can I ask why you use KB/M on a ps3 game ?
I've been wanting to ask someone...
seriously, no troll.

I don't think it's a myth... You can physically press left /right faster on a keyboard than you could with a controller. The issue with dust is you get near instantaneous response to full strafe speed. This is why we everyone is constantly dancing about.
A kbm doesn't give better strafe speeds, it just makes people more twitchy. CCP should really make some sort of acceleration function on movement inputs to give this game a more realistic and balanced feel. |

it's not a myth, its that pressing a key make makes the person move at full speed where as if I was to move my analogue left I would have to start at middle and pull it to the left which makes it accelerate. Keyboards don't have they accelerate because they go instantly to full speed. |

it let's you change strafe-direction 10 times per-second, this messes up hit-detection - in the end you can put a full AR/ RR/ ACR/ ASCR clip into a Medium-Frame performing this Rapid-Strafe-Directon-Change-Cheat-Dance via keyboard - without him even moving from that position he dances on - and it still only brings half his shields down.
this CCP beginner-mistake is the foremost reason in my opinion why Dust is not a decent PVP-Lobby-Shooter on PS3 yet. |

Perhaps as a personal preference?
Anyways, Cpl Foster you should really try Sniping with KB/M. It's beautiful.

There has to be something to the kb/m because we've tried to replicate the movements with a DS3 every way possible, and we simply can't move like some people do.
Even with four kin cats and speed over 11.
If it's not kb/m, I can't figure out how some people are doing what they do. |

Once again, CCP being indecisive.
Get rid of keyboard and mouse. This is a PS3 game. Let's keep it at that.

Yes, you MIGHT be able to c"hange" direction 10 times per second but it basically means you are STANDING still.
You could wiggle the stick and "change" direction 10 times per second TOO... But you're standing still LOL.
Strafing Works best when you move side to side in a moderate distance. This distance is around the diameter of a std Nanohive. If you strafe in a tighter (smaller diameter) you might as well not be strafing because the bullets will hit your character.
Inversely, if you strafe to long to the sides, it is easy to track.
Because of the above, kbm strafing is no better than ds3 strafing. In fact I'd wager the guy that owned the OP was actually using a ds3 and using the Circle Strafe (moving in a tight circle similar to a nanohive's circumference. And THAT higher method of strafing is EASIER to do on a Ds3

Let me explain to you how to kick a** with a kbm.
1. Purchase trackball. 2. Plug keyboard and track ball in. 3. Profit.

it is not about about any certain numbers, nor about any "theoretical maximum" strafe-direction-changes, it is about ease of use - two fingers on the direction buttons of a keyboard let you change strafe direction way easier and therefore better rapidly than if you try to do it with a DS3 stick - and i think anybody who hasn't started to play video-games just recently would be aware of this.
so, in Dust514 some people strafe the same like a MoFu via keyboard like on PC - which also totally messes up with hit-detection in Dust514 - and while they cannot do this in other video-games on PS3. we are complaining about the results of this cheat-tactic that are just happening here - and not about your personal opinion about if and to what extends it would be possible at all... . |

The ignorance is simply amazing.
KBM apologists should try BF4 on console vs PC. Or perhaps, play quake with a joystick as opposed to KBM.
In all honestly, if you want to wallow in your ignorance, I suggest you play other FPS before making pseudo-scientific, walltexts of utter nonsense. Cheers!

I have tested this theory of keyboards being able to strafe quicker. My conclusion was no it doesn't, i have two ps3's and two tele's one with keyboard one with controller and the strafing speed is the same yea i get your acceleration thing but that all depends on how fast your thumb can switch directions. The thing which gets me is the turning speed on the mouse, i want that on my controller, i used to play cod on insane and bf3 on the highest sensitivity i want it on this game. Then i'll be happy.
