After 2 weeks of 1.7 and Tank spam being rife a DEV said they were going to address Tank v AV balance in 1.8 ...
1.8 hits and the only change in Tank v AV balance is further nerfs to AV
It just proves that Soon TM is utter BS and they are basically saying . we don't know what we're doing so maybe when we get some1 who actually does know what they are doing we'll fix it until then ...umm ... look at this picture of what we might add in the future .. maybe |

It would be nice if they made small patches between the patches that make bigger impacts, something like 1.8.5 or whatever. Things like fixes and such.
After Uprisings release the forums were a bad place, I'll never forget how CCP screwed up so badly.

I blame it on the complete lack of communication. NO, not with the community. What I'm talking about is the interdepartmental communication within their company. It seems there are some teams not communicating with others as effectively.

AV WPs are getting buffed, making AV more viable, encouraging the use of AV More AVers means that while they still may not be able to destroy vehicles (being addressed, I'm sure), they'll be able to chase them off with any effort.

Communication is one thing, and then there's also the thought that certain issues may make way for others.
Its a triage situation.
I'd also put money on different departments having different ideas about content deployment. Perhaps the higher ups think that the tank issues, while annoying, are being handled by us as best we can. That they don't want to nerf/buff tanks and they're waiting to apply a solution that will be a single fix rather than smaller tweaks leading to the same point.

The are lowering the total clip size of all nades to 2 from 3. This means you have one less AV nade available. In addition, I know that a lot of people run FG and Swarms with Damage Mods. Complex damage mods are going from 10% to 5%. If you stack 3 of them (like I do) then you are going from a 23% damage boost to a 11% damage boost (rounded out). On top of all of that, Hives are getting a nerf so running proto Nades and not getting them fast enough or swarm ammo fast enough and having less supply available is just sick. It's a triple angle nerf to AV no matter how you look at it. |

While WP for damaging vehicles is definitely something that should be added, I'd call it a....very small step in the right direction. It should hopefully encourage more blueberries to actually bother with AV, though. But I found it kinda disheartening to not even see just a temporary number tweak to AV options in 1.8, just something like increasing the direct damage on AV weapons slightly. I don't think that would be a bad idea for the interim until we have a more concrete Vehicle fix.

I'm asking for a link to the Dev post where it was said 1.8 would feature Tank vs. AV balance.

If there was a list of possible guesses as to what's wring with CCP Shanghai then I would definitely guess communication as one of them.

What you blowhards fail to realize is that there's considerable planning not to mention a hell of a lot of work when it comes to releases, and 1.8 was in the works before the impact of 1.7 was known.
Personally, tanks aren't that much of a problem, they are even easier to counter, and seeing them regularly adds to the game, so I'd rather have 1.8 and let tank balance come later.
But, then again, what would we have to complain about? |

I feel like it is going to come out that WP for damage to vehicles is for them to collect data on AV vs vehicles (as if 5 months did not provide enough data) and a fix will be coming SOON (i cant do the tm thing but you get it) aka right after everyone that came back for the 1.8 racial parity is gone again and this time for good. |

Hm, perhaps. Personally I think it's just a very helpful balancing step. It encourages people to actually play dedicated AV. Imagine this:
An enemy rail tank comes over the top of a hill and starts raining hell down onto my team. So I decide to grab my FG, and start nailing him. He of course backs off when his health gets too low, regens, and comes back. So let's say I spend the whole game just keeping this tank deterred. Even though I was clearly helping my team, I'll probably end up going 10th place or so, and getting **** for a payout. So if you're just some blueberry, why bother?
With the added WP, there's actually direct incentive for every blue to run AV.

It's too expensive to release patches, which places the importance on game testing which isn't CCP strong suit. It seems they are more invested in Valkyrie and VR then Dust. I don't blame them, they lost 22m $ last year so a free to play game isn't gonna be their focus. |

They came no where near losing 22 million dollars. They removed the giant fluff value they had applied to Dust for tax purposes. The funny part is they will now write off the new valuation as a loss to keep from paying taxes on their Eve money as well as the little bit they pull in from us dust bunnies.

Really I think the only issue is the programmers don't play the game, and the designers simply give them mandarin stickies saying... Flaylock too strong or Tanks too weak.
A Public Test server would fix that and would save everyones actual characters from getting lolraped by the eventual FOTM that spawns from every half baked idea that gets thrown live without testing. |

There is the all time rumor of Sony not allowing them to have a test server which is very possible when you look at how hard the regular releases consistently crash the PS3.
The ultimate reason for no beta programs (other than the one we are in) most likely comes down to the cost of releasing patches and the mildly broken infrastructure of the game. They have fought to make everything they can server side and then been forced to pile the important things that will not work server side into the client leaving a pretty rag-tag set up. It is simply a case of poor planning in the start when they were forced to leave the carbon engine behind for an engine they had never used before. |

The good news there is as long as Eve players keep pouring money into CCP they will need something to spend it on so that the government does not get it. I am not familiar with Icelandic tax statutes but this is the same kind of behavior that can be seen in the U.S. in nearly every public traded company all the way down to long time small business owners.

This has no effect on AV besides now being able to farm wp..logis now have competition with wp gain ..... This just seems like a slap to the face...AV is gonna get their arse wrecked but now vehicles will be able to toss some wp on your corpse while saying "Go clean your self up... this is chump change for me" |

If that is the case then we just will have to be prepared for broken game updates ruining some aspect of the game until they add another update that may fix the old issue while simultaneously breaking the next thing. Oh well it's just a game, plenty of other games to play. |
