I run STD or ADV 95% of the time. But every new build I tend to run though proto suits in pubs or FW(no ISK, so not very often) to test the viability of new fittings. Or if a large enough portion of the enemy team is running proto. |

I ran starter fits too often that when uprising hit i had 80 mil isk. Now i have more than 120 mil isk & now after 1.8 i run proto often, i do it for the thrill ( you know, you will be very cautious when you know u will lose isk)
You cant see me caldari scouts ;)

I run proto in pubs because i've been grinding SP since July, and i'll be goddamned if I 5ed a ton of sh*t out to not use it. And i'm better in proto. Call me a scub, call it a crutch. This is a video game, not the f*cking olympics. I also farm ISK from PSN alt accounts, so I don't worry about ISK :-o

You can't compare scout suits to much else right now because they are so deadly to pretty much all infantry, however, I will use proto in pubs for 1 of 3 reasons.
1. To test a certain fitting's effectiveness
2. Because I haven't run something in a long time and I feel like spending some ISK
3. Someone pisses me off in a match
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

Went 7-1 in a standard amarr scout suit in a dom today. Got a decent pile of WP from uplinks and hacking as well.
And for the record, scrambler rifles are a great scout weapon- dat charge.

Because they want to. why would you ask such a silly question?. Why do you go to work? why do you hang out with your friends. why do you sleep? these are all questions that answer themselves. Same goes for your question. People use proto because they want to. Its alot of fun to go into a room and smash people with a suit that super powerful. Its a fact. I cant use a proto suit because its just to much money for me but for others that is not a problem. In they end they can use whatever suit they want. Nobody has a say on how they should or should not play the game. |

I have 500M ISK. So, why not? There is little else to do with it. 
One of my characters is learning to fly Derp Ships. The assault Derp cost 400-500K ISK. Crashing one is irritating but is not a Big deal, I am learning to fly them though. Now to get good at it will cost more ISK, while KR will make a profit every day he runs.
No, none of you can have my ISK. Not even a little bit of it. I don't care how cure you beg for it either.

If CCP didn't allow proto suits and proto weapons in pubs then PC would be the only place for people that want a challenge with their proto suits. And those who just like to smash people in pubs would be crying cuz they can't do as good as they could before with their proto suits.

Proto suits can die just as easy. Its all about who has better aim,better position. I kill tons of protos with an exile and free suit. I don't make any less then 500k per full match. If you want to kill the proto, kill his medic first. Mass driver will kill anything from higher ground.

Why do some people like to gamble? Why do some people risk their lives doing extreme sports? Because the added risk is a thrill. A solo proto user will be taken down by a small ground of guys in standard gear (except if he's a cloaky scout, then he can disengage at will). In order to use a suit like that you need a good amount of squad support or, with minimal support, be extremely aware of your surroundings. If you do it well, at the end of the match your stats and rewards will be a little better.
A full squad of proto though...that usually happens because when they stick together the risk is low and it's fun, assuming there are needles being carried. |

BTW, for tankers the Militia turrets are equal to the Basic. The CPU/PG is a shade different but using them never puts me over the limit so I only run the Militia. No sense in piddling the ISK away. Just a heads up if you see Maddy - Militia Rail Gun kills on the feed; He might know what he is doing. And he is cheap-ish.

For me, it's based off the WAR ECONOMY, when Dust and EVE merge markets you will see A LOT OF PEOPLE go back down on weapons/mods/gear. So start saving now because those guys in Space don't like us. |

This is how it works you get a portion of what you destroy in game so if you destroy a bunch of Proto infantry and a bunch of tanks you will get a lot of ISK WP determines what portion of that you get.
