A trend that other games such as battlefield are adopting these days is very clear firing flashes and sniper rifle scope glint, features absent from dust with no real good reason.
It is often very difficult to locate a sniper in this game because when there is sniper fire being aimed at said player, the sniper is not in any way revealing even his/her general location which results in often easy kills for the snipers and his/her victims being unable to organize themselves and act accordingly to avoid getting shot.
As the sniper rifle is a rail gun and as in EVE rail gun shots appear as long coloured beams it only makes sense that in dust too rail gun shots briefly highlight the location of the sniper.

It's already easy enough to find them, I don't know what your issue is. You get directional hit indicators, and if they kill you, you get the range of the kill. This generally leaves only 1 good spot for them to be in, maybe 2 or 3 depending on the map. |

Other ideas from various games:
1. red dot that shows where the sniper is looking (doesn't help to find them, but it does help you to work out whether you're going to be shot at)
2. clear, persistent ionisation trails/tracer rounds when fired. I know the existing sniper rifle pretends to do this, but their rendering is sketchy at best.

Scope glint and extreme muzzle flash only exists in BF standard mode. Play hardcore and it goes away. Hardcore is way more fun, people who are good in vehicles in that mode deserve to stomp.
Finding a sniper isn't hard, it's realizing that he is directly in his redline that sucks. And that's where 99% of them are hiding. You can't snipe him back unless you have a real nice sniper rifle with DMG mods so that cancels most people out. |

Scope glint won't work since snipers will likely rely on glare-proof camera systems.

-1, no. You already get distance and direction. A good sniper is supposed to be hard to find. Speaking as someone who snipes and counter-snipes, NO ONE deserves this kind of hand-holding. |

As there is a risk of being in the front line. And considering rail guns leave traces in the form of beams in EVE, it would only be staying consistent the the universe the game is in.

Sure, assuming we also go with the other mechanics from those other games and get guaranteed one shot kills with any sniper shot, then I'll consent to this idea.
Barring this, 2-5 shots (2-7 seconds TTK) to take down a suit of the same tier does not deserve another nerf.

not unless you want to up damage to one hit kills, add bullet drop and fix the rendering issues and fix the low zoom scope the snipers have. |

I seem to recall back in beta that the sniper had clear bullet trails. But for some reason they were changed. Hit markers are wonky, as they are, for me at least, difficult to see due to color and how quickly they disappear.
Sniper glint is unneeded and a bit of a nerf. CCP just needs to fix the redline and rendering. |

It's excruciatingly easy to find a sniper - you just have to pass the scope over their general location. Point in case: http://i.imgur.com/Fpo5rPy.jpg

You don't have to. You know, actually look around.
This scope glint idea is terrible. Put some effort in man, instead of just crying because someone has a tactic and you don't want to bother to learn how to counter it.

It's not that i'm just too lazy to counter a sniper, often it is impossible to counter it or it's vary difficult to know if there is a sniper firing in the players direction, simply because to bullets make next to no nose ( there should be a snapping sound as the bullets are moving at super sonic speed ) and the shots don't even look like rail gun shots, they're next to invisible.
I'm not necessarily saying implement scope glint. I would just like to see the game mirror EVE more.

Break out your own sniper. Rail Tank. Dropship. Squad up and hunt the sniper down. Tank up. That's just off the top of my head.
There are no snipers that are uncounterable. You might need to step out of your box a little though. That's the point. |

I'm against sniper scope glint. But I'm all for making the bullet trails more visible provided they increased the zoom on the scope.
