It depends more on the color/lighting scheme of the surroundings. Usually when it's a brighter environment, it's harder to see cloaked scouts, but when it's darker cloaked scouts show up like fireflies.
"One does not simply" look for a scout, it looks for you.

Cloaks are OP as hell and need a hard counter and higher fitting requirement your should have to choose between a cloak and RE and HP and firearm.
Cloaks cost as much, if not more than other equipment it's level even at lv5 scout.
Cloaks are the only thing the scout role bonus applies to ( as opposed to any equipment like logis, or any weapons like assaults or any splash damage like sentinels - hell that one is completely passive, they don't have to equip anything). If we do not equip a cloak - we have no role bonus.
I'm sure I'm not the only scout who would rather have cloaks deleted than have my whole role nerfed around it.
OT: the contrast on my ps3 games is a problem - was the same with Mass Effect (Xbox is fine apart from Skyrim...). because of it, I have trouble keeping track of a cloaked scout against bright/sunny backgrounds but its really easy to see against a dark background. I know a lot people don't struggle to notice me even im stood still in a corner.
My issue is because the visibility of he cloak varies from screen to screen as well as eye to eye, it's difficult for me to factor in environment/terrain/lighting in my stealth efforts - I wonder if in some specific situations I'm better off not activating cloaks...
The technical issues on top of gameplay issues make me think CCP don't have the ability to balance cloaks in a way that will keep most happy ( obviously, some people just hate cloaks in principal; those guys will never let the matter drop).
I agree with what somebody said before - train yourself to notice unusual movement (or just the unusual) rather than specific shapes and colours. I think I trained that kind of thing playing old games where interactive/moveable objects looked different from background objects - if that makes sense.

Funny.
You always claimed to be a tanker pre 1.8. Saw you constantly in rail gun tanks. You lobbied extensively for rendering fixes for railguns. Seems suspiciously like a tanker.

It's really, REALLY not that hard.
1. Turn up contrast and colour. 2. Notice that all your games look better because this is the equivalent of a "dynamic mode" which is better for fast-paced movies as well as gaming. 3. Realise that those "sneaky invisible people" are suddenly, magically no longer anywhere near as invisible.
Alternatively, there is another possibility which you also missed.
E) Your TV sucks. Upgrade. |

If you can't see anyone in a BRIGHT, BLUE SHIMMER then you're probably in need of better glasses or something. the OP invented glasses tho. he is my optometrist

My contrast and colour are always up My TV doesn't need an upgrade it's already 1080p.
Your arguments consist of nothing more than 'it's not that difficult honest' , which is null and void because each person is different hence you can not make this arguement for everyone.
Which instead means your arguments translate to, "Im fortunate because I can see them, ****you all", we can at least say it's a cloak and that is why as per its design it is difficult to see.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

Monkey MAC wrote:My TV doesn't need an upgrade it's already 1080p. 1080p doesn't necessarily mean quality.
The first HDTV I had was capable of 1080p, but it refused to work properly with the 1080p setting on the PS3, and kept refusing to work every time I restarted the PS3 or turned the TV off and back on unless I turned it down to 720p. It worked fine with a friend's Blu-Ray player when we tested that, but not with the PS3. And at 720p, even with colour and contrast turned up, games looked washed out and it didn't seem like that big an upgrade from my 32" SDTV.
My current HDTV is a good brand, and it works really well, the colours are clearly visible and everything looks amazing. When I play Assassin's Creed, I can wedge Alta-ü+»r into a corner so I can zoom in and have his daggers filling the whole screen, and instead of getting pixelated edges, I can see the Damascus patterning along the blades. When I play DUST, well... I can actually see things properly. Apparently that's an issue for some people. |

You can't always see scouts , but if you're standing still you can spot the shimmer. I don't have a problem with it, but what I have noticed is on certain maps and moods, the shimmer is very difficult. Whenever there is a light coloured ground with bright blue sky... the shimmer blends in very well. they are easy to see on dark backgrounds like any of the urban tilesets. As we're stuck with low-res tilesets for a while the only tweak I can see would be to change the shimmer color (if this is even possible)... |

I was in FEAST(an alliance Que-sync against ourselves) and i heard an enemy scouter rage at me "how the **** did you see me?" You're blue, and you're 2m away from me and i JUST got hung op on your leg. How do i NOT see that?
Also, it's pretty funny seeing scouts just stare at you when they're caught.

It's a silly argument. Cloaks make it hard to see people most of the time. Not all of the time, but most of the time. If they didn't people wouldn't be using them and there would be few more kills from scouts than before. Neither is the case.
Because, that's why.
