why? first of all read this topic and the link in it link it says that the patchnote is going to be the 18th but previously it said, yesterday, something like (i cant open the link atm, I dont know why) that the patch notes was almost ready. So why not give it to us if it was ready? What I think is that in the patch notes they will say that they are giving us a respec or a refund in 1.8.
But they dont want to let us know it now. why? becase of the 1 million clone challenge. With that event they want to sell a lot of boosters and omega boosters (it s right I m not saying they are bad people or anything like these, they have to make money, dont they?).
We know that there are going to be a lot of new things in 1.8 and we want a lot of SP to be able to skill them when 1.8 drops. So a lot of us is going to buy boosters. What would happen if they say that they are giving us a respec/refund with 1.8? A lot of us have enough sp to skill whatever we want without the need of other sp from the event so we wouldnt buy boosters for the event.
as it is now we dont know if there will be a respec/refund so we will buy boosters to be sure we'll have enough sp for when 1.8 drops
So: 1.8 is ready or at least is the patchnote, ccp isn't realising it yet because in the patch note they say they will give us a respec and they dont want to say it yet to sell more boosters.
This is just speculation, I m not sure about anything. I just wanted to know what you guys think about it.
Also: sorry for my english, I m italian, I hope it is understandable and not too hard to read. |

Or, instead of a conspiracy theory, how about we look at a more reasonable explanation.
They've just recently submitted the patch to Sony and the process of approval can take anywhere between 1-2 weeks. The patch is more than likely done, it's in the hands of the middle man at this point. They're not releasing the patch notes now because traditionally the patch notes aren't out until a week before release and CCP takes an IV Drip type approach to releasing devblogs and such in order to increase excitement for its release.
There's also always a chance that Sony rejects the patch due to it not making whatever criteria they have for these things and the patch has to be delayed as a result.

1.8 is ready? Is that why the slot layout on the medium suits are unchanged?
Remember that one time when a DEV released some info on what was going to be in a patch and then several days later it got cancelled?
1.8 is probably last-minute work. |

(I know) Because they probably had to finish things up to be reviewed by Sony on time.
Even the last-minute stuff didn't get in. Let those bugs and glitches come! |

Maybe you are right
Anyway, calling it a conspiracy theory you make it look like a bad thing and that I m blaiming CCP for doing this. This wasnt my point. Maybe I didnt explain myself the way I wanted. I think it would have been a smart move because they are a software house and they have to make money. And I really hope CCP will earn money with this game so they will be able to make it better in the future as they did with EVE.
What I wanted wasnt to blame them but just to say "guys I think 1.8 is ready and we will have a respec. We dont know it yet because CCP is smart enough to hold the information for another week". I hope this time you understood what I wanted to say with my thread. :) Again sorry about my english and my inability to explain exactly what I mean. |

My guess is a couple of things are going on here.
Rubicon 1.3 is shipping tomorrow and likely includes the market changes necessary for Uprising 1.8 and they don't want to deploy them too close together to have time to resolve any problems on Tranquility. Two weeks seems a bit long though.
Delivering racial parity at the suit, rifle and pistol level may have taken a bit longer than expected which in turn delayed submission to Sony. Fitting into Sony's QA schedule probably requires coordination and if they missed a date it could mean waiting for the next opening to submit. Releasing patch notes on the 18th probably means they'll have their answer on what passed by the end of this week giving them time to edit as necessary.
I have the feeling that development effort has been split between delivering Uprising patches with just enough content to keep discontent among the player base as low as feasible and building the new expansion which will be demoed at FanFest in May. The official reason for delaying the new Caldari and Minmatar outposts and socket sets are 'performance and optimization' but if I were in marketing I'd want to bundle all that up in a full expansion to have something to brag about. Add in the possibility of PVE and they may be ready to start the real marketing campaign. Rumor is the dev team is excited about the direction CCP Rouge is leading them and that FanFest is something that should not be missed.
Since we no longer get teasers about what is happening I'm guessing CCP Rouge has orders to keep things locked down tight. They've had enough time that I'm hoping to see full racial parity for outposts and maybe even vehicles.
May 1-3 can't come quick enough.

This is pretty much spot on. No conspiracy theory here - we often work until the very last day to include things in patches / QA, and then there is a Sony approval process that takes place.

Foundation pretty much nailed it.
Which unfortunately means that, despite many community protests about released stats, there's nothing that can be done now. We're locked into at least another month of painstaking gameplay changes.

YOu know what... you never get the patch notes right, just release it.
I fact I'm going to run on a new CSM platform. Just release stuff with a vague list of what you think will be in it. We get it, it's hard to find it all and put it in a list. I'm not trying to be drastic, you guys are doing a great job with what you've got, but I think after sky flying tanks, and not to forget sticky remote mines still not having any blue confirmation AT ALL.
Seriously what does ignoring that it happened gain you? Why are devs acting like nothing happen? Is that what you expect us the players to do? Act like remote mines were always sticky since forever?
Just release the patch, we can handle it. Patch notes won't be much help anyways , be honest we wanted a sandbox shooter, we got a snadbox shooter. Advertise your game on what is really holding t's playerbase. We like how the game is a whole new game ever patch. But Were worried about the direction of the sand... Do something new, if the patch notes won't tell the whole story anyways just give us datadumps and let us write the dev blogs for you. Advertise Dust as the shooter that's always changing!
The 1st mmo in history to not release patch notes on purpose. Do it, start being honest so we can get content and more players faster. |
