Regardless of race you want to get mechanics, engineering, electronics and most of their subskills to 3 or 4 first. Building a strong foundation for later development. Sure you may be able to hop into a BS in like a months time but you won't be able to do anything with it. Bigger is not always better. Depending on pilots a well trained and fitted cruiser can take out a BS if that person doesn't have the right skills.
Starting with your core skills (and certificates) will allow you to determine which direction you want to go. As others have said do all the starting missions. This will give you a general overview of what can potentially be done in Eve. Do you want to stay small and fast? Do you want to be the linchpin of a fleet through logistics and command or do you want to be the big bruiser sitting there slugging it out with another at ranges of 50+ km? Truly Eve is a game of nearly unlimited potential.
Stay with your starting corp for a time, some of them are long time veterans and can answer a lot of questions. The rookie channel is your best friend as well. Use the GMs and others wisely. Aura will go through basics on fitting your ship with equipment. Experiment with what works best for you. I love EveMon, a great third party tool that lets you track your characters and plan advancements to what would be the most efficient. Though it is really up to you what kind of Immortal you want to be. |

Also! I don't think this has been mentioned. DO NOT touch yellow cans! It is a trap! They will jump on you and destroy your ship. |

While some jump into low/null and join a PC right away that play style is not for everyone. My main is still in CAS (Center of Advanced Studies) a Gallente starter corp and she is 2 years old. |

Prepare to have your head bashed in, and boredom on all sides, because stress is the name of the game, and if you cannot handle it, well there is nothing to do besides being stressed. Many people enjoy that however, which is why they play EVE.
To be fair there is more to do than spread sheets. WHs, exploration, incursions add much needed excitement. My "main alt" on a second account was in an Exhumer/Orca now mining that is boooooooring. She is still around floating in some sort of limbo until I need more ISK for my main. |

Alternate Insano wrote:Go look at Star Citizen first. If player skill matters to you don't play eve. Plus 50k current EVE players are leaving the day SC launches. This whole franchise is dead. I was going to DL it too but literally EVERY site that's done a comparison says EVE's inferior everything will not compete against CIG's 50 mil machine. Just wait a little bit.
Yet another business major projecting the outcome of Eve, can you please tell me what metric data you're using for this? Or are you using your crystal ball? Whole franchise is dead? Can I have your business skills please? Tell me more how you managed a million dollar company that kept it around for the last 10 years? Where did you get your degree from "Internet browsing school"?
Quick CCP! Take note of this when this new game launches you should just stop. Shut down the servers. Turn off all the lights and go home. I mean a new game is coming out! |
