Yep you guessed it this is a rant. In my book scouts have gone from UP to OP in 1 patch. Maybe its just the killing power of the shotguns up close that is so aggravating. The combination of scouts being able to cloak and now avoid visible and radar detection most of the time and being able to deliver devastating damage up close is very frustrating as a heavy. It seems in many ways too easy for a scout to kill me these days. They just wait for me to start jogging along my merry way walk up behind me aim for my head and wham 3/4 of my total hp's are gone (I have about 1200 ehps) then wham 2nd shot and i am dead. |

Yep, welcome to Cloak514. Now you have to use the FOTM or GTFO. Before that it was Tank514 and you had to use a tank or GTFO. Next will be something else 514 and the fanbois will defend that.
What you will never see is DUST 514, the well rounded, everything goes game CCP has promoted. This short sighted developmemt strategy is the norm. So, do what I am increasingly moving to which is quit and only hop on to tool around with the new toys, laugh at the pathetic quality of game warfare and leave the little FPS console morons to their own sad devices.

No, it's their profile, scanners got overnerfed. ALL scouts must be scannable. With the Gal Logi bonus I SHOULD be able to scan all, but I can't scan the Gal Scout with 2 Comp.Damps. Buff the scanners a bit, lower their cooldown, keep the snapshot, INCREASE Scout profile SLIGHTLY. ''The Gallente scout should be unscannable.... to every suit BUT the Gallente Logi'' No the gallente scout is dedicated for profile dampening. The gallente scout deserves to be unscannable, hile the other s need to overstack profile dampeners to try and avoid Gal Logi scans. You're right, you shouldn't be able to scan Gallente scouts using multiple complex dampeners. NO ONE should unless you run some suit using a bunch of precision enhancers. That's the whole point of speccing into that suit; complete stealth and sneak attacks.
I can say the same thing in reverse. You as a Gallente logi think that you should see absolutely everything with an active scanner making you visible for only 5 secs while I'm lit up for up to 30, no matter what and at extended distances even, but nobody should be able to escape your scan.

I hated this at first too (me being a scout actually).
But today i found i'm getting very used to it. Actually had my best kill count EVER using a heavy with logi support (I just started using heavies now in 1.8). Lots of scouts throwing remotes and grenades at me, trying to shotgun me from the back, they all FAILED!!!
Then we took care of 1 objective that was being constantly attacked by a proto scout and others. Only died once and the objective was safe. We were only 2 but found out the right position to have the upper hand and make it hard or impossible for them to attack us without being noticed.
When the "cloak situation" reaches your unconscious, sooner or later you'll adapt. Better if you try the cloak-shotgun combo yourself sometime, you'll be more prepared to counter it. |

I have played the combo myself and i love it. I was using very inferior gear (dragonfly scout suit the free cloaks that were given out and militia shotgun) had a very nice 20 to 5 kd. Mostly got killed when picked up on a scanner because i have 0 sp in dampening. I think mostly what bothers me is how much damage shotguns do. I know nova knifes probably do similar damage when charged but those seemed to be more difficult to really use and you had to be right in melee range. Shotguns dont require a charge up time just get close and shoot. It was a fun game and i loved the hatemail from it. Deep down though the Caldari heavy is the heavy i really love to play its the heavy suit from open beta that i loved playing. Tons of shields decent armor and good mobility. Its how i prefer to play a heavy. |

This is the problem. Same as with tanks no sp ( or isk ) investment and you are almost as a affective as a proto. My proto S gk0 cost over 200k isk and it should deliver a punch... But hey it's CCP

If you're not prepared to watch your back, bring someone to watch it for you, or we will stab and shoot you there.
Cloaks aren't a win button, and certainly not against Heavies.
You can barely sensor-tank any Heavy suit up well enough to detect an undampened and untrained Light with passive scans, and while a Commando can technically bring an Active Scanner and pick up some less sneaky Scouts that way, it's not the ideal approach.
Without a cloak, Scouts are primarily only visible to Heavies when the Heavy is looking at the Scout. With a cloak, Scouts are still visible if the Heavy looks in their direction. As such, the Scout only needs to be seen to be countered. If you're dying to a Scout before you see them, you have nobody to blame but yourself.
Shotguns have NO range. You can easily kill a Shotgun Scout before they can hit you. All you need is - as mentioned before - awareness of your vulnerabilities and a willingness to LOOK AROUND. |

Scouts are supposed to be the counter to heavies. Working as intended. Heavy > Med > Light > Heavy > Med > LIght EDIT Which turns into a squad like this: 2 x heavy 2 x med (assault/logi) 2 x scout (gal + cal, one watches, one scouts)

From my experience as a scout the cloak is nearly an instant win and k/d padder pretty darn good for inflating my wallet also. I have a fit that costs me less than 10k and i get (for me) an amazing k/d ratio every time i use it. I have never put any points into being a scout and i have played them in the past generally when getting redlined to drop uplinks for better position. So expert scout i am not. I dont think i would really call myself much more than a novice scout. With a cloak and militia shotgun though i tell you it sure is easy to get headshot kills. So yea i would argue that the cloak is pretty darned close to a win button. I also have no points in profile dampening so i imagine that anyone with points in detection can see me on passive. |

When you use the cloak and approach within someone's field of view, THEY CAN SEE YOU.
If they're not alert, you're not getting a win button, you're punishing their lack of awareness.
If you aren't visible on their screen, then YOU DIDN'T NEED THE CLOAK.
Try modifying your fitting. Add a Nanohive, Repair Tool, Injector, Uplinks - whatever. Doesn't matter. Use the same loadout other than the replacement for the cloak. See how well you still do.
Scouts got a lot of other improvements coming into 1.8 - the cloak isn't just for Scouts, and it's FAR from the only viable fitting for one. I run a Shotgun Scout on my main account, and I've had 5:1 K/D when playing it as a killing suit. I'm still yet to equip a cloak on any suit I've used in the game.
Seriously, TRY IT. Run with a non-cloaked suit. If you're competent, you'll probably be able to see pretty quickly that while cloaking is useful, it only allowed you to punish players who screwed up. |

Yep, CCP should nerf all guns but the hmg by 100%. Then Heavies will finally be able to do what they're intended. |
