With 2 complex dampeners i can get underneath proto scanners on a medium frame suit. Hell im even so crazy i shield tank my gallente medium frame suit and put 2 dampeners, a repper and a green biotic on the lowslots. And it does work quite well cause all the muppets with scanners who spin in a circle dont see me coming. I cant tell how many times people walked past me cause they only looked on the radar.
Sure you can have much more HP then me but what does it any good if a full squad of hostiles knows your exact location? I literally never got scanned when i run my stealth class. It aswell helps to hide against tanks with their active scanners. Hell even the -10% from the skill itself is helpfull cause standard scanners cant pick you up when you have a mdeium frame or lower.
They are a cheap gimmick, scans should be done via the suit, this would even play out alot

Dampened med frames are a pain to my gal scout (for the same reason as other scouts) so in general, good job on adapting. That's only in reference to my passive scanners (which requires a crazy amount of SP and at least one complex mod on a specific suit to achieve anywhere near what an adv active or even basic can do).
The advantage of active scanners is supposed to be the superior range, light up time, team share and much easier to increase precision of detection.
The dis-advantages are supposed to be the actual activation time and limited scan cover area - which suggests its supposed to be used tactically.
The first dis-advantage doesn't turn out to be much of one on its own and the second just wasn't/isn't in effect at all because of all the budding ballerinas we have. The tactical nature of active scans has turned into perma wall hacks instead.
When that is fixed I believe that will actually make gal/cal scouts the best users of active scanners/actual intel gathering. It's much easier for me to know where a group of reds are and paint them for the squad. The gal-logi wont be able to spin around and paint every red within a 100m radius like they can do now - making blind scans as often as people do now a relative waste of time.
In turn, I believe this will reduce the value running damps/scout frames. As someone else said - current 360 scanning imparts a false sense of confidence and awareness to the user whiich can be taken advantage of.
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

Dust where we complain that ttk is way too low but also act like 200 ehp makes it impossible to win a fight.
Scanners are fine for the most part. Th only op scanner is the proto focused and that'll be fixed in 1.8
Sorry brick tanked med frames. Scouts and stealth builds actually have a role now. Deal with it. Nerfing scanners nerfs scouts so no. Also passive scanning is not up compared to scanners and will be OP in 1.8. The benifite of having constant data is amazing and worth the ehp hit. Ill take it for hacking protection alone. But ccp needs to make invis spawners show on radar at least. Like half my deaths come from folks spawning in and taking out my scout before he can see them. |

I agree with the general sentiment here, but feel for say a min-assault who can't catch a break: they could do everything I would do to avoid LOS, then suddenly get 'you have been scanned' and then has a couple of heavies with RRs looking in their direction - who would have had no idea were it not for 360 spin.
Assaults at least should be able to flank if they are being smart and the enemy is hung up on single blue formation - instead they may as well brick it up, stick with the squad and fire at the enemy until only one side is left standing. In which case they may as well go heavy with RR or just bite the bullet and go scout so they can actually play tactically.
