Pretty much everyone agrees that the game should be a bit easier on the new players, except when it comes to specific equipment, like tanks and REs, which give n00bs a chance vs 1k hp assault players. Then of course it's entirely 'unfair' that a n00b held his ground. CCP is in a tough spot, they want to reward those who stay, and yet keep a decent percentage of new players. They historically favor the vets, but they will likely deliver a PvE mode to coddle those new players who are sure they will be on equal ground as soon as they have all of the SP and ISK. Lets just hope the PvE training prepares them for PvP instead of making them even more complacent.

They listen to as many ideas as they can but for whatever reason, be it legitimate or not-legitimate, some of the ideas don't work well in-game. I believe static scanners was an idea a few players were talking about and now we're getting them. They definitely listened to feedback about the tanks and AV but it's hard trying to figure out the info from each side that's not going to break the balance they're looking for. Also listened to us on the Rail Rifles before they were released. Would you believe the Rail Rifle was even more OP before they dropped? Also heard us when there were constant threads about Logi-Slayers and the same about the equipment in 1.8.
I could go on but I'm sure you get the deal.

Not everyone on the forums are 24/7 protostompers who are exploiting PC. I sure ain't.
CCP listens to everyone but I'm sure they put a little more stock in the opinions of vets because we have more experience with the game and past mistakes. Those people like Judge Rhadamanthus or Aeon Amadi who also have an established track record of being pretty damn accurate with their analysis of things honestly should be listened to more carefully anyway. I don't see a problem with any of that.

you new players have very little useful information unfortunately. for one, you probably come from COD and BF, and your first instinct is to compare. second, you were never there for build 1 or 2 so your "why is there a cap" argument is old and stupid. the B1 vets have seen this game go through so many changes, good and bad, and right now, were just trying to keep this technical roller coaster afloat. some people may think this game is broken, but believe me its fine. tell me everything thats wrong currently, and i'll give you a list 4x longer that was wrong 1 build ago. WORKING AS TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE WITH IT BEING A F2P CCP GAME...(TM)

They can't realistically reply to everyone, and the fact that the devs that do respond get barraged with insults/demands doesn't exactly help. I wouldn't want to respond at all after seeing the 100th thread saying (insert insult here).

They do listen us and our suggestions. You may think they don't but they do. Just like you think all those LEDS stay lit but in fact they are usually blinking. Just because we think something doesn't make it true. Many of our suggestions have influenced the game. I wish hey would tag all the game features that were player influenced.

The problem is we have now 3 "playgrounds". The one who is supposed to be for the "older ones" is broken and accessible only for few.(yes thats PC) The anther one who was supposed for the "middle ones" is getting ignored because you have to calculate is this paying off or not and the "small ones" run in it around like crazy ( this is FW ). So at the moment all are playing in pub's.
Making PC accessible for more players ( I'm talking about players not corporations ). Making LP payouts in FW larger and LP market work only with LP will give noobs space in pub's.

this game takes time and connections to become known like anything else in life. you cant just send a quick email to the president of the US and be like "hey, taxes are OP and a 60mph speed limit on the highway is lame. do something." this game is much different then many others because of its small player base, this gives you the ability to actually run into people many times and become known as that guy. look for people you may have heard of and just try to squad with them... you may get kicked if you suck but if you communicate( ie. have a head set) then they may keep you around. join public corp channels and squad with people who have there voices heard by CCP more then others. or look for other ways of communicating with CCP, (ie. twitter or Skype) there are just over 103,000 threads on the dust forums with millions of posts.
also don't call out us protostompers because one day you too will purchase a proto suit only to find it has been nurfed to freezing HelI because of your QQing.

You haven't been here long, a lot of the vets left cuz they'd listen to dumb scrubs instead of listening to people who actually know how to play the game. I'd rather this still be in closed beta.

CCP! Listen to me, DUST needs to be less like an FPS and more like Peggle. Protostomping sucks, what we need is Pegglestomping. We should be able to skill into various special moves like the pinball flippers and have proto flippers that have extended range so the ball thing can't fall off the screen.

I think what a lot of people forget is that EVE and Dust are mainly based around one thing: ISK. They've got an in-house economist at their HQ for a reason, and part of that is why they're slow in implementing changes to Dust. Remember, we are not the only players in New Eden; Dust can and does affect EVE on some level, but they're planning on (eventually) merging the two economies, and something like that has to be handled tactfully, else they run the risk of inflation from Dust players gaining too much ISK and pissing off the flying space bastards (Capsuleers).
TL;DR: This economy **** be tricky, yo.

The new players need to read a bit more carefully in the skills they put into. If they go scanner right away with no armor/shields upgrades of course they are going to get owned. What does every one think about having some type of SP limit before going into like scanner or some other aspect that does not help the newbie stay alive. I know this game is about choice but if they dont read then they dont get better.

In my opinion, players shouldn't be heard unless something really IS wrong. You can't please everyone.
CCP should try balancing the game by themselves first. Then, they should test it. Can't use a test server thanks to Sony? Tell them that it is necessary. If they still won't budge, bypass it with stone other method. Use the "other contracts" to test the damn game. If something is OP or UP, balance it. Found a bug? Fix it. Not happy with the way something works? Change it.
Then, once all that is done, let the players get a taste of the game. If they like it, your job is done. If they cry and have actual evidence that something is completely OP and not working as intended, then change it after you browse through the evidence telling you that it needs work. If people call OP on something that killed them, but is working as intended, don't change it.
The game is being made by CCP, not the players. This isn't open source. The idea is likable, but it won't get you far unless you have a truly unbiased, trustable player base (something hard to achieve in a F2P game).
This is all my opinion, of course. |

There are players that have been around since day one and have brought up many things that need attention and are real but does not get done. Thats when the monthly hot fixes were started but still problems that at the core like hit detection was still not right and ppl let them know. Has it gotten better yes but how long did it take with ppl saying some thing for it to get addressed. That is the point
