I'm getting really sick of dealing with bricked RR Gk.0 logis. Playing Dom vs. STB, their whole squad camped out on the hill above the objective with triages hives and the works, you know, standard cookie-cutter 1.7 infantry build. I try flanking with a shotgun scout, get one the first time, then just die repeatedly. I try pushing with a heavy- no dice, can't possibly begin to close the range before getting taken apart, and they can see the null cannon console from 60m away. 1 kill and 7 deaths later, I say screw it and pull out my proto ARR in a damage modded armor tanked triage nanohive packing ADV logi suit. Easy 15 kill streak, would have gone further if the match hadn't ended.
Picture of kills/deaths over time
I don't know how much more ****** balancing I can take. It's partially a map design problem that caters to 50-70m weapon optimals, but also just incredibly bad numerical balancing between tiers. There are two ways to win in Dust: Be massively, massively better than your opponent, or bring a crutch of equal or bigger size to their crutch, or some combination of the two. Dust has become simply a crutch comparison engine.
I don't really have a point here other than "I broke down and pulled out my crutch, and it made me so mad that it worked so well that I had to come post about it on the forums". |

If I know the map you are describing (old manus peak domination??) it is much more than just "partially" map design. Whoever holds that ridge owns the objective/game. Rail Rifle are at their prime in that environment... elevated position, optimal range to target (objective), cover (ducking behind the ridge out of LOS).. plus massive amounts of equipment = gg.
They probably could have done the same thing using mass drivers and lazers if they never lost the ridge top position. |

Yeap, that ridge- and to make matters worse, one team (in this case, their team) starts on the ridge side. The funny thing is, they lost by getting cloned thanks to some nice OBs by Death Firm. |

well it's no surprise that bad players have to camp and be constantly healed because they can't go 1v1 and can't manage their HP, they have to have a computer do it for them as well as having the computer aim for them.

The real problem is PC being closed. The tactics have moved into pubs out of bordem.
Corps like Molan Labe, STB, Pradox, etc never really bothered me in pubs. But now, I know they are going to be spamming uplinks in all the usual spots and droppin' millions just win a pub match... it's annoying. I don't play pubs that hard. I'm mostly there to add to the SP and ISK stash.

you call tactics sitting on the obvious choke point with RR tanked gal logi's?
Sorry OP it's def almost always frustrating when you land on that map. Luck you it wasn't what STB used to be known for: TANKS!
I know you're probably not specced into it but an ads woulda made for some funsies countering those tanked logi's.
But yeah tbh it's more that map needs a bit of improvement.

I've had a few games like that. That one sounds spookily like one I had on the weekend.
Best thing I did was take out their turrets with ours, forge gun 3 of them camping and run in uplinks to help get the objective back. |

I didn't say it wasn't a great way to win...I guess I just think of tactics as something actually thought out...gut impulse would tell you if you spawned in on the high ground side
"Hey if i just sit here and use a long range weapon...they have to push us in the open to get here! And we can look directly from at the point!"
Gut impulse probably wouldn't prompt you that your instinct was some great insightful "tactic" though.
Regardless I definitely feel that map massively favors the high ground side...if both sides have equal skill the high ground side has the advantage...and should win.

I wish they had never put 514 in the title. Every time someone comes on here to spread tears around they call it something514. You sir, just figured it all out. The game is this F'd up BECAUSE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE.
Now that we're on the same page, think about it. How simple would it be to hotfix matchmaking or separating players by gear level? How simple would it be to put a cap on tanks or drastically increase their cost? Now think of the rest of the game, apply the same logic, and what do you have? The only game of its kind that caters to bad players.

if theyre camping in triage hives throwing fluxes is usually pointless as respawners will throw more, core nades do wonders but you cant get close usually. using a sniper is pointless unless you have other competent snipers, or can get a shot on the hives, which is common but sometimes not possible. Using a forge gun to 1 shot is good but you run out of ammo quickly and its difficult to hit strafers sometimes...
But hands down the best answer is.....
A tank. Either go rapem with a blaster if possible or sit back with a railgun and rain 1 shot hellfire with a MLT rail sica, punishing them for being slow ass tanked campers.
If you weren't solo you could just go take them out with a squad but meh, thats mostly irrelevant. Bluebuerries force solo tactics :/

The way to fix matchmaking is to devide the systems up by sec stat and then allow players to choose which sec stat to go to. Each sec stat would have a total meta of a fit it would allow. 1.0 would have a total meta of 2 and only allow starter fits and militia fits and then the meta would move up as the sec stat moved down. Matchmaking has no place in a sandbox like New Eden.

Lol please hit me up if you want to prove how bad we are lets set up a thunderdome I'll 1v1 anyone in this game. I run solo ambush all the time and put up 18-1 or 20-1 type scores and still lose, then you guys come on the forums and complain and get upset at the players who use protogear and squad up instead of complaing about CCPs lack of player separation. I would love to only play PC matches but thats unrealistic. If there was a mode that required a minimum suit meta level that likely ensured a proto suit and at least ADV weapon thats all I would play until then focus your anger on CCP who decided it was ok to match 20+ million SP veterans against academy graduates.

Do you use a CR or SCR ?! So far everyone i've seen crying about RR is a SCR or CR user.
Anyways... First mistake, charging a group of people with a scout in an open map. You'd have died even if they were using a MLT AR... Then Trying to climb that hill with a HEAVY !? you should've put some uplinks on the left side of the hill. It's easy to take over one of the hills. So blaming it on the Gun and the other team for using teamwork is a bit silly |

Ladders and hallways lead to empty rooms devoid of relation to objectives or tactics. Weapon types are tremendously imbalanced.
