I am a very long time member of the dust community, longer than practically anyone here, I come from pre-replication builds, which is about two builds before you could buy a pass into the beta. So basically a long ass time.
Hands down the best build this game had ever seen was replication, movement was flawless, there was some memory leaks and hit detection was God awful, but currently movement is clunky, uneventful, slow, and the game is simply boring.
A long time ago your running speed now was about equivalent to our back peddling speed, the game was fun, action filled, and only the best of the best could run in prototype gear without going broke.
CCP seems to have this delusion that adding more equipment into dust will improve the core gameplay, that somehow, my boundless combat rifle will make my foot getting caught on a rock 2mm high any better.
I will once again spell out your stupid ******* problems for you again ccp, listen up.
Movement: the maps are huge, this is a fps with an arena gameplay mode. You need to increase movement speed and fix buggy environments including invisible walls, quick sand, immovable spots etc. Also the running being walking speed and walking being running speed needs to be fixed.
Hit detection: still, after literal years of making this your "top priority" you still cannot manage to get it right, wanna know why? SERVER SIDE HIT DETECTION IN A LIVE ACTION FPS DOES NOT ******* WORK.
balance: you've worked a decent amount towards the right direction, but until you fully balance what's here already, don't add in anything else.
Skill> equipment: a long time ago you said this was the case and always would be, please make it so. With aim assist it's nearly impossible even for the BEST player to kill someone below par in a std v pro battle.
Graphics: your graphics slow the game down flat out, move to ps4 or dumb down graphics for ps3.

bye. o/
on a side note, if you've been here for so long, then you know that kincats will solve jus about any speed problem. an assault ck.0 can get up to 9.84 sprint speed and my normal shotgun fit (scout gk.0 with 3 kincats) runs at 10.73, which if you haven't seen it before, is VERY FAST.
I agree with a lot of the stuff you said though. there are way too many bugs *the sprinting bug cough cough* that need fixing by the next patch.

I lucked out with the raffle drawing for Mordu's Private Trials. I say "lucked out" because I got to play with what we now call Skirmish 1.0 (can't remember the map name). Destructible objectives, two-stage fight with defined attack / defense positions, carved into a two-laned mountain where CQC was abound and you were never too far away from the action. Tanks dominated the lanes, while infantry wormed in and out of the terrain and struggled to advance.
Now we have "bowls" of sockets with tons of travel time between them, rooftops everywhere, and a stale metagame of "king of the hill". I can say without a doubt in my mind that I had more fun in the closed beta than I do now, and that's not just nostalgia talking. With the old game, you were never far from the action, it was fast-paced, and most importantly, fun.
Granted, we did have CreoDron Breach rifles abound, and dropships were sledgehammers, but there hasn't been one build since then that I have thoroughly enjoyed as much as I did with Mordu's.

+1 ALM1GHTY STATIUS. Lot of truth here, and all of it is echo'd in reviews of the game, and were DUST to be re-reviewed today the results would be the same.
I don't dispute that CCP has done some good work over the last year, my critisism is that not a lot of it seems to be focussed on getting core mechanics to the point where the hands-on interaction with the game is responsive, predictable, enjoyable.
I'm sorry CCP, but over-entusiastic AA on top of awkward controls will never cut it, and you should know this without it being said.
Movement. Aiming. Fidelity of input. Responsiveness. Interaction with environment. User customization or controls. Comms.
Regardless of what higher-level content you add to DUST, the experience of that content will be filtered through the list of core mechanics in the preceeding paragraph.
It's likely you know all this CCP, and that i'm preaching, yet again, to the converted. But if that is so, why haven't your actions shown that the core mechanics and the hands-on player experience are your top priority?
That's the thing i can't figure out.
I support SP rollover.

Well I feel your frustrations OP. I have not been here for as long as yourself but I believe I started back in early January of 2013. Back then we had the Chromosome build and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, the game was indeed more fun then. Granted it had issues but the gameplay , the movement and the controls were much better and a ton more FUN.
I use KB/M and right now its in the pits. Mouse aiming is sluggish and totally unnatural, its almost impossible to select the right spawn location and as for the equipment wheel / selection - dont even get me started.
It seems the same feedback as been reported time after time but CCP don't take any notice. You would have thought after all of the damming reviews this game has received time after time CCP would start to do something about it. Yet they have not.
Potential will not keep this game alive. Only action will. For me personally I see it that - if 1.8 does not really take the game a step forwards in the right direction, then its over for DUST.

The lack of information shared at this time is intentional (and in my opinion, for completely understandable reasons). CCP wants to be sure their communications are of substance moving forward, in sharp contrast to last year's FF where a bunch of hype was dished out without much regard to feasibility. Once Rouge is ready to show what he's been preparing for everyone, you'll likely see the communication frequency increase sharply again (and become regular). The silence for the past few months is very specific to the current work in progress, I don't have any indication from where I sit that it will be a trend. I applaud Rouge and the rest of upper management (and the new dev staff) for being so forthcoming with the CPM about their plans, every step of the way. There will be an end to this, that's all I can say at this time. I totally understand where you guys are coming from, I'd be going bonkers if I wasn't one of the few CCP is consulting about their work-in-progress. Your frustration is completely justified. Believe me, I was around last summer when communication was really in the dumps, and it was because of CCP employees failing to do their jobs to engage the public. I've always called this **** out when it happens. The reasons for the silence have changed sharply in the last few months however, even if the end result for public has not. Anyways, I won't belabor the point I just wanted to stop by and give you guys what little perspective I can. I look forward to the next couple of months as everyone is brought up to speed finally on where Dust is going. And it is going places. I've never seen more investment in the game (by all measurements: financially, manpower, etc) than I have since Rouge has come on board.

I hate you. Goodbye.
Pretty much truth... echoed in every game review ever of DUST. For those who say hit detection is magically fixed and even think that it's better then chromosome are kidding themselfs.
Bullet magnetism... Got introduced, hit detection didn't get fixed...
Maybe CCP needs to watch This And realize that even the most Loyalists for Brands will eventually get fed up and COMPLETELY change brands and actually hate that brand moving forward in their life. |

My biggest annoyance with Dust is the terrible movement. In some maps it is possible to climb up a near 90 degree verticle slope, while in others a shallower slope can't be run up. You end up looking like a noob running into an invisible wall.
There are some parts where as OP mentioned you can't walk over a 2mm bump.
I think this is proof that the inhouse testing they do is terrible. I've given feedback regarding these issues and it's completely ignored. |

I've been appearing now and then, bust with social/real life& I consider this game currently an inability to be ccompetitive in, weapons don't even properly work in PC. Not even gonna get started on what my bad connection does in this game. |

I hate you. Goodbye. I'd like to post again, after reading this whole post now....
There are plenty of better looking games out on consoles, that run way better. CCP simply need to either hire a "Designated Optimization Specialist" that will Continually Optimize the game every patch, or have the whole team put a TON off effort into it in one patch. Like drop everything and do optimization stuff level of effort.
Stop with the AA. There are games with AA that's WAY (way!) stronger, but there are still those "1337" player in it. Perhaps you guys just suck? Seriously. Go play COD or Battlefield, and compare your results with your DUST results. I admit I suck at the game, and so I don't find the AA a hassle. But if everybody keeps thinking their SO amazing that nothing should be able to kill then, and that it was AA, and not the fact that your just not as good as you thought you were, that killed you.
I think the Map size is Ok-ish. The maps are designed around Vehicles ferrying people place to place, so when you have people who just run at the objectives that are 300 meters out, then it is big. Infantry are trying to play as INFANTRY, and vehicles are trying to play as VEHICLES with no give or take in that. This is complicated by the fact that we don't have large capacity ground transports, only air transports. So with no seats, infantry are stuck walking, and vehicles are stuck getting stolen because infantry want a ride, which they can't get.
As in my last post, a threshold needs to be in place so that walking over a ledge that's lower then say, half the way to you knees, and the character should just walk up it.
Everything else I would agree with.

I've got no excuse for invisible walls, a small rock halting your forward movement, quicksand and other things though MMO? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH wait... you were serious... Just to be clear, what about DUST is classified as being an MMO? Being able to affect the larger game of the other players?
lolPC, I guess.
