The fact that I don't see more post about how the skill points refund is handled .
Seems quite unfair that command is being refunded without the weapons and core skills. The introduction of new side arms , changing the method of performance of damage mods , changes to equipment and suit bonuses garnered a change to something that would have been more appropriate for a true release.
Roles were incomplete and all the suits and weapons were not available but now these problems are being solved while new one's arise ... like the fact that the refund is not being handled with care.
Players had to choose weapons and suits to survive , so now with more of a true selection players who have settled for less can now play to their full potential.
Core and weapons should have been refunded as well so that players could go " fully racial " and play to their races play types. This is truly being hindered from the way that the refund is being handled.
Reasons could be given as well as examples but I'm sure that there is nothing that I could say that most already do not understand ... all I would like to see is a reconsidering of the refund for racial distribution fairly and correctly.
Just refunding the command is half @$$ing it . No offence but it's true. Allow the merc's of Dust 514 to be all that they can be.

Rebalance and new, unique content (not filler, like the suits) do not warrant a respec.
The reason we are getting a dropsuit refund is because the dropsuits coming out now should have been out since the beginning, and it gives the opportunity to get out of a filler dropsuit (e.g. there was only one heavy, now you actually have a choice) without changing your specialized role (so it's not a respec per se).
Your core and weapon skills should still, for the most part, support the role you chose (apart from armor or shield skills).

The rage of people respecing into crap guns or FOTMS is not worth it. Dropsuit command is only being refunded because people where forced to skill into suits due lack of promised suits, much like the assult rifle.
Stop thinking so short term and think long term. It takes you a month tops to reskill and more changes will come so frankly stop treating this game like cod and HTFU and skill into the new environment

The fact that you have to place statements in brackets warrants some questioning. You already understand but you sound like you are wavering. The fact that these options were not in place from the beginning should have some merit. Most placed skill points into items that had nothing to do with their race or play type but did it out of necessity and now with the changes this should have been considered. It's only fair and right by standards measured.

becuase CCP has monotized SP, the sale of boosters and AUR gear (wich is like buying temporary SP) are how they make their money.
so, naturally handing SP back to players unless absolutly 100% riot inducing nessesary is simply NOT going to happen and it shouldnt happen.
CCP sells skill points, they give a bunch of them out at events for free, but once you spend em thats it.
thats the buisness model, thats how teh game stays free.
to complain about respecs is to complain that the game is free and wish that you paid 50 bucks for something that will be discontinued in a year or two. |

Honestly, I can't bring myself to care. I would have preferred that FoTM chasers be locked into their choices, dropsuit upgrades are all skills you are going train sooner or later there are probably 3-5 skills at most that are completely useless to any given role. A respec of weaponry I feel should happen but right now doesn't make sense since parity has not been achieved with sidearms/heavy weapons; not sure about light weapons but I feel like those have been fully fleshed out minus min/amarr light av.

Keep in mind that we're given 2 million SP for free, nevertheless a week before 1.8 is going to be launched. Nobody else see the coincidence here?
CCP wanted to be reasonable and gave us a dropsuit command respec, since some people were forced to spec into other suits due to the fact that their choice didn't exist yet. CCP did recognize that by speccing into new suits, some of the modules you invested in would become useless or not so useful, so they did this event to soften the blow. 2 million SP is plenty for maxing out a few module/equipment skills and get some proficiency into a new weapon.
And really, if you haven't predicted this at all by saving SP but rather continuing using SP on things you won't be needing in your new suit, combined with the 2 million extra you're going to get from this event, you deserve to be sup-optimal.

Skillpoints are for life not just for Christmass I have prototype in several area's but all I'm saying is , " It would have been nice to go full Caldari " or whatever race instead of having a bunch of items that I won't use and skilled into to compete. There is no player market so whatever CCP would have given me in terms of isk would have been fair and better than anything I could I've gotten from the market anyway. Really don't need the clutter and backlog of useless items.

There needs to be a downside to FotM chasing, a full respec would liquidate all that SP sunk into Flayloc etc to then be put into the new thing. And when things get changed again people will ask for another respec.
Sure there's SP I've wasted early on that I'd love to get back but if it means not rewarding the players going from one crutch to another then I can live with that.
Personally I'm even against the respec we're getting.
I like knowing that the slayer logis have sunk millions of SP into Cal logi which they're now not using. |

I'm getting 3 mil sp from the clone event which is about a 20% increase to the SP I already have. With 1.6 mil refund from the dropsuit command respec I will have 4.6 mil to get my Cal scout. I am happy.
Most importantly I hope this breaks the trend of respec demands since respecs ARE a bad thing to the longevity of the game.

Now this I agree with.
Gameplay is changing dramatically so with that more of a refund would have helped greatly.
Understanding why people feel like this doesn't bother them now I get too.
I can now be a Caldari heavy , Commando or scout even but it just would have helped with the damage mod changes , equipment changes , intro of new side arms and suit bonuses changes on top of racial suit completion ( Screw pilot suits ... to me logi suits are best for vehicle use and do more than a pilot could ever ) just seems like it deserved more since they chose to give to begin with but I can take what I'm getting.

As someone with 24m SP and almost all of the dropsuit upgrades tree maxed... At this point I don't really care what they do with respecs. I'm glad we got DS Command refunded, that was fairly necessary... All the rest of it would be nice but i would be putting most of it back into the same stuff.
With the new changes to proficiency I see no reason to go any more than prof 2 in any weapon, so it would be nice to get my AR SP back... But if my option was to refund ARs or to get 3 mil SP for playing 10 games ill just take the free SP. I get the same amount of SP back either way but now I get to keep ARs in case they are ever worth running again. |

@ the OP - The weapons changes will only slightly reduce TTK at best.
The RR will still be too powerful, the CR will still be the weapon of choice inside 50 ish meters. The charge scrambler rifle might actually be more balanced now, I'm not sure. I still think its rate of fire will be too high.
And the AR will still be of limited use while its variants will totally suck.
Nope, still no balance here.
