DUST Search - [request] Squad member names

We used to have that back when TacNet did what it was supposed to do as documented in the beginning videos. If a squad member saw a red then the entire squad knew it was there. Anybody you saw was visible as well as their name. Just looking in direction of a blue gave you their name. That was all removed just prior to the release of the fabulously useless scanners.

Of course, scanners will get nuked here in 1.8 so they will be even more useless than before. Instead of being able to give a merc a reliable view of their surroundings they will only give a snapshot in one direction and none of them will show the cloaked scouts waiting to stab you in the back. Such fun.

My reasoning on them being useless is that they only provide a small percentage of what TacNet did, waste SP/ISK and suck up an equipment slot so fewer mercs run injectors. More clones lost, faster battles and useless gear based on somebody's pet project. All a clear win for CCP/Shanghai and a clear loss for every player in Dust514.

Lightning Bolt2 Binary Mercs 376	Posted - 2014.02.09 19:06:00 - [1] - Quote everyone in a squad needs to be able to tell whos who in their squad while in combat to survive, instead of potentialy dying to aim directly at an ally to see his name. it could work well by having any squad mamber on your screen to have their name just above their chevron or health gauge so we are able to tell between mambers of the squad easilly, and for anyone who doesn't want this have an option to turn it on/off (default on to help new players). I was here when the squad vision was here (anyone seen will show up on tacnet) I'm requesting to only be able to see SQUAD names... and FYI scanners are currently OP, not useless!
