Waiting to see more changes, specially for vehicles.
Right now, AV has been nerfed again, with AV nades reduced from 3 to 2 and damage modifiers cut in half. It might be a good idea if vehicles have also been adjusted. |

New build is afoot! Yeah!
Then I read the blog. The title should be: CCP plays caldari.
What we get: Master Race [S]idarm sniper gun to beat silly amarrs and [S]idearm SMG superior to the rusty one in every way. Good game! Rail rifle all over again.
Most OP rifle of 1.7 is getting a moderate nerf (I'm looking at you, RR), while CR and SMG are both getting nerfed at the same time... So another build of railtards on the hills and rooftops putting me down as soon as I render.
I'm not even mad, CCP. Just sad. I will play the **** out of 1.8 anyway. That's life.
And now things that make me happy: Gallente hand cannon! Whoop whoop!
SL dumbfire, DS bumpercars, Scout beast-mode. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time.. to die.

Thirty five percent less damage.
At least.

Holy crap thats a lot of nerfs.
Serious CCP?
I mean I agree the damage needed to be nerfed, but...
Well, I uh.... certainly won't be running damage mods for basically ANYTHING anymore, I can assure you of that... there is no benefit whatsoever compared to more shields.. |

I like the damage mod change but have to wonder if the complex will be used much.
Is 1% damage increase really worth the isk and cpu/pg difference between the two levels? I also have to wonder if the stacking penalty makes it useless to run more than one (I for one am totally fine with less stacking being necessary).
This will also create an extra ISK sink since no longer will running a MLT or STD assault rifle with 2-3 damage mods be a viable choice. |

Oh man, 1.8 Heavies are going to be so scary when the patch hits.
Reduced TTK, can still use Light Weapons, Sentinel bonuses giving additional resistances to all explosives and certain weapon types for each race.
Liking the Grenade change when taken in context with the changes to Nanohives so grenade spam should hopefully be reigned in a bit. The TTK change needed to happen and I'm glad we're seeing it in the way its currently being presented. Hopefully we'll see an increase in the number of Scouts on the field as a result of not having their faces completely melted when someone so much as sneezes on them.
Those rifle changes are SERIOUS though, current STD weapon damage is going to be PRO in the next patch. I honestly can't wait to see how that plays out, especially combined with the (completely justified) change to damage mods.
I do hope, with the change to damage mods, that something is in the works for buffing the STD/ADV Swarm Launchers, all Plasma Cannons, and MLT/STD Forge Guns (STD tier Assault variant perhaps?). Vehicles are resilient enough as it is without giving them an additional leg up with the overarching weapon changes.
Now if only someone would come around to buffing Shield Extenders ...

I do not know the exact math but the dam. simply looks like it is making up for the dam. lost to the prof. skill re balancing. That being said it means what I knew in 1.7, that the MD did not have enough damage to compete with the other light weapons. If anything the damage mods reduce the spam with the weapon since I can not longer fit 3+ 10% damage mods on my Assault MD. Than again...This benefits the base MD, survivability and even if it is making up for any damage lost means it has a better chance 1v1. I look forward to this....but I am still limited in my ammo capacity that CCP does not want to recognize is a obvious problem to it.

It seems that the return of the Shotgun is at hand...
My only complaint is the loss of the RoF skill, but I think the shield bonus will be enough to keep me happy. At least I finally have a legitimate reason to get Prof 5.
For those that are saying the MD damage reduction isn't needed with the TTK increase, believe me, the Prof and DM changes will likely be enough to keep the MD close to the same TTK as it has now. Which should put it on similar ground as all the other weapons. Currently, even Proto MDs rely heavily on DMs and Proficiency to deal any significant damage, and both of those are getting nerfed. |

YOU HAVE.
Considering they have already pretty much said everything that will be in 1.8 at one point or another what did you expect. I know, you wanted yes or no on respecs not the actual patch notes.

Although I was one of the advocates of damage mod bonus spread being too big across tiers, the 3-4-5% bonus spread really seems excessive. Investing huge amounts to CPU/PG to get a 1% bonus to damage (not to even take the stacking penalty into consideration) is pointless. People will stop using damage mods altogether (except snipers, who are getting severely nerfed in 1.8).
Also, one of the weapons that will be least affected with the upcoming changes is the HMG. It will still be (almost) as powerful as it is now. Add to that the increased survivability of new sentinels, and I fear that the HMG heavy will be the new FOTM and the source of many QQ threads.
Just my 2 cents.

Why lower the grenade count? Like really? Also no one is gonna use complex dmg mods anymore, enhanced will be better to fit and be more cost effective. Other than the Grenade reduction its looking good. |
