Cal scouts can get well below 15dB. Gëê13.7, actually.
45-(45*.35) = 29.25dB (skills alone)
29.25-(29.25*.532) = 13.7 (4 cplx precision mods)
Stacking penalty formula taken from here. To my knowledge, the stacking penalty is the same in Eve.

Interesting, so your actually adding your %'s together? I was always told otherwise
Also even if you were adding your percentages together, your second part seems off (or I'm off) I got 54.4 compared to your 53.2
20+17.4+11.4+5.6
So... what did I goof on?

its
(suit bonus 1) * (skill bonus 1) * (module bonus 1) * (DR module bonus 2) * ( DR module bonus 3) etc etc
each module is calculated seperatly and stacks with previous modules but suffers from diminishing returns (stacking penalty DR) for every module past the 2nd.

Well, in high school algebra maybe. But Eve Online and Dust 514 (both developed by CCP) operate under the following principle...
1. Skill Book percentages per level are added before being applied. Example: Minmatar Scout Dropsuit Operation (5% NK damage per level) at level 5 = 25% total.
2. Modules don't add their percentages together before being applied. Example: First Basic Sidearm Damage Mod (3%) is multiplied against the base before applying the second damage mod, then the third, fourth, etc.

You are all terrible at math.
A Caldari with four complex precision enhancers would have a scan precision of 16.78 dB. The following equation demonstrates how this number is arrived at:
Profile dampening skill is calculated thusly: 1 + .2 GÇó Lv = x
45x(1 - .25) GÇó (1 - .2) GÇó (1 - (.869 GÇó .2)) GÇó (1 - (.571 GÇó .2)) GÇó (1 - (.283 GÇó .2)) = 16.78

This I knew, but what about two different skill books multiplying the same skill? I thought they were multiplied

This is what I thought it was, which I thought contradicted what vulpes had (or I read it wrong)

you never add together
This is how I thought it operated, but it contradicts the earlier poster who added the precision skill and the caldari precision skill together to get 35%, which is why I was confused.
That being the case the number should look like / be calculated like this then
45(.9)(.75)=30.375 base skill 30.375(.8)(.826)(.886)(.944)=16.78, which means the chart is correct, I did think it was this way initially, my confidence was just shaken from seeing the other post. |

Here's the formula 45*0.9*0.75*0.8*(1-(0.2*0.869))*(1-(0.2*0.571))*(1-(0.2*0.283)). That's Caldari scanning with all complex precision enhancers. Sub in adv or basic if you need to.
I'll do the math for you. No enhancers:30.375. 1 complex enhancer: 24.3. 2 mods: 20.076. 3 mods: 17.3839. 4 mods: 16.7773.
Gal can dampen to 23.625Db with just skills. With 4 complex dampeners 11.483. 1 complex and 1 enhanced dampener gets to 14.6392, enough to get below any scanner except the focused from a Gal Logi.

lol calling me terrible at math.... then you proceed to use the exact same math but with numbers instead of words
also simplify if your going to try to be all specific, 1-.25 is the exact same as .75, 1-.2 =.8, etc etc etc |

Don't know what you're talking about. My comment wasn't directed at you, which should have been obvious by the math involved. Also, it was a demonstration of how the math is arrived at, not trying to ease the burden trying to teach. The equation I posted was very accurate. If you want accurate results you'll follow my math.

Gah! These maths is burnin' my eyes!
Since you are all adding up bonuses from modules, I'll ask this here GÇö looking at the info below, with the vehicle core skill for module cooldown, am I right in just taking 25% for lvl 5 and multiplying that by the base cooldown (60) to get the proper amount of reduced cooldown?
Complex vehicle shield hardener: 60sec cooldown and 24sec active.
That would be 60sec being reduced to 45sec an 24 being increased to 30?
Don't give me those weird symbols. I'm not a math nerd; I'm an artist. Equations hurt my eyes.
