the spy in TF2 works very well. they catch people off guard. they have to time it right and think about it tho.
the cloaker in planetside 1 was very balanced. you could forfeit a cybernetic implant (kind of like a module) to install this darklight ocular implant and turn on this vision that had an energy bar, the vision would let you see into a spectrum that would reveal the cloaker. the energy bar for that would drain and recharge, and the cloakers had very weak armor.
but i'm glad i'm mainly a pilot until the initial riot in game and on forums is over. there's going to be a lot of QQ and this is going to make the ground even more hellacious, you will need a good squad even more so than ever i predict unless your going th cloaker route.
imo a cloak is sorta like the dropship ability to fly a max height- you'r virtually invulnerable but what fun is that if you'r not engaging at all in the fight. the tactical cloakers will be scary the cloakers hiding the whole match will be a joke

i honestly think any complaining about cloaks will mostly come from bias ,because of the way cloaks were implemented in other games.
i ,for one, have no current beefs with the current cloaks.

Anybody who has played TF2 knows cloaking is only as good as the person using it, and is more of an escape or infiltration mechanism than a killing tool. It helps you position and observe. Also this cloak is more like the infiltraitor cloak in Planetside 2. It has the predator shimmer that gets worse as you move around, anyone who is paying attention can still easily spot them, hell I hunt infiltraitors by the sound their cloaks make when they cloak up /decloak.
As an adendum, when they added shotguns in beta the infiltraitors could use them, and yes they were a little op, they would uncloak and 2 shot you. |

It will mostly be used to kill because that's just about the only thing to do in this game.
It will be judged primarily on how well it does that.
It could also be used to sneak in and drop uplinks which is what I would use it for |

I am glad the cloak is coming. It is going to be a nice SP sink and a lot of people are going to be butt hurt about it. It will probably change stats within the first month and then people will complain that CCP broke their suit even though the change will be needed and ask for respecs and threaten to quit. Some mercs will find a good use for it and use it very well but others will dump SP into it and hate it. QQ on the here will be prolific and tears will rain like a monsoon season is some rainforest country. It is going to be fun.
I don't think any of the cloak timers are too long, I would like it to be turn it on and it stay on until turned off or until something that forces it off happens. I like hardcore and the cloak should be very powerful in the right hands and a total joke on the wrong suit. The cloak is kind of pansy to me but I look forward to the tears it will pull.
