Dear CCP,
Can we have an official statement?
It seems that:
1) BLACK AND WHITE: Refund of dropsuit tree could not be argued against (rationally)
2) GREY AREA: refund of upgrade and weapons trees are debatable (based on 'life-choices' related to dropsuit tree)
3) BLACK AND WHITE: vehicle tree un-related.
'The rules are the rules', with a change the rules, it's only fair you allow players to put their houses in order. Please advise at the nearest opportunity (exact details of suit differences need not be decided for this).

Go watch Atli Mar's words at the Q&A of the EVE Vegas DUST 514 presentation. That's been my personal pillar of persuasion for a respec. It's around the 45 min mark, in answer to a question of racial parity.

seeing as they are introducing the full racial suits and changing every skill bonus then its only fair that the dropsuit command skillpoints and isk are refunded. vehicles got it in 1.7 so its only reasonable to expect the same for infantry too. nothing else needs refunding. weapons can still be used. ooh whats that~? you have prof 3 in hmgs? so use a militia suit. it'll still kick a**

I would bet most of my isk that they will do the same thing they did for vehicles.

My LP store Imperial Viziam Specialist crystal ball says they are definitely giving a dropsuit tree refund, do not currently plan to do weapons, and are still deciding about dropsuit upgrades.

What I'd love to see is...
1. CCP give everyone a full dropsuit & weapon respec.
2. They make one proto dropsuit and one proto weapon completely overpowered.
3. They wait for everyone to spec into those.
4. Then they apply a hotfix that nerfs the *** out of that dropsuit & weapon.
5. Then they say "no more respecs, HTFU".

Just don't get your hopes up for a respec. Please. None of us wants to deal with the storm of QQ that overinflated hopes in that direction may bring.
As I tell corp mates all the time. Expect it not to happen. That way if it does happen you'll be pumped and if it doesn't you won't even bat an eyelid.

why should their be respecs at all? because the people who trained into the best possible suit suddenly find themselves not as competitive as people who were SO EDGY as to train into something that wasnt #1 but suddenly is until the next rebalance?
EVE only receives respecs when a skill is completely removed, because if every major rebalance warranted a full respec, people would ONLY have the new "flavor of the month" trained, and CCP would therefore have too narrow of an equipment usage spread to accurately rebalance, meaning their next rebalance will yield yet another FOTM with more respecs and more people all training for the same thing.
respecs are bad, you chose something because it was powerful, now its no longer powerful, learn to deal with the people you spent dumping all over in pubs because they dared to train something sub-optimal being better fitted until you train it yourself.
TL;DR, respecs are given out way too much in DUST already, self-entitlement has reached critical levels, people need to learn to deal with it and ACTUALLY train into new modules instead of CCP patting them on the head and letting them move all their SP into the new shiny **** without time or cost. |

If they were dead set against a respec they would have no reason to be talking about it. I expect some form of skill refund based on them discussing it. The question remains how much Sp will I get back.

I train for something, next patch it is suddenly changed and different and it forces players to grind out of their situation. that is what is currently happening almost every patch and 1.8 is no different when no respec is given. how long do you think will those people that are affected by that every time bother to continue this grind mode every patch? |

Interesting. Since this is the big 'racial parity in dropsuits etc' release, presumably the plan is for a major skill refund with 1.8. The best evidence yet that a full infantry respec is incoming. |
