You must have gotten lucky in terms of your opponents. Against baddies, a STD strafing damped scout is extremely effective. Against people with half-decent situational awareness (AKA eyes) and aim, you're going to get wrecked. Or, you can still do solidly, but it's certainly nothing approaching "near invincibility".

They couldn't see me but they were constantly visually covering corners and enter/exit points so now way to approach them without being seen. Probably will see more of that come 1.8 with all invisible scouts out there.

A totally different mindset, but scout is a ton of fun most of the time. Right now I need my assault suits as well for more straight up fights, but that may not even be the case come 1.8 as I'll be able to create a gallente scout with nearly as much tank as my Minmatar assault. Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

EDIT: Thanks to some wise advice from a poster, I have since swapped the plate for a BPO red pill thingy. Awesome that you are having fun with this, it really is a great time. I don't think I could play this game without a scout suit. As far as not having it as bad as we make it out to be, I can understand you saying that, not having been in a scout suit before the changes that have happened. It was worse when every installation on the map showed you on the radar, stealth meant nothing then. As soon as you approached an objective, Turret, SD, of CRU, you were as visible as if you had been scanned. And with the layout of some maps this pretty much meant you were seen everywhere KRRROOOOOOM
