yeah heavies in bulk are very hard to deal with, but in reality, they're only good for holding one point at a time, and you don't know how many times i've massacred a squad of heavies trying to hold an objective...
with the new cloaks coming out too, us scouts will be the perfect counter to heavies. hell, we already are the heavy's worst enemy!
i for one just can't wait for my scout ck.0, and my 2,000,000 sp. i'll finally be able to max out my core skills! (yes, i'm a 30 million sp player and STILL don't have max core skills lol.)

Any heavy worth their salt have only damage mods in the highs, so basic frames are getting nurfed ~8.5%, and Sentinels are getting nurfed 5%. And there are ways to deal with a group of heavies, the simplest of which is send in your own pack of heavies. Uncoordinated pubs and FW might be an issue if no one on the team has a heavy and ye end up against loads on the other side, but that's the way the coin falls. |

How would you remedy this? Asking us heavies to not be a heavy cannot be. Asking potential FOTM chasers to hold off seems unlikely. They are supposed to be dangerous and hard to kill but I do know that half of the team should not be the same. |

Couple this with the HMG being the best weapon in the game right now (at least in CQC), and you have a very misbalanced game, especially with skills for invincibility that they receive next patch

Grenades? Are you joking? A properly fit heavy can shrug off 3 core locus grenades soon enough. Remotes will become tankable in 1.8, although they'll probably be the best counter anyway. Long distance weapons can be tanked for a pretty decent amount of time - and also you can just not be a complete moron and charge through the open. Somas don't work outside of open ground either. I wrote a lengthy post on this in another thread. I've been telling people for awhile now that these new heavy bonuses are going to cause enormous problems when there's all kinds of scrubs camping an objective in fatsuits with light weapons. You get 4-5 of these new fatsuits in a city or camping an objective, especially those with HMGs or RRs, nobody is going to be getting in there anytime soon.

Heavies with an HMG who aren't mega scrubs are better than a decent shotgun scout in CQC (though mainly due to poor hit detection and slow glitch when being hit with the HMG), and have no turning penalties either, making their aiming just as mobile
Overall, heavies are just invincible hulks with superior weapons at their disposal, with no real downside when coupled with an LAV with a scanner or a logi

When the enemy heavies are dead then go hack. Yes, the HMG is supposed to be the best weapon in CQC. What you expect? Next! What about the shotgun? If the shotgun is worse than an HMG in real CQC, then why not just use a rifle and attack from range? Your argument effectively neutralizes any and all diversity in the game and says "Use a rail rifle on a logi and you'll be fine"
And in response to your next post, yes. Flanking should be the bane of heavies. Frontal attacks should require ~2 assaults or other suits to have a chance of killing the heavy before it kills them, attacks from the rear and sides should easily dispose of the heavy.
You misunderstand my intentions-I don't want heavies to be useless bullet eaters that are simply large slow targets, I simply do not want them to be invincible, as Im sure you must want the same. In 1.8, they will have doubly potent bonuses-high resistances, and high damage output. With all of these great bonuses, there must be an equally great weakness as well--heavies must be weak to attacks from the flank, back, or range.
Currently, if heavies had a lower turn speed (NOT lower aim speed, just lower turn speed), HMG's received a nerf equivalent to the SMG, and HMG's had slightly less auto aim, I think they would be very balanced come 1.8. In the meantime, however, If there is more than, say, 4 in a populated area, it will be unfairly imbalanced in their favor.
To sum this up -Heavies should take teamwork to kill, unless attacked from the rear -HMG needs a nerf to maintain inter weapon balance -Heavies must fill a niche, just like scouts and logis, if they don't, you have slayer logis all over again, eventually resulting in a nerf -Heavies need lower turn speed to counteract their superior EHP and damage output

this kind of talk is what led to heavies being horrible after Chromosome. Assaults were mad because they couldn't kill everything with their Duvolle. They were mad because a wall of heavies was a good tactic.
The scout shotgunners were the perfect counter but shotguns were too OP and killed them so those got nerfed.
Tanks countered heavies, too, but they also killed assaults.
basically, the OP is bitching about not being OP, himself. Heavies are fine. Any scout with a creodron shotgun or ishukone knives would go to town on them. Any tank. Any sniper. Hell, as long as you're not being stupid and coming at them head-on within 40m, you'll do fine.

Quick example of problem.
Heavies jump in LAVs ( worse when speeders hit). Already there is the problem of LAV spam for the purpose of individual conveyance. There is also a problem with heavies riding around in LAVs just for kills.
Now, we will have more ppl running heavies and just riding straight to the objectives in LAVs (soon speeders), defeating their weakness, defeating the advantage (and role) of a scout suit and flushing any sort of aesthetic or variety down the drain.
They will sit on the objectives and just turtle with links.
Boring game just got more boring. Easy mode wins. Self-respect is the only reason not everybody will be running heavy suits.
So, you can be a scrub and win or actually use the other suits CCP puts in the game under the illusion that their roles matter at all and lose, but retain some kind of self-resect and support for the spirit with which the game is intended.
CCP, what are you thinking?

this is why softening up an objective with some granades and mass drivers will be clutch.
if you soften up the room before you all charge in then your dealing with a bunch of half HP heavys instead of a bunch of full HP heavys.
remotes lock them inot the tight space and limit their movement even more while the scouts use the chaos to sneak in and kill off the logis right before the main push.
taking an objective from a bunch of dug in heavys is going to be difficult, and of course bringing at least one of your own heavys for lead the charge through the entrances is going to be key as well, but thats kinda how things work, the defenders have the advantage and you slowly work to move in and take the objective fromt hem.
i think the heavy spam will create more tactical gameplay.
heavy brick wall, great defence good at holding objectives and great for leading the charge into an objective.
logis- great at supporting the heavys and providing the back end logistics while taking pot shots of their own so give cover fire.
scouts, nessesary for breaching teh line and taking out high profile targets like rep logis or that one guy on their team thats carrying the rest
assaults/commandos - great for softening up objectives for capture, and fast responce. (assault for flanking)
i think this is the begingin of more balanced roles on the battlefield, where nobody is meant to be the king slayer and everyone is instead balanced around what they provide towards an assault or defence tactic.
i have my hesitations and i think its going to be a huge shock to everyone, i just hope CCP gives it enough time for the community to adapt to the changes and start adjusting their gameplay.
(with tanks the time weve had makes us realise that swarms need a buff, forge guns are fine, tank hardeners are broken, and PLCs were aparently meant for infantry.) |

If you think heavies have no real downside you're an idiot. Plain and simple. "Invincible"? lol... I wish more scrubs like you would play as a heavy in competitive PC games, then come back and enlighten us about how "invincible" you were
Because you can't solo a heavy like you used to, doesn't mean they're OP, it means they're actually good at what they're suppose to be doing. Sounds like a personal problem if you can't figure out how to kill heavies. But god forbid heavies are actually good.
If you think heavies have no real downside you're an idiot. Plain and simple. "Invincible"? lol... I wish more scrubs like you would play as a heavy in competitive PC games, then come back and enlighten us about how "invincible" you were Because you can't solo a heavy like you used to, doesn't mean they're OP, it means they're actually good at what they're suppose to be doing. Sounds like a personal problem if you can't figure out how to kill heavies. But god forbid heavies are actually good. Gotta be able to solo every heavy otherwise tears of OP shall be shed on the forums. The problem is that i kill one, i get seen, the HMG slows down my minja once i get hit with 2 bullets, i headshot the other, then the third fourth and fifth all zerge in on the point and are impossible to kill. Medium frames with rifles-killable Heavy frames with HMG slow down glitch-unkillable
The worst part IMO is the slow down glitch coupled with superior aim assist
