Absolutely. This TTK thing is a good idea but as usual they took it too far. There is literally no point to going past proficiency 2, maybe 3, with any laser based weapon. Totally useless skill now.

So, just took another look at the 1.8 SDE and 1.7 SDE.
Laser rifle heat costs are going to be the same across all tiers in 1.8 which means they will all overheat at the same cost, this is clearly not what it says in the patch notes. Currently in 1.7 the prototype laser rifle can fire a lot more than standard can which is how it should be.
Furthermore, the base damage will be 5% more for elm and 10% more for viziam compared to Standard laser. This however should only affect the base damage and not the beam, making it entirely useless.
IF the current changes hold then there will be no point using any other laser rifle than the standard. Ranges seem to be the same too.
If the laser rifle damage buff increase at advanced and proto level is on top of the 1.7 laser rifles current damage its going to be over powered in 1.8, ensuing no doubt the mighty nerf hammer.
Unless of course the 5% increase is added onto the standard laser rifle damage of 15 which is .75 more damage at adv and 10% more damage at proto is 1.5 damage which seems inline with the other rifle damage decreases.

To be honest I also feel that damage mods should be at 3/5/7% so as to make tier differences and sp investment notable. |

IWS said yesterday that an emergency hotfix needed to be worked on for deployment day of 1.8 so the AV grenade hotfix would have to wait. His only hint was "SDE". Perhaps this was it?

I've just started using Lasers and they are really hard to use, it's impossible almost to stay on target while you are 'burning' someone as they will always strafe and 100% of the time will bunny hop (which is ******* pathetic and one of the worst mechanics in this game IMO).
I think it would be better if there were some kind of meter on the HUD (over the reticule maybe, not way off in the bottom right hand corner) to tell you if/when it was overheating, or if the laser would change colour as it heats up, or maybe the noise could change? but I suppose you could also count to 5/6..
The changes are interesting, increased zoom and less heat build up, but we'll have to wait and see.
I can haz all your Officer Heavy weapons?

Its almost like we still need the full patch notes isn't it. I am a negative Nancy with this game right now and to be honest.... I predict more major upsets with this game come 1.8.
I need to go and buy Battlefield 4 - premium. That game might be more mindless but at least its mostly balanced and a lot of fun.

This things have been proposed before but nothing so far. The laser beam does get larger the longer it has been fired.
