Ghosts Chance Inf4m0us 1139	Posted - 2014.02.27 11:25:00 - [10] - Quote 1: DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT mine astroids.... quickest way to hate the game and never return. 2: DO the starter missions, it gives you a feel for basic combat and functions and gives you alot of free stuff to mess with 3: Concider what kind of imaginary person you want to be in the game, do you want to be a pirate? do you want to smuggle or steal? do you want to fight a giant war? do you want to hunt pirates? control economys? manufacture? explore? find something and dedicate yourself to it FULLY, it will be tough but its very rewarding to pick something and run with it. 4: do not count on playing the game for free by buying plex, its not worth it in your early stages and you sacrafice alot of the potential fun you would have grinding ISK rather then shooting at ****. 5: FOCUS your training if you stay past the trial, have a training plan of a ship you want to get into a stick to it, start small with something useful for your chosen path and stick it out untill you get there, training takes massive amounts of time and skilling into something you dont need or want is a costly mistake in your early days. 6: google, nuff said. good luck and remember, have fun. dont get overattached to your imaginary spaceship or your imaginary isk, ISK buys nothing but fun, and if your not buying fun with it then its wasted. dont morn the loss of a ship or get upset, instead plan to lose it before you begin and if your like me and dont lose it, do something ballsy and stupid that will likely end up with the destruction of your ship as a reward for your survival. the goal isnt to never die, the goal is to find new and interesting ways to make your ship go supernova in satisfying ways.

Focus on your core skills first and then work up the ranks of ships. Frigs, destroyers, crusier, battlecruiser and then battleship. You should be able to fully t2 fit a battlecruiser with all important core skills to V before even thinking about training the battleship skill. Also in EVE, bigger is not always better. Frigs and cruisers are the most fun in the game. And a good frig pilot can kill a bad battleship pilot, which is always fun. Lastly, as a new player, the best ship you should get into first would be an interceptor. They make you better pilots, they gave good survivability, and you learn more by scouting for fleets with them. And almost every FC of every fleet you will ever be in will want inty pilots. A low skilled player in an inty is much, much more useful then a low skilled pilot in just about any other ship. Gun control is not about guns...it's about control. The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

Just wait a little bit. do you really want to play a game where any system is a instance with 20 people, so its luck if your cargo gets popped by pirates or not? a game where you have a dogfight with a max of 20 while eve makes headlines with 2000 people fights? EvE servers have to slow down when a big fights happents and SC wants to make dogfights that where every gunshot is its own projectile.. how will the SC servers ever go up to a 2000 people fight? NEVER.. its a singelplayer game with multiplayer rooms, thats all you are just a lil *** who doesn't even play eve or SC (because its not out) who got blindet by the media. << Support the EvE League>>

Missions give you needed skill books, doing them all and you will be SWIMMING in skills to train, plus a ton of free ships. After that, doing the Sisters of EVE story arc, will net you a lot of free stuff to continue on with your training. After that, it's up to you! Get in a destroyer pretty early on and you will crush level 1 security missions. Running securiy missions is really good practice as you learn combat mechanics/tactics. Combat in EVE is somewhat complicated. You have range, speed, tracking, sig radius, different ammo types and resistances to consider. Missiles work a bit differently than turrets. Getting comfortable with the mechanics is ideally done in a mission, and not in a PvP fleet when your fleetmates are counting on you. I think EVE University is an excellent corp to join when first starting out. The whole corp is designed for teaching players how to play EVE, they have people that specialize in every aspect of the game as teachers. Eventually you'll move on to pursue your own ambitions, but Eve University is like a "full-featured" NPE that the game never shipped with. RvB is another good choice for learning the ins and outs of PvP through constant fights with cheap ships (it might make more sense to start at EVE Uni first, and treat RvB as the next tier in your education). - Don't undock in anything you can't afford to loose. - You are never completely safe when you're in space (unless cloaked in a safe spot), so even in highsec you can be suicide-ganked. - Find a good tutorial on how to configure your UI/Overview settings (THIS IS CRITICAL) - ISK Doublers are all scammers, yes even the guy who swears he's not - Learn about the criminal flagging system, if you loot someone else's wreck/can (it's yellow) you will be flagged a criminal and people can kill you in highsec without penalty. - If running missions, it's usually a good idea to skip missions where you shoot NPC's from the opposing Empire faction. (e.g. If you're Amarr and your mission agent wants you to kill Minmatar NPCs). Killing the opposing faction's NPCs will trash your standings with them, and when it gets below a threshold, you become hunted if you ever enter their space. not being able to enter a major empire's space because you trashed your standings sucks, and it's a MAJOR pain in the ass to slowly grind back up.If you want to do Faction Warefare you can disregard (just be prepared for the consequences). You'll still want at least one toon that can travel all of highsec without getting shot at by NPCs. Best PvE idea ever!

Building a strong foundation for later development. Sure you may be able to hop into a BS in like a months time but you won't be able to do anything with it. Bigger is not always better. Depending on pilots a well trained and fitted cruiser can take out a BS if that person doesn't have the right skills. Starting with your core skills (and certificates) will allow you to determine which direction you want to go. As others have said do all the starting missions. This will give you a general overview of what can potentially be done in Eve. Do you want to stay small and fast? Do you want to be the linchpin of a fleet through logistics and command or do you want to be the big bruiser sitting there slugging it out with another at ranges of 50+ km? Truly Eve is a game of nearly unlimited potential. Stay with your starting corp for a time, some of them are long time veterans and can answer a lot of questions. The rookie channel is your best friend as well. Use the GMs and others wisely. Aura will go through basics on fitting your ship with equipment. Experiment with what works best for you. I love EveMon, a great third party tool that lets you track your characters and plan advancements to what would be the most efficient. Though it is really up to you what kind of Immortal you want to be.

My "main alt" on a second account was in an Exhumer/Orca now mining that is boooooooring. She is still around floating in some sort of limbo until I need more ISK for my main.

Player skill means everything in EVE (Untill you get to huge blob warfare then I agree its just an F1 button mash) @ the OP EVE is a huge game, and when you first start it no doubt will be confusing. Do the tutorial missions, read everything and honestly dont be put off by the fact that things are confusing at first. If you are looking for PVP and combat, start with the missions and then once you feel comfortable look into a corp called Red Vs Blue. RvB are a pair of corps that are always at war. This means that you can base in highsec and fight the other side continually. The downside to this is that it means you might get killed even if you are doing PVE in the area. But yea man give EVE a chance. I played for 3-4 years. It was only because I started playing DUST that I stopped playing EVE.
