Hi guys. A casual 20m SP dustie here.
I just had my daily match, and got stomped again. So far so normal. Instead of de-pressurize by a juicy rant, I want instead to use my rage and hate and despair, and channel it productively.
What is your best tactic, when you get stomped?
Mine was so far to get into solo scout/sniper mode, keep putting an uplink infrastructure around a chosen objective and snipe guard it. If the enemy chooses another place to milk the team for WP and ISK, I make a quick hack and gtfo. So I want to die as little as possible, just to not give them the kills. In domination and ambush I dont see any chances, so the only thing left is sniping (now that the forge is a non-entity the only thing left for that is the SR). But I see that this is lame, so are there any other alternatives to go 1/15 and get so annoyed that you wont ever play again?
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

Don't play solo, best tactic there is. If you are ever so inclined to play solo I recommend stealthy picking off playing running to/from objectives. As an alternative to this you could always spawn camp them at a CRU/uplink. Nothing upsets a protobear more than being spawn killed. Chances of you winning a match while playing solo is slim to none, unless you just so happen to be on a team with mostly full squads. |

I play solo most of the time which includes being stomped every second match.
Personally, in every match I use a Scout suit to set up uplinks with nanohives in locations that are suitable for blueberries to get into the fight without being spawn-trapped and also suitable for AV (hence the nanohives). When my team gets stomped I try to keep the HAVs from our home-spawn with an AFG and support any blue advances by periodically changing to an assault suit. If the next supply depot is too far away I'll just charge in with the AFG. CQC-Forgegunning can be fun.
Generally the presence of a well positioned AFG is enough to keep the enemy HAVs from the top of the scoreboard which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the stomp. |

OP you want tactic?
Get yourself scout with shotty. Fit 2damps and cloak (or 1 if gallente) and you can kill everything.
Btw more stomping is good.. i lastly cant find good proto squads on other side :/. More proto (enemy side) means bigger payouts, more fun, also small amount of deaths (if you can play as a scout, 1-4deaths max) |

Winning is not the important thing for me. I just want to have a fun fight. In my experience that is, the more even the match is, the more fun it is. And I have made a promise to myself: Never quit a match because of getting stomped. Find a way to adjust instead, find a tactic that is fun and viable.
So today I didnt play solo, but that just made it worse, because the squad did tend to stick together and got wiped that much easier. 6 casuals < 6 proto-corpmates (molon labe, btw), every time. So guerilla seems to work better the more fragmented it is, because the only way to stand a chance is quick-hacking. Killing seems to be out of the question.

Step 2 is to think of a counter strategy within my means and then enact it. This can be something as simple as taking a sniper rifle to destroy hard to reach uplinks to cut off enemy reinforcements or painfully using your ADS as a decoy to keep the attention of 3-6 tanks off your infantry for the entire duration of the match.
In the case where half or more of my team decides to give up and snipe in the redline, I show my proper respect to blue-tards and glue my crotch to their scopes until they are killed by counter snipers. Zoom in on this you bastards.

Even, close matches are much more fun. I enjoy squadding from time to time but usually when that happens, our side is too well established at the beginning of a match and it leads to redlining.
When I solo, I always drop uplinks in the beginning of the match then switch to knife scout. On my Minnie I can OHK any medium or light with a charged swipe, whether they are proto or militia. And in many matches, if the other side is clearly stomping/redlining, they get overconfident and sloppy, allowing me to sneak behind them and slit some throats.
REs are fun too. And jihad-jeeping if there are too many enemy tanks afoot. |

Profit.
Actually turned the tide of a battle and won it with this suit on the gallente facility recently, the pack of proto sentinels who had been chewing through everyone on my team suddenly had a lot less interest in taking the city. They were substantially less effective trying to hold the outer objectives.

Some interesting suggestions so far. But few I havent thought of yet.
Has anyone something unusual for me? I mean sure, militia redline sniping and shotty cloak is fun, because the rage it entices in some not as resilient as us casuals, and for the lolz. But I mean something really unconventional.
But I see, it seems for the casual player there is little alternative to solo scouting when stomped.

I must be masochist because I love playing solo against a stacked team.
Mainly because I feel it makes you a better player. It also makes you a smarter player.
A stacked team against a crap team will very quickly get cocky and overconfident. And proto stompers that always run shoulder to shoulder are generally weak players. That's why they are always in proto gear and never more than 3m away from each other.
Use this to your advantage. Set RE traps, attack them from the flanks. Kill the guy in the rear and run like hell. Isolate one, kill him and disappear.
If you are on a crappy team, and you don't come in #1 on the killboard, you did not try hard enough.

I go for cheap suits and starters. Usually I grab my light frame UL suit and try to gtfo of the killbox and drop uplinks. Makes WP and helps to learn the maps better. I don't give a rat's ass about KDR and free suits allow you to push hard and make pure profit, with some better mods the suits are very good and cheap as hell. A gal starter with perfect armor skills can get like 500 HP in armor and cost like 10K. Run starter fits for a month and I promise that you will be richer and do better on the field when you go back to custom suits. Don't give up.

Insurgency.
Ill leave miltia nanohives with REs stacked ontop of them in the path of the advancing reds. ill place uplinks at their rear so that my team will spawn and start capturing installations on the other side of the map. Any dropships/LAV I use are also outfitted with hidden REs as an theft deterrence measure.
Often, in matches like that, enemy ADS/tank drivers will have grown complacent towards the end of the match. So in the bottom half, I create fields of proximity mines, and then call in a tank. Most of these enemy pilots are not expecting a tank to be called in the final minutes, and thus, I can rack up damages on them fast.
And, as you can imagine, I plan my route so that my retreat takes me over my prox mine field. So if they start advacning on my retreat, I can get some kills like that too.
Just cause the match is lost does not mean all is lost. Yesterday i destroyed 1 million ISK worth of ADS/tanks in the last 3 mins of a Domination we were losing. It didnt change the outcome of the game, but it put a damper on their victory. Especially that ADS pilot. He was minutes away from going 14-0 with his ADS all game. 3 hits from a rail cannon sent him to the promised land lol. And likely put him in the red for that match. |

Normally I use a Dropship with a Mobile CRU and an Active Scanner.
It allows my team to get places without being stomped, and we can quickly fly to objectives that aren't being well guarded. Not to mention that the gunners can also kill some of the people as well.
This means that if the stompers want to win, they have to split their forces around the different objectives, which weakens their defensive capabilities and allows us to push the guarded objectives easily.
The Active Scanner insures that I don't make the mistake of dropping allies into a trap.

Cloaky scout with SG, CR or RR depending on map, SCP as my sidearm. Sneak in, pick off the last one in the pack, run away. Generally they'll give chase- first one around the corner gets RE'd, then I run again and start from the beginning.
Alternately, cloak your way to an objective, hack and RE it up. They generally don't expect it. I've taken down 4/6 of a Nyain squad this way- got three with the RE on the objective, took a 4th with my BPO shotgun, got HMG'd down by the last two. Worth it.
Basically, play sneaky, use remotes, divide and conquer. There's no way you're going to win, so just try to hurt their K/D as much as possible.

Why not just put cloaks on ADSs, Forgeguns on scouts and make heavies only be able to use sidearms?

Yes you do, so when I see you I order my squad to bring their AV fits (warn them about a known tanker). We have killed many tanks, and some guys, like GP MACHINE just call them over and over for every match.

I just never learn what proto stomping is. They got proto suits, I have proto suits, I use standard sentinel with militia gear, they use proto suits with proto gear, I don't cry if I lose my suits and keep relentlessly attacking mowing them down, just they normally get lucky there is a logi hiding in the back. I normally stay positive in my k/d even if I go through a lot of suit, my amarr sentinel suit is level 5 so I get all the resistance, my hmg is level 5 so I get all the kick, so I guess I'm just using one of the things that can stand up to proto suits with a suit costing only 6k.

But I see that this is lame, so are there any other alternatives to go 1/15 and get so annoyed that you wont ever play again?

get your team spawning on the opposite side of the stomp
That has worked for me. On Ambush OMS, the proto stompers can get so blood lusted, that they advanced out of a good position. All your team needs is a drop link in said good position (and flanking the enemy). Doesn't always work out, but frequently at least turns the battle from a stomp to a bad loss.

My thing is to spawn in a cloaked scout or logi with dampers and uplinks. Load different types of uplinks, so you can have more active at once.
Then go nuts putting the uplinks in places that allow my team to flank.

Damped scout with uplinks, cloak and a rail rifle. A shotgun is nice for blasting people, but you're going to end up dying a lot and not being of much utility to your group. If you can maintain uplinks at a couple defensible positions, you can usually keep your team from getting spawn camped/red lined. The rail rifle lets you pick at the enemies flanks and slow them down.

Circle around their front. Start at their closest points to their base. Take and kill all spawn points. With more emphasis on killing their equipment. Most protostompers use 3 second respawn drop uplinks which are more deadly than the CRU's and are usually in better places then the CRU's. There are usually clusters of equipment and you get +5 each. It can add up decently and still might trigger a swing in combat. |

For the last few days I played less and less. Today I couldnt even bring me to start a match. turned the PS3 on, turned Dust on, sat there, played a match through in my mind, turned the PS3 off. Im just out of beer, so theres a serious problem with this particular tactic
But yeah, I will get myself a nice timeout and reserve my motivation for the SP-boost weekend coming.

Posts like this are, though pretty funny (lol) not helpful. Please specify what exactly this proper squad is supposed to do, if the stomp is going on against them.
If your reply is "stomp them back" ... please specify the tactics for doing that.
