Any corp who cares about KDR is not worth joining, not necessarily because they are dicks (though they probably are) but because KDR is such a misleading statistic that depends more on luck and role than skill. Luck as in who you are matched up against and role because tankers and snipers should have highest KDR, followed by sentinels, then assault and scout, finally logi (if they are a real logi).
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.

Also THIS. Find something that you're good at, and excel at it.
Before we moved over to FA, I was in SyNergy gaming, before that I was in CrimeWave (Also in CW in MAG). When I applied to SyN my KDR was around 1.2 but they were more than happy to have me on their side because I was the SINGLE reason that they started carrying Flux grenades due to my love of RE. (They told me this the first day I joined them) after a while playing with them I noticed that the "Ever important KDR" was going up and up. I think I hit 8.3 at my highest, then I discovered scouts and logis and its been dropping ever since.
I've never put down my RE's and I'll continue to do my best to use them to set traps, kill tanks, watch objectives, and generally **** everyone off to the point that when people see me on the other side they get scared to wander off alone because they know I'll be hiding somewhere watching them, just waiting for them to get in range of one of the 15 remotes I have around the map.
Teamwork > all in this game, regardless of gear or KDR. Even FWA can manage to win a match against a bunch of randoms if they have a couple squads in game and they are all working together, even when most of them consistently go 5+ deaths over kills.
I am here to ask you one question, and one question only: EXPLOSIONS?

Cripple corps? So what would happend in your opinion if KDR gets reset? Players would just continue to play as they wish as usual and rebuild their KDR. People like me have like 250 mil ISK or more and can play with the expensive stuff all day long. And no i didnt bought any AUR gear ever and all my fits are purely bought with ISK.
Its quite simple: -good players barely die in pub matches so they naturally allmost allways make profit -crap players die 24-7 non stop and go like 0-13 constantly so they need to stick with cheap stuff or buy AUR gear.
If you like it or not this game might be free to play but good players force the crap players into a corner. And ya know thats why there is aswell PC. Corps in PC generate millions of ISK each day passively which means they get ISK rich. When you are rich you can use shiny stuff without the need to worry if you can actually afford that gear. The constant stomps frustrate the crap players and because they are poor they have only 1 option to get at least on the same gear lvl as the rich players. And that my friend is AUR. AUR sales help to fund development cost, server costs etc. which is the ecconomical base for CCP.
However it doesnt matter if you got the biggest club, the person who wields the biggest club is more important. Which means even if you would have 60 million SP a crap player will allways be a crap player. Hand-eye coordination, situational awareness and teamwork cannot be bought for any ISK or AUR in the world.
I shall show you a world, a world which you cant imagine, a world full off butthurt n00bs at the other end of my gun

To be fair though, all the stats that are tracked right now are pretty meaningless. Really high KDR people tend to be tanks and snipers, really high WP people are mostly just spamming equipment (uplinks in particular) and not always in good places (again uplinks in particular... why the fck is it in the middle of the road?!?!?!), and high WLR people just tend to get put on the right side of stacked matches.

Everything I do in this game, I do for the tears.
I got hatemail recently for using a Templar ScR on a Templar Sentinel. So I used it exclusively on the same guy in the next match.
I saw a Blueberry using a Thale's in FW. So I executed him with a breach ScP to the back of the head.
And in those occasions when I'm running with a good squad, I'll pull out the proto gear just to make the poor reds squeal.

Since that is not going to happen, I suppose my complex kinkats + RE will be the only defense from PROTOS IN PUBLIC MATCHS FARMING KDR POINTS WHO QUIT IF THEY COME AGAINST ANY REAL OPPOSITION.
This one time, me and my buddy spawned it and it was 2 versus 6, and he is like, "wanna drop" and I said, "why, this is the first fair fight I have seen today". Dropped my militia tank and blew up a LAV roaring in. Thing had NINE remote explosives on it. Then was shortly killed by a proto blaster tank, piloted by a proto gal logi with a second LAV coming in behind it................THEN I quit match.
There are everything that is wrong with this game, I realized, why am I working so hard at this, by the time I am near the same level destiny will be out and I will probably be quitting anyways. Why take the pain, I have been playing for 3 months now, got 2 others to join and you have made public matches, nay, this game, miserable. ItGÇÖs funny, first month, ofph, this is rough, second month, I am getting stuff, cool, I can fit this now, third month, this sucks, I am still 8 mil away from even being competitive. When ttk is under 2 secs and people get 1/2 sec advantage over you due to SP, and it will take 4 more months with boosters to get there, man, this sh*t is broken.
I use proto amarr logi with compact nives and a adv weapon, I run solo..... |

L5 biotics L5 shield upgrades L5 armour upgrades
PRO SCR 2x complex damage mods 2x enhanced armour plates 1x nanohive
~220 shield 449 armour 6.64m/s sprint speed if i'm not mistaken, or perhaps 6.44.
if they scan you relentlessly, ALWAYS have a charge shot running. This suit and loadout is badass and will have protos running away in fear. Once they see you're shooting 100+hp per round at them, they will turn and run.
Plus the suit only costs 35K ISK, something like that.
You don't need a tonne of SP, just damage mods and a powerful weapon xD
Also heavies are completely nullified. Charge shot their face from medium distance and laugh.
Also using the Viziam you will one shot perhaps 25% of the dropsuits you will come across.

one reason ive suggested an optional restriction type system for the game. so we get better more balanced matches.
problem was that it was ignored alot and the few ppl that did respond were proto bears that bitched about even though they had no reason to complain as it would have been an optional thing for the player to set up for just himself. |

I probably went about this thread all wrong, I am not bitching, I know what this game is like, I have been playing 3 months and just got to a little over 4 mil SP so this isn't even possible yet. Where I am coming from, how in the h3ll can I possibly get new people to join and keep playing with the state of the game like this, you are telling me it takes half a year to start being good IF you can play the SCR (which, lets be honest, is an artform for a lot of people) |

OFT. As an example, yesterday I went 48-1 defending 1 objective solo. Can't remember what the map is called, but is the newer one with B on high ground overlooking a CRU and A is underground. I successfully defended B all by my lonesome self while 15 other players had the luxury of keeping their attention on the other 3. I held it on my own for 98% of the match, with my only death coming at the end when my ammo was scarce. I respawned and immediately took it back. Tell me HOW IN THE WORLD we still lost?

There have been plenty of posts looking out for the new guys. The problem is those of us with 20+ million SP and a KDR that doesn't illicit snickers don't agree with the handouts new players cry for. Me, I say you join a good corp and let us vets remove some of your more stupid FPS habits. Run with good players, and you become a good player. That is how I did it.
On the other hand, new players want CCP to design systems and protections that cater to them. They want proto disallowed in pubs, or tanks disallowed in ambush. They want stat reset or skill points reset. They cry for literally anything that keeps them from having to own up to two facts.
1. They need to get better at the game. This may involve gun game, role change, or decision making.
2. No, you can't join a freakin nothing corp filled with nothing players and expect to grow and learn as a player. A wise man surrounds himself with many counselors. Surround yourself with players who are better then you... Then learn from them. Kingbabar(w/e his name is) offered to take new players in his squad. All they did was moan and complain about his proto gear. That's the attitude of entitled children, not players who want to better themselves.
You keep asking CCP for welfare instead of making something of yourself...

in short it sounds like your solution to the problem is to "become the problem".
no offence intended.
the game itself is a progressive learning system.
but u cant really make a complete noob that has played for along time into a 'good player".
the newbs. on dust from what i can tell from some of the bitching and complaining of all the many different sides to the problem is really only a few reasons.
the main obstacle for newer players to the game is the pub stomping. its still going on none the less.
(and we have quite a few on each side who are complete idiots with a secret agenda.).
making that learning curb easier for the new player would make the game better for most of em. i myself my prefer playing may prefer playing on the easiest difficulty of some games. but im also skilled enough to play on some of the much harder difficulties. like legendary in halo. or skyrim..
in a multiplayer such as this there is no changing difficulty. because u are always being pitted against several different players of varying skill level.
a pve mode could solve this obstacle for some. but not for those who enjoy the pvp part of the game but absolutely hate one sided matches in general.

I'm sure it's been said a number of times so far, but resetting KD/R wouldn't do a thing to keep people from proto stomping, nor would getting rid of it. A reset would just mean most people would have their KD/R soar (My 2.83 would likely be at a 4.0 or higher if I got a reset) I've never personally run with anyone who was like what you mentioned, OP, though I'm not surprised they exist. It's more about investing in core skills at this point and running with squads than anything else, but the most important thing is to have fun. If you're always playing just to win, this game gets boring very quickly. Having silly setups just to screw with people can be a blast and doesn't require a lot of SP, especially if you know where to put that SP in the first place.
You're in a scout corporation, so I'm guessing you're in the Scouts United chat channel. If not, I'd recommend joining that and squading up with, I don't think most people in there cares about their KD/R, or yours for that matter.

Soo, this is crazy, I started this post on Feb 10, 2014 and had forgotten about it, someone just added a comment and refreshed it for me. With all the boosters and SP events that CCP put out (as they were planning for the destruction of their player base and the death of their game) I went from 8 mil SP to 14 mil SP in about 3 months. I'd say this is the hardest time of anyone in this game. Up to and at 8 mil you can get to those 4/5 skills and feel like you are really improving, but as I now know 4/5 isn't **** compared to 5/5 and being able to use complex.
I look back at all of my complaints as a beginning player, and it's really messed up that after 4 months of playing you are still a "beginning" player in this game. Actually I don't even know why I am posting this, I want CCP to fail at life so I'd rather not give them any feedback on how to make a better game. I suppose this is for the players still trying to git gud at this game (even though I have walked away). One of my favorite things was teaching new players so they didn't have to walk the same path I did since your instructions and NPE is so GD awful.
One day everything clicks, and you go from 8/6 to 28/2 and it's a world of difference. You don't even have a problem with those other matches where you get proto'ed cause you know every time you get a kill you are costing people money. (The cloak was a game changer honestly).
