Zahle Undt wrote:I know we aren't going to get most of that stuff by fanfest, its only a couple months away from 1.8 where we are getting rest of the racial suits and rebalancing and I believe item trading will still be in there. But to the actual substance of the OP post, yeah I will stick with Dust, but how much I am actually playing it always varies. I haven't capped out since the 5x SP event. When destiny launches I can see a month or 2 where pretty much all I'm doing is logging in to get login SP and maybe catching up with corp mates.
As it stands right now, Dust is a tough game to play constantly, but its a pretty easy game to put down and pick up while still accruing passive SP.
Yup right now I don't give a second thought to logging off and if fan fest is a failure then Destiny is gonna be what I'll be looking forward to. Then once it's here I don't think I'll give a second thought if I have to choose between Destiny and Dust (destiny being the choice made each time).

lol ya I'm sure that there are some things that are able to be done in space with us dust players without CCP having to finish everything on the ground.

Yes, but then CCP might think we are ok with just the barren planets and not bother with any others.
I really think it'd be better if they focused on getting planetary things hammered out before jumping full fledged into space with us.
Technically, our space would be all interior so I guess they could work on them concurrently just so long as they don't neglect the planets.

How about an actual Alien planet? because we have planets with dirt and rocks... Some new grass ? >.>
This shows the passion in DUST right now.... Where an art and game designers.. had 10 thousand planets and potentially all kinds of environments you could make, then...
Would you just go outside take a picture of a mountain and try and copy that with some rocks and hills and call it an "Alien" planet?
The fact that we don't have a singular foreign map entitiy and use of imagination on these distant planets, no giant Mushrooms?... Not even some weird Plants....
The entire alien feel DUST relies on is some cloudy DUST rushing by your screen..
Even the Attempt at a Snow map... CCP is from Iceland.. Where are the giant clear blue glaciers? chuncks of ice? Frozen lake? Snow effects? Would of been 1000x better then a volcano?
The passion in creating alien worlds for most Artists into Sci-FI is something they do as a hobby... CCP can't get people to do it as their main job. |

Ya true maybe it's something with the game engine and the programming.... I'm thinking this because CCP is looking for programmers for the shanghai team which is the team that works on dust 514.

What if at fan fest there is no PVE, no open world, no player market, no boarding titans, and many other things that are suppose to make this game unique? Say none of this came many months later after fan fest, but instead a few modes replacing the current ones but still PVP , new vehicles, and the rest of the other races MCC's.
I would continue to play*, but I wouldn't buy AUR. I might buy an active booster if they start an SP event, but that's it.
*Due to the overwhelming HAV problem that currently plagues Dust I play 1 - 4 matches a week.

I play games as I feel like it. I, personally, figure that if I continue to play occasionally that eventually a better version by someone else will exist or this game will get to where it can potentially go. Right now I'm playing a game, march is coming so I'm going to be slammed with at least two (Dark Souls 2 and MGSV) and another one I can't remember the name of that's like an ARPG by NiS which looks fun.
The way I look at it is that I'm invested, I have Aur, and it's fun enough to continue to play when convienent. I expect that eventually I'm going to log in, get a patch, sync up and all this cool stuff will show up. |

I might play if I didn't have another awesome game to go to which is destiny but I'm still hoping to be proven wrong about CCP being able to make this an MMO-FPS before destinys release.

But back to ORIGIAL post, no my CHALICE of PATIENCE overflow already for day three im already in GTA what is actually fun, i never liked races in GTA game before, but there its actually fun. Not like BORING deathfest here, honestly i stuck in till new patch and after i maybe stuck even longer. Till the DESTINY arive. CCP had everything, supporting COMMUNITY, great ideas and what i SAW after that time ingame, NOTHING interesting. Just griding for next levels, maybe some new weapons, but everything just FLAT and hell i dont even know for what i fighting. Just generic shooting and dying, NOTHING around. Not even impact on EVE universe what they promissed. Just nothing. DUST is king of flatness, by playability, by maps, by whole game techniques. Only one thing was insteresting, the LORE itself, but i was. CCP betray this also. And these reasons are the thing why i-Šll be inactive from now. All that FAILS are just on CCP heads, just by THEIR decissions and by THEIR behaviours AGAINST our COMMUNITY. Thats WHOLE story.

I've already started to move away from this "game".I just got a new video card for my PC,and I'm able to run a lot of the games that I have a lot better than I could just a few weeks ago.So from an economical standpoint,I'll be playing more PC games to get my money's worth right now.
Also,I'll more than likely be picking up a PS4 within the next few weeks as March is the month that we finally start to see some killer apps on it,MGSV and iNFamous:Second Son are two games that I'm very much looking forward to,and quite frankly,Dust won't be able to do anything to get my attention away from either of those games.
As far as FanFest goes,I just expect more empty promises, which will get them nowhere this time. There's always going to be those people that keep hanging on to this vaporware because of their optimism, but I'm fresh out and I'm just not buying the rotten bill of goods that CCP is selling anymore.
I guess in the long run,the only thing that will keep me really interested in Dust over the next year is MASSIVE improvements, both technical, like a higher framerate and less lag,and content like new maps, gear, game modes, and a player market.since none of those things are coming anytime soon, this game is way on the back burner for me.
Also, something that most people overlook about the failure both current and future,is how is CCP going to get more gamers interested and playing this game? This is supposed to be an MMO,but that's a misnomer as it's just an MO.There's absolutely nothing massive about this game, and that alone will be the ultimate failure of Dust, and the reason why most people will continue to feel that as a whole, the game is irrelevant.
I think the only real thing that make this different that any other shooter right now is that it has a passive SP gain. That alone keeps people at least interested and optimistic about the growth of their character. If Destiny or The Division wise up and add a passive XP gain system in their game, this game will be dead. |

I couldn't stick with the game anymore after 1.5 , sure the squad finder was neat but it was still the same lobby shooter. Came back after 1.7's release and not a surprise that it's still the same lobby shooter. It was good to play with people that I didn't talk to since I took that break.
But the game was still the same, I like the new rifles but that's it really. As of right now it's just an FPS, no MMO side to it at all. I don't see how people use the SP as an excuse to log in, the passive SP is just fine with me.
I stopped playing about a week ago, I won't be back until 1.8 IF it's even worth it. I don't care about new suits, it's just another way to play the same modes we've been stuck with. And if it's just new dropsuits then I'll wait until fanfest/hypefest, and if there is nothing there then I know that I have nothing to worry about. Destiny looks like a pretty good MMO-FPS.

If the FPS PvP experience improves (all racial suits/weapons, balanced matches/weapons/vehicles) most will wait up until the time 1.9 and the proposed skill tree 2.0 is balanced.
If the match making system doesn't balance the teams you'll see the game die due to lack of new blood. And those elite who avoid facing each other in matches will be forced to play a truly balanced match because there won't be anyone left but elite players.
I can see Dark Souls 2 and a few other upcoming games hurting Dust 514 player base but nothing hurts it more than its current BS matchmaking system.

Until this game can get it's Frame rates, Latency, Rubber Banding, Server/Cleint Updating.. Aim Mechanics... Terrain and Collision Mechanics... in check...
It's a game that can't even run stable... Facilitate competitive play in DUST is even near impossible now with the lag and frame rates...
This game as it is right now can't even Perform to basic Videogame standards for the Average user.
Without even a hint or a whisper that CCP is trying to optimize it... Or proof that they have improved it at all.... In a year..
If DUST 514 can't even operate at ps3 console standards.... It's just a lot of fluff that is marketed well packaged into a broken game.
However sad that revelation is... It's the current state of DUST. A Laggy Glitchy, Crashing, 10 FPS, Unbalanced Lobby shooter. on the ps3.
Sadface.

A Laggy Glitchy, Crashing, 10 FPS, Unbalanced Lobby shooter. on the ps3. Sadface.
So many problems for CCP to take care of but.... there are so many ideas for that link between EVE and Dust plus the MMO possibilities with this game. They've had so much to work on and it seems just now they are deciding to get serious about this game (go to CCP's main website then the job area, then look in the Shanghai openings) and Destiny isn't that far away. Did I mention that Destiny isn't just gonna be on the next gen consoles but also the current gen consoles.

So you're saying that nothing hurts this game more than the game itself?

lol I've been here for nearly two years and I've waited too long man!! The only reason I haven't completely abandoned this game is because there aren't any other FPS-MMO games on the ps3 yet.... cuz you know Destiny comes out in September. But I'm thinking about making my own gaming PC and there's Planet side 2 and maybe a year or two from now The Division.

I will stay because the game is fun to me.
Untill patch notes are released and then the severs come back up after the content is released is the only time I get my hopes up. CCP talks in future visions and they work towards those goals and because some of them are so far in the future they can't create an accurate timeline for release. Unforeseen problems and setbacks hurt deadlines, coding isn't easy and it has to work on one server shard across multiple platforms.
After a full racail lineup of suits and weapons CCP's goal should be to release player trading as soon as possible. The market can wait a while but player trading needs to happen. We can already trade ISK now we need to be able to trade items. We haven't been released a year yet and we have made some progress. Trading should be the next item on their list because it is badly needed and wanted.

I would say the same thing when looking at the progress that has been made ( "and we have made some progress") , but in this case some is 5%. I've been here for nearly two years and I don't get how people can still have so much fun in these modes. Sure with a squad there can be awesome moments but really you can only play the same few modes over and over again until your mind comes out of this weird mode that's kept you playing over and over again. Where you believed that this is an MMO-FPS, that this game is going to be amazing no matter what other games come out. That unlike other Shooters this game is actually in a universe where your choices matter.
And when your mind has come out of this stage you realize that this isn't an MMO-FPS, there are other games like Destiny which is an MMO-FPS that are going to hurt the population of this game if the game stays as a lobby shooter, the battles are meaningless and no matter what choices you make in these battles your not achieving anything but making your wallet bigger to spend it on suits for the constant same battles.
In the end you realize that nothing you do is achieving anything until CCP lets us out of our quarters, Destroy EVE ships, Trade between players in EVE and Dust, Pay EVE players for services and the other way around, and lets us affect New Eden which is the main reason nearly all of us are here.

MAG was massive, this game maybe thinks by MMO another acronyme. I thing its not a Massive Multiplayer but Mediocre Multiplayer XD
I never played MAG but I've played with a few people that came from MAG , judging by what people from MAG have said when comparing Dust to MAG it seems that MAG got plenty of things right that Dust hasn't apparently

da GAND wrote:Now this is a question mainly for those that support CCP and believe that they can succeed.
What if at fan fest there is no PVE, no open world, no player market, no boarding titans, and many other things that are suppose to make this game unique? Say none of this came many months later after fan fest, but instead a few modes replacing the current ones but still PVP , new vehicles, and the rest of the other races MCC's.
Would you be willing to wait until fan fest of 2015 not knowing for sure what would be revealed there? But you know that PVE is close as it ever has been or the player market at least?
Yes and no. If we don't have AT LEAST player market by this years fanfest ill just leave again and wait till next year. Not like I have benn playing much lately anyways.
The question is not if I can or can not, but who is going to stop me?
