I know the new scanners will be here in a couple of weeks, and players can't lean on their crutch, but until then. I'm trying to find out how I'm being scanned.
My M/1 Scout + Enhanced Dampener + lvl 4 dampening skill.
I'm being scanned for a duration of longer than 5 seconds. Much longer. So it's not the Duvolle Focus.
15% + 20% + 8% = 43%
That puts my Scout suit down to a 25.65dB from a 45dB, doesn't it?
That's under the 28dB precision of any prototype scanner.
So why am I constantly being picked up on an active scanner? Im also positive its not stacked Focus scanners either.
I'm seeing a lot of Scouts show up scans lately. Why is this?

Nothing is additive in this game. The bonus are multiplicative so it is less than 43%. |

So, I have to subtract 20% from 45dB. (9)
Subtract 8% from 45dB. (3.6)
Subtract 15% from 45dB (6.75)
??
That's 19.35
That's still under 28 = 25.6
What am I doing wrong here?

I think Jordy's math is correct. Should work like this:
45 * .85 * .8 * .92 = 28.152

So, the only real way to do it is to run a Basic Profile on a Lvl 5 scout, or to run a proto damp on an ADV scout.
No real way around it. This is why Scout was such an SP sink pre-1.8
1.8 fixes this though

This is why you're getting scanned. You're gonna want level 4 scout level 4 damps and an enhanced dampener.

You start with 45db based on your numbers I would guess you are lvl in scouts.
So the math would be 45 x 0.8 x 0.85 x 0.92 = 28.15 db, therefore a proto scanner is able to pick you up.

As others have said, if you only have and ADV scout you'll need to run a complex dampener and get Dampening 5 to avoid 28dB scans. |

As others explained you got your math wrong. You are over 28DB. Either max your dampening skill or use a complex dampener to get underneath 28DB. But dont worry the new scan profile for scouts in 1.8 will be 35DB which makes it harder to scan. Basically put without skills in 1.8 a scout suit can dodge ADV scanners.
