Why? Why run such expensive stuff? Especially when you probably don't get your isk back at the end of a match?
My most used fit is a 6,600 isk scout, and I've killed many protos with it. Why do people run proto?

I'm not really that good, i usually die 7 times and kill 11. But my point is in the end i always gain isk. I don't understand the mentality of running super expensive fits whent you almost always lose isk.

Because they have the skillpoints for it? Because they DO earn their isk back due to being good?
The fact that you manage to kill proto users with a scout suit doesn't prove anything. The cloak is a new addition to dust that people (proto users included) are still learning to adapt to. Given a few weeks it's unlikely that scrub scouts will buttrape proto users anymore.
Come back and brag when you kill proto users with militia/bpo-fits (like I do), then we can talk... |

Not braging, my point is that if i can still kill in a standard suit, proto users can still do way better than me and earn more isk if they use standard. Most of the time people don't earn their isk back.

Cause I've been playing advanced suits so long it's refreshing to beat some people up in proto.
Plus I've finally determined the fit from my advanced suits that suits my proto best.
And I only have 10mil so I don't lose money using it, just stay about even.

PC, I went from 60mil ISK to 105mil ISK in 3-4 Days by just being a merc in PC. 3mil ISK Merc Fee + 1-2mil from Clones + Salvage, never have to worry about running out of ISK again!

When everyone was in chromosome.. They knew that the gear didn't make the FPS player...
Why? Aiming mattered... Skill mattered...
No person jumps into Proto gear and instantly becomes a god... Or can even make it more effective then they would an advanced suit. That mere assumption is short sighted and self inhibiting.
Just like Any Game with End game gear... It takes time to learn how to use it right and make it effective... And in DUSt 514... make it Cost effective...
Investing into Proto-type Modules and Suits is an investment.. In not only outcome and results of a match... But in your ability to learn how to use it and make it effective on the battlefields of DUST 514.
Alot of people Have and can use Proto-type... Few are able to run it in a cost effective manner that allows them to run it infinitely..
Even people that are in successful PC corporations are broke and live paycheck to paycheck... And then others have been making profit Running Proto for a year.
Every major content addition there is a learning curve in using the proto items and getting the max potential your personal ability can out of it, to make it cost effective... This is also an investment that will yeild some net ISK losses, for the long term goal of making it cost effective when properly learned.
Everyone who saved ISK to start running Proto-type and would have conversations about getting Proto knew this for truth in Chromosome.. Fast forward to DUST 514 of now.. And it's just Spoiled Aim Assist Defenders That hink everything isn't fair unless CCP Hands it to them.... Just sickening... |

Many players have a glut of ISK and there is absolutely nothing to do with it right now than either run proto in pub matches or hoard it in hopes that CCP creates a use before they quit the game.

Because some people like running the best of the best. Nuff said.
What's the point of all this isk if I don't use it? ( I say all this isk, I generally spend it as I get it though. I have expensive tastes!)

Nope. Ive probly played 10 to 20 total PC matches when it first came out. Most of my isk came from running nothing but ADV before Uprising and then they did the asset buyback. Since then Ive run nothing but proto and either make money or break even, in pubs.

Why do people use proto in pubs?
1) we have a ridiculous amount of isk
2) because we can
3) they allow you to fit cooler stuffs
4) they look cooler
5) we don't care that you think
6) for that moment when two protos collide
Why do people drive Lamborghinis? They are clearly OP to other normal cars, cost way too much, and will probably end in a raging fireball of death. (please refer to list above)

Mostly because it's fun, and it's rather hard to get a good E-Ware scout fit that's not proto without sacrificing either HP, scan range, or profile dampening. My favorite fit runs a complex kincat/dampener/ range amplifier in the lows with two complex shield extenders and one precision enhancer in the highs. I usually just stick a basic or advanced weapon and most of my suits don't run me more than 110K isk. It's fun, and while I don't always go positive, I still somehow manage to continue building up a steady supply, with only the occasional game bringing me down for a few matches.
Nova Knives are OP! Nerf em before you lose all your proto suits!
