I really love the Minmatar Commando suit. Plus it's bonus towards one of my favorite weapons is awesome.
But it's way too weak and slow. Plus horrible slot layouts.
A small buff could do this suit justice, either buff it's speed slightly or give it 5% more eHP.
Or it maybe that I am just not fitting it properly.
-Adv CR -Exo-5 MDs -2 enhanced shield extenders -enhanced armor repper - Std Nanohives
I tried running this suit with a Kinkat but I was dying way more often than with my armor repper.
So what are your say on this suit?

You are indeed fitting it improperly.
If you're going to fit extenders, fit complex. Otherwise fit damage mods. It's one of the only suits you can justify it on. |

You're not a sentinel, you're an assault with more offensive potential than defensive potential. Geographical positioning is your ally. You are not meant to soak up hits, you're meant to dish them out. So make sure cover is doing work for you.
Dont have any complex shields as I use to armor tank in the past. And I never stay to defend a place. I'll die quicker if I do that. I just sit behind the frontlines giving cover fire/suppresive fire to my teammates. But the suit is too weak and too slow for its intended role. I would rather have a slight speed buff on it.

Ignore this comment. That's about the worst thing you can do.
If you were going to do that, you would be going Gal Sent because it can do the rushdown heavy much better with its slot allocation and base stats. Min commando can't make it work to comparable levels.
Minimando has three important roles. Masshole camper on point defense is one of them. mid-range support skirmisher is another. You don't want to be at the front if you can avoid it, but if the enemies fire is being drawn to someone closer you can dish out more damage than they can.
The other role is siege breaker, which is the opposite of point defender. Minimando is just about the only thing that can separate a pack of fatmen from their logis through use of mass driver splash, so get to elevation and do it right. |

All commandos are hard too run, definitely the hardest in the game IMO. Granted as someone (I think it was Prometheus) pointed out to me, you can't really run it as an assault. You need a squad, for solo play the suit is garbage. In my case I can definitely say most of my Calmmando deaths come when I am outnumbered or I get cocky with my ARR and try to do some more in close fighting.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

KinCat, armour rep and damage mods.
Combine that with at least one assault CR and you'll always have fun with this suit. Just don't go running into the frontlines like you're an Assault or Sentinel.

All about the gank with the suit... CR... Mass driver... Mix it up and everyone is dead before they realize..
that suit is all about positioning...
Shields need to be complex only because the terrible parity between STD, ADV and PROTO.
22HP Std Shield Extender, 33hp Advanced, 66HP Complex... Then plus your efficacy bonus of having the skill to level 5 for the 66hp Extender.
Otherwise an Enhanced damage mod and literally focusing on taking them out before they do you is the way to run it.. And positioning yourself so you can hit and take cover... or hit and run.. Just remember your damage bonus, Your health and what your enemy is wearing. |

Then definitely stick a comlex damage mod on instead of an advanced shield extender, the 33 extra hp aren't gonna make any difference anyway whereas the 5% damage mod on this suit definitely will... I love my Mini Commando in certain situations, try to put at least K2 nanohives on there too, they're very useful if you get in an advantageous and elevated position.

Well.. One as many people mentioned dont use enhanced extenders. Actually the enhanced shield extenders are probably the worst module in the game in terms of bonus to fitting cost. You are better off with basic as they are much cheaper and easier to fit for only 11 ish HP difference. I'd recommend one shield extender and one shield recharger..
Two minmatar does not believe in armor reps. A proper minmatar carries a rep tool and relies on fellow minmatar bros to repair armor. You'd be better of with the kincat. Just remember you are a shield oriented suit.. If your shields are getting low use your superior speed to find cover. |

I remember you! You killed me like 2 times with the MD when i tried to sneak up on you in my scout suit in dumb ways. I finally got you when i gave up on the shotgun and used the SMG instead, but i had to wait until you were shooting at someone else with the CR, because in an earlier attempt you could hear my flux grenade cooking and got away.
Your awareness is great, but you were apparently running solo and moving like an assault.
My best experience in commando is staying in a place with a nice view, and only move to a new position when strictly needed, hopefully using a vehicle. Staying low profile is also important, so supportive fire and quick kills are essential, being among blues in a safe location is the best.

Like someone else said, it's for dishing out damage not absorbing it. Think of it as a Heavy Assault suit.

I've been at this game for nearly 2 years now. Battle awareness is something I learned the hard way.
And yes. I almost always run solo. I'm not very talktive and I get distracted by comms. Most of the time I play better solo rather than as a full squad. And my playstly mostly consists of flanking around and peeking over corners. If you ever see me using my Minimando as Assault then that means I got cocky and decided to kill no matter what it took

With an advanced suit, I usually run two advanced weapons, normal nanohive, and complex repper. I have been debating complex extender+Adv recharger, or complex extender+complex dmg mod.
The suit is easy to die in, particularly for the slow speed. only one extender and the recharger embraces the from cover or with a squad philosophy of the suite.
I assume there is a stacking penalty with the complex dmg mod and the suit's racial dmg bonus (and weapon proficiency), which makes me wonder what the value of the complex dmg mod is if it gets penalized to a much lower value. if I'm wrong on that stacking penalty, then this a good option.
As far as weapons, i have been loving the MD + LR combo. No racial dmg bonus on the LR, but taking down shields and some armor until the person takes cover and then killing them in cover with the MD splash damage has worked well. I always play alone, so this only works well if I keep my distance and everyone is distracted and no scouts come after me. Otherwise, I die as often as I kill (or worse).
The other (obvious) weapon combo I use on an adv suit is proto SL and basic CR. I have a MD/CR fit to maximize the dmg bonus, but I have barely tried it because I love the MD/LR combo so much. the lack of aim assist on the LR has me thinking I should switch to KBM for the easier mouse aiming, but the learning curve of switching to KBM when I have never played a FPS using that method is very, very steep. I tried 2 matches using KBM and found aiming more accurate by the second match, but I was so mind-boggingly unable to perform even basic movement that I died relentlessly.

I use the MD/CR combo. I use my CR to kill while I use my MD to make the enemy run in every direction and finish them off with my CR ;)

Your fitting option are well...bad for this meta.
Your weapons are fine. Remove your shield extender and fits Damage mods (Enhanced or basic, not complex). Remove your armor repper and fit an Enhanced Plate. Remove your Nanohive STD and fit a Compact nanohive to heal you and ressuply. |
