So is it just me, or is using anything other than a hardener and damage mod (hardener and reps for a maddie) just plain stupid.
Plates and extenders have been kicked to the curb, so I wonder, what could you do with them. My first and initial thought is double the HP you get from them. That's the only conceivable way I could imagine them being equal to a rep or hardener.
To me this is lame and uncreative, any suggestions eh?

I'll be completely fine if everything was nerfed and then level 5 skills bring the stats up to what they are currently. I honestly believe this is the solution to all of our tank problems in 1.7.
Right now, there isn't much of a benefit to invest SP. MLT=STD=ADV=PRO, with the only benefits of decreased cooldown but at the cost of increased fitting resources.

The only thing I was salivating over was not having to fit small turrets onto my tank. That was it.
Remember:
When infantry complained about contact grenades, they were nerfed into the ground. When tankers complained about AV grenades, infantry said "LOL HTFU" and that was that.

Yea, but plates slow you down, so you could double your HP but drive slooooowww was fudge. I personally use a booster and a hardener. So nice to see 2000 shield regen in 1 sec and become 60% immune to damage. I have killed a lot of other MLT tanks this way. Still get raped by anyone who has actually specced into tanks.
All this bitching about going back and forth about tanks. Never wanted to use one, Jihad jeeped, maybe I will try one, oh, they are cheap, this is fu@king awesome. I blew that SH!T UP. I am only using tanks, thanks 1.7, screw my team and objectives.

My issue with tanks is this,
Right now the HAV is the strongest, most difficult thing to kill in the game. It takes a bare minimum of TWO AV players to take out a tank with anything approaching even footing, closer to three for a 50/50 shot. There is no effective light weapon class AV weapon that can and SHOULD double for anti-suit use (meaning while a HAV is great for AV and AP, an AV suit is at a considerable disadvantage all around). Destroying a HAV capable of killing 30 players without dying, taking minutes of effort and hundreds of thousands in ISK along the way while it scans and generally backs up their team ONLY GIVES A MEASLY 100-150 WP. After that, the pilot can simply jump out and take the beleaguered AV down. Combine this with a ridiculously low ISK investment cost for a lethal HAV compared to very similar cost for an effective (the term "effective" here used loosely) AV suit and it breaks from logical sense in several ways. Then there also seems to be a comparatively high limit on how many tanks can be actively deployed and then they can all make a hasty retreat, just up an magically teleport out of the game, and return with full health.
So what I want to see is this, PILOT SUIT REQUISITES FOR PILOTING - weak suit, specialized equipment, one S class weapon, HAVs and dropships only. You need a dropsuit to use the equipment/weapons of DUST, why wouldn't even larger more complex equipment/weapons require the use of a more specialized suit/isn't a heavy fitting into the pilot seat BS? RETREATING EQUIPMENT NOTIFICATION/DELAYS - It shouldn't take less than 7 seconds for a tank to just vanish from combat, it needs to be apparent, take more time, and be more vulnerable. TRIPLE WP REWARDS/300+ WP FOR HAV DESTRUCTION, 100+ WP FOR ASSIST - One HAV is worth more than two militia suits and takes A LOT more effort/ISK, I would honestly say that it should be worth even more but fear that would make things too difficult on tankers. 10 TIMES THE PHYSICAL RESOURCES SHOULD COST 10 TIMES THE ISK - Maybe not that much, but the current cost of vehicles/some modules is not realistic/fairly scaled. EFFECTIVE AV (LIGHT CLASS) WEAPONS THAT ARE SUIT EFFECTIVE/HAVE MORE AMMO - Damage is damage and trapping most AV players into using weapons that will almost certainly get them killed if anyone with so much as a militia assault rifle is in the area before they can get anything done is an unfair and unrealistic impediment. And yes I'm talking mostly about the Swarm Launcher. It NEEDS to be able to damage suits, with an ineffective lock on timer, avoidable rounds, and maybe even a modest nerf to damage sure, but as is carrying one of those things is a death mark. Also, expanding range a bit so that the thing it's designed to destroy can't out-shoot it with impunity would be nice! Also of note, AV grenades should also do nerfed/any damage at all to players.
Tanks as they are now are in combat are fine-ish, they're formidable, strong, and take effort to destroy; a bit too much effort, at too little cost for the tankers, at the expense of AV players, for too little reward. I don't want paper tanks again, where they were easily dispatched and were only useful as a surprise element, but other factors need to adjust to reflect the tanker's newfound position in the Dust hierarchy. |

Only the very stupidest tankers are holding still long enough for me to stick 3 REs on them, especially now that it's a well-known tactic. Most tanks will just backpedal 20m before I can move 5 and mow me down. |

That would be awesome. I really fing hate the "SP SINK" that it is now. And even by going further into them, it hardly provides any sort of divide between MLT and PRO. Yes there is some sort of a divide, cause I be blownin up MLT all day long. But then there are those times when they 3 shot me with no hardeners, and I think, wow, what a ******* douche. I paid to have this power, while you did not.
It's like they did terracide, but only went halfway thru with it. Missing the skills that make true tankers unique and different.

Yes, and they asked for small changes that would have helped balance the way they were. I can point you to numerous threads from myself and other back then.
Then CCP tells us they are completely revamping tanks from the ground up.

As I have met him in battle in his tank, and he actually didn't do half bad.
I hope he gets the point though that no true tanker asked for THIS. We asked for small things, small changes. Instead we got this. You think I ENJOY what has become of tanks. I loved tanks before, because being effective with them took time, money and PRACTICE.
It's a joke now, and any reasonable tanker will agree.
That hate should be directed CCP's way, as they are ultimately responsible for what happens. Understand that 99% of the time, they will ignore your feedback (maybe taking a piece here or there). This is clear by what they did with tanks. They outright ignored any and all feedback tankers gave them, and did their own thing.
Expect many more months of this!
