comp ferroscales OR 2 comp shield extenders and 2 comp kin cats (this fit hits 7.71 m/s).
Out-dancing shotgun scouts whilst drilling them with the HMG is so much fun I don't use much else nowadays.

I-Shayz-I wrote:Minmatar sentinel is 6.7 sprint speed with one complex, 7.44 with two
As for gallente vs minmatar...yes the gallente has an armor repair bonus, but the faster shield recharge, and more shields on the minmatar is better suited for speed as the gallente will be good in the first encounter, but get screwed over in the second.
The thing is, the minmatar doesn't have the option to completely speed tank. If you do that, you're wasting 550 armor that would be more use to you if you could repair it back.
However, minmatar regens stamina like CRAZY, so while you might not move faster than a gallente with 3 sprint mods, you can recharge your stamina faster and sprint whenever you want instead of having to walk around slowly aiting for it to recharge. ________________________________________________
Now for the HMG
You're looking at a weapon that practically immobilizes you when you fire. Because you can't sprint and fire your movement speed is what you're relying on, and the minmatar again wins in this category.
However, going up against other HMGs will be difficult, as the winner of an HMG duel is who fires first, who gets the most headshots, who can deal the most damage, and who has the most health.
Pretty much what that means is that the minmatar suit CANNOT go face to face with other heavies and survive easily. UNLESS you use the burst HMG.
Why the burst? Well unlike the standard one, you can deal an insane amount of DPS with one burst (we're talking enough to instantly kill std or advanced suits, or a proto if you can land a headshot). That's not the main benefit though...
The burst HMG allows you to move around while you're fighting. Burst, sprint jump, burst, hide around corner, pop out, burst, run away...
It's very similar to a shotgun because of this, and works well as a counter against scouts too. However, keep in mind that the burst is only good in 1v1 matchups. Unless you are really good with it, taking on more than one enemy will be suicide. As long as you stick to engaging one enemy at a time, the burst will do all the work for you, and absolutely melt other heavies that you will no doubt have trouble with.
I was warned about the Burst HMG in PC due to lag, but I used it anyway. I got absolutely destroyed by everyone I saw. It seems like there is a bit of a delay in the weapon firing or something. Then when it does fire you've shot your load somewhere other than the target.
But in pubs, the burst HMG is amazing.
