Fortunately I maxed out all my desired Core Upgrades with this event. Only 4 things missing: Drop Uplinks from 3 to 5 as well as all this biotic stuff (except for the biotic upgrades themselves).

They need to chill with the constant SP rewards. Sentinel/Commando events, the two million clone challenge, the triple SP cap event we had just recently... They're handing out SP faster than they're introducing content for it to be used on and players are already complaining of feeling like they've hit the "end game".
One could give a theory that it's to prepare for the introduction of more content in the fanfest build (if there really is one) but I'll be completely honest, any new content we'd be getting right now would just be exacerbating current problems and/or adding new ones that will need to be fixed. We still have bugs left over from 1.7 (sprint bug) and have one very critical bug in effect right now in 1.8 (HP skills/skills in general not being applied on spawn).
Might be the pessimist in me but I don't look at this as good news.

I much prefer "content events" than SP. Hunting Black Eagles was fun and I bet everyone enjoyed either killing them, or killing WITH them since you could try a new playstyle.

I don't even understand how they can label something an "event" even though nothing out of the ordinary takes place in the game. Accelerated progression may be used to reward players for taking part in an event, but it doesn't qualify as one all by itself. |

For those of you on Omegas, if you are so inclined you could get 2000 SP per game after capping out, and you'd only need 200WP per game to do so. Go grind some ambushes after capping if you really need that SP. |

Yeah, all kinds of stupid here: Events like these and bugfixes are in no way related. Heck: Starting the event doesn't even cost CCP time. The scripts already exist.
Also I couldn't care less about these few minor bugs which will probably be fixed by the time the event starts.

An event like this may take 1 dev a few hours to put together since they have done the work already in past event while bug fixing takes a lot more dev time.
These two things are unrelated, at least as far as I know.

there are tons of things to buy .. I have 40 mill sp on my main . n still need skills upgraded ..
but I think they r giving out all this sp .. because .. logi vehicles will be back for 2.0 ... after fan fest///
1.9 will prob be a bug fix all around .. but 2.0 will have more content to spend sp on ..
FYI- just cuz u have sp .. doesn't mean run to spend it.. hold on to it.. u never know what comes out that u might want... or better yet.. u never know whats gonna get nerfed .. so watch what u spend sp ..

Do you have all the other dropsuit upgrade skills on level 5 though? There was no need to max out Drop Uplinks for me so far. I didn't need proto uplinks for any fitting and was mainly using the Templar Dropuplink anyways. So there were ore important skills to spend my SP on.

I think the most active and oldest players may have something about 50 - 60 million SP currently. That IS a lot, but I'm pretty sure they aren't even close to maxing out everything.

same is with EVE though. after 10yrs i've got 143m sp and can use majority of ships in game at lv5 on all 4 races. similar will happen with DUST as it grows. vets will soon have proto in various suits and weapons. i'm alm 47m on here at moment and i have 4 proto suits, several weapons at prof 3-5. there is only 3-4 dropsuit upgrade skills at 5 and thats cos i don't use them (melee, shield regulators ect) i'm just hoing we start to see pirate suits soon (proper pirate faction not liek the covenant) but angel cartel, sansha, blood raiders, guristas, serpentis ect where you need cross trainign to use just as the pirate ships in eve that will allow folk to spend SP better

My guess is to help the light at the end of the tunnel be a little brighter for new players. Give them the impression they can "catch up" on sp or provide a shorter path to upgrades.

For infantry?
All core suit skills maxxed.
At least three to five proto suits.
At least three to five weapons maxxed.
Nothing left to upgrade on suits skills.
Maybe add another less used suit but then no need for boosters since a month of passive and another barely used suit is proto.
Only thing left is upgradeing vehicles for the yawn of missiles, blasters or rails.
Just let passive build up until theres either some laser turrets or motar turrets or autocannon turrets.
Or until June hits and I manage to get a PS4 thats not sold out at stores.
Just checked Gran D sold out, Sorriana sold out and Mega and sold out so time to wait until next PS4 shipment or until June and I purchase a PS4 in the U.S.

That's just the thing though, dude. You have 143 million SP divvied up over the course of 10 years. If Dust 514 proceeded at the same rate, from the time Uprising 1.0 was released on May 14th, you'd have just under 14 million SP. Instead, some players have as much as 50-60 million from Events, Omega Boosters and just generally grinding away after-cap.
I personally have 40,000,000 SP and I think it's too much after only a year in the current build. The entire point of the game is to find a specialization and became the best you can be at that specialization, instead everything is running around with three or more prototype suits and all weapons/equipment/modules at level 5. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing but I've already started feeling like there's nothing left for me to do because I went through PC and FW already and have more ISK than I'm honestly ever going to spend. Anecdotal evidence aside, I don't think we're on the right path shitting out SP rewards every two weeks.
