During PC matches, we have enemy players with dropships midfield before half of our own team even loads into the game. This can only be attributed to a high-speed internet connection and solid state HD and provides an unfair advantage to these players.
CCP, this is what you need to do to fix the issue. If anything, in PC matches to start. Program a 15 second game delay for all players. Other mainstream games do it...I have faith you can, too. This will allow all systems to load the needed data and it will level the playing field for both teams. It is absolutely ridiculous that one force can have troops at a mid-field objective before 15 of the opposing players even see the initial deployment screen. |

I have just purchased a hybrid drive and I am now the first into almost every battle where I was normally loading in around 10th when people had already started making there way to the objectives.
Doesn't cost much more than a SSD but gives very similar performance. I also see the warbarge for 8 - 10 secs.

Suggestions is right HERE
Are they preventing you to go buy an SSD at your local store? Are they preventing you from getting higher internet speed?

Latency is measured in milliseconds and is not a factor in spawning.
The improvement of an SSD to first spawn times is 5-10 seconds, and is an unfair advantage, IMO.
The best PC teams are more than aware of this advantage, and use it religiously. |

Dropping an Orbital Strike when a PC starts is fair, right? Using BPO and saving ton's of ISK if fair, right? Buying AUR items is not punished neighter restricted AFAIK. Right? Are you living in a third world country? Are you going to blame God for that?

I think it's a combination of SSD and server if they're getting that far ahead.
Just have a countdown (30 seconds?) at the start of matches before the spawns are unlocked. |

If you can do that then you don't really need a SSD.

Dude this is not counter strike.
Most of the times it does not matter who is first at a certain objective. It matters how well organized the group is when they approach it.

You obviously haven't played in a PC where an enemy dropship with spawner gets to your home objective on the top of a hanger before your team spawns in. I don't care how prepared you are, how coordinated...you are set back at least 25% of the game just trying to clear the hurdle that has been presented due to the fact one guy with a dropship had a solid state drive. |

i agree with this +1 good sir. it would make sense and i think within that alotted time you shuld also be able to call in you vehicle so its primed and ready for you. and if implemented in pubs /fw this would allow ds pilots to take off with out hitting the RDVs cause theyd be out of the way.

As mentioned earlier. Don't get yourself to much in a hurry.
I have seen that in so many games. People think "Oh I need to be very fast there otherwise all is lost". And all people from both parties thought so. I remember a map in counter strike where the people were able to count the seconds that need to past to throw a grenade in a certain alley to hit the people that were running through.
And the funniest part was: When you were able to calm your team, hold back and do not play this style;played your own style; the enemy team was confused.
To make a long story short, adapt your tactics... Or keep thinking in one dimension, it does not matter for me.
I just tried to give another perspective. |

I have an SSD and while it does get me in the game faster it doesn't make a huge difference for me(maybe 3 seconds). What made it worth it was that the game used to pause in a match every once in a while when it loaded something new - it doesn't do that anymore. |

What you are likely seeing is the bargain basement HDD that Sony puts into PS3s is giving you issues(HDD performance varies greatly between models).
Every second counts. Think of it as a chess match. And those with SSDs are always white every time. Their winning percentage end up being higher as a result. Thus not fair. |

Adapt your tactics?
You must be running a PS3 with SSD installed :)
We do adapt. We coordinate our fights with a generality and then hone the specifics in the first seconds of the game when we don't know which map we are fighting on. Another point, the beginning seconds matter.
The people who complain "this isn't a valid issue leave it alone" either: 1. Don't care about the strategic advantage it gives players 2. Don't want CCP to think it's a problem needing to be fixed, therefore ruining their advantage 3. Haven't participated in a PC match where two corps evenly matched obviously won due to the SSD players on their team capitalizing on the few seconds it provides.
You have your opinion and I have mine. If I didn't think SSD's had didly squat to do with the outcome of a very close battle, I wouldn't be voicing my opinion about it.

After I installed my 840 EVO SSD, DUST is so much better. The "mini freezes" are gone, my game no longer stop every 20-30 seconds. Also, the game is very fluid, no delays really. Of course I'm also in matches very very early. Only running on the PS3's SATA 1, but I still see much improvement over that stock Seagate 5200RPM drive. |
