1) Damage modifier change
The change to damage modifiers now make it so damage modifiers only boost the damage type that the weapon is most effective against. In the case of the ScR, damage mods will now ONLY boost its effectiveness against shields. The ScR already has 120% effectiveness against shields, why in the world would anyone need to boost that any higher?
2) The proficiency skill change
Akin to the damage modifier change, the proficiency skill will now only boost the damage type that the weapon is most effective at. Once again for the ScR, this is shields damage. As stated above, the ScR does 120% damage to shields -- it practically annihilates anything that has decided to shield tank. The ScR does not need anything else to boost its effectiveness against shields.
3) The ScR damage nerf
So the ScR was already doing only 80% of its damage to armor and now the base damage of the ScR has been lowered therefore meaning it will now do even LESS damage to armor.
4) The ScR overheats
Yes, the ScR will be able to breeze through players shields with ease, but once into armor I see a problem arising. Once the ScR gets into enemy armor, any damage modifiers on the suit will no longer apply to the weapon, coupled with the new nerfed ScR base damage, I foresee a lot of overheating trying to get through brick tanked or heavily armor tanked suits.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

1 is false, damage mods aren't affected by the bias. They are now the only way to increase damage vs. the off damage type.

Wait.
The Damage Mods weren't stated to be only giving bonus to shields or armor. The way they set up the blog implied it was flat damage. I mean I could be wrong but I'm not reading anything about that outside of Proficiency skills.

The damage modifiers do not only boost the damage type that the weapon is most effective against, at least not from what the dev blog said. Do you have another post?
I think the proficiency skill change will affect all weapons. Probably shield based ones more then armour based ones.
I do personally like the skill changes though to help with TTK.

Yeah, it's just gonna be an assist farming weapon. Drop shields with a charge shot so that the armor weapons can finish them off. They better be giving my sp back so I can put everything into core skills.

Should the Proficiency skill be changed to a reduction in heat buildup?

I can't remember if CCP posted i somewhere or not, but I have read that what I stated in number "1" is the proposed change to damage mods...perhaps I was incorrect and this was a rumor akin to the "logi losing the light weapon" rumor.

Where is the problem? It's OP at the moment, but it still have the best alpha damage of all rifles and a good range, with amarr assault bonus you will be able to spam enough to kill everything (probably not a heavy...probably....). It's a laser weapon it should not melt armor like it does now.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

When I first heard about this change I thought it would be much better reversed, so that Proficiency gave a boost to the "wrong" thing (armor for ScR, shields for CR etc.). It's just makes more sense to me to have the Scrambler be 120%/~90% instead of just boosting the shield damage. |

ScR and Mag Sec. I urge all my Amarr bothers and sisters to borrow the technology of our Caldari allies to put down what will be the menace of armored Gallente scum armed with Minmatar weapons of destruction (the HMG)

I had also considered ScR and Magsec...come 1.8 I'm actually planning on running the Amarr Scout with dual Magsecs.

I can believe shotguns but not the ion pistol. That is the worst weapon in Dust 514 next to the plasma cannon. There are way better options to fit into your sidearm than that POS even a flaylock would be better.

Yes no. 1 is true BUT there's a flipside that will benefit ScR more than other weapons:

When did 1 become true? I doubt damage mods got double nerfed.
It's not a terrible change, it just means ScR will be the wrath of shield tankers, while the Rail will be the wrath of armor tankers.
You want to hit armor harder with your ScR? Throw on some damage mods.
Proficiency was becoming too much of a necessary skill, the way Dust compounds damage ensured that. Not only that, it left weapons like the shotgun behind because it's proficiency at best removed a factor in compounding damage and at worst was terrible. |

The interesting part about that is the high slots, 60 hp is going from the Amarr Assault's shields to it's armor. Ergo less shields, ergo more vulnerability to armor type weapons if you fit dam. mods.

Yeah, sorry I read the post too quickly, thought 1. was partly about proficiency for some reason. To clarify, damage mods work as normal, just at 3/4/5 not 3/5/10. I'm editing my previous post to reflect this. |
