How do we develope more conscious blueberries? How do we create a known standard throughout the dust community to where we're not cussing the day that random blueberry was born?
How do we get the assault blueberry to know what needs to be done even if he's not in squad? The sniper NEWberry to realize there are 5 snipers on our team already?! How do we get them to cover our movements when we move forward, stop picking us up in front of tanks, and stop driving off with empty lav's?
To fix these common issues, we must do more than complain about them. I propose we start addressing them here. I know some negative nancy is going to say "just deal with it" because he's an idiot without a brain, but I want the smart guys here to give me their ideas in this post.
Also in practice, realize that the things you do to help bluberries in battle may cause him to join your cause. We can only call in so many lav's so wait to fill it with squadmates and/or blues as it is more benficial to have 3 guys on a point than 1 and a blown up lav?! If you see a heavy pic him up in your lav before he gets sniped, and heavies get yourself a ride bro!
Dropships! Fill the damn bay man! Assault! Get out of the man's dropship!!! One of the main reasons vehicles rarely rock CRU's is abuse of their vehicle?! Spawn on the dropship, wait for 2 more guys, then jump! If you see guys jumping hit circle!
If a vehicle has a CRU in it, use it to spawn! Not hide! Tanks sometimes have them, so I spawn and get out immediately! Using the tank for support so someone else can spawn behind me. Not so i can rack up free points like a scrub?!
The key here is TACTICS.... not opportunity?!
So i'm open to suggestions, stories of the experienced, and ideas!

Though satisfying, it doesn't fix the problem?! I honestly think CCP should revamp the team chat to where squad is automatic, and team chat is push to talk. This would enable us to let them know we're hitting bravo, or they're about to be hit at charlie.

I know it may seem a bit redundant, but maybe AI warning alerts that let new players know an area is being overrun? Obviously the point is blinking, but to a newb that just means what? If there were flash warning that read "team members at delta are outnumbered" maybe a novice would think to reinforce that area? Wishful thinking i know?!

As a lonewolf(blueberry), comms would better if there was a way for squad leaders to communicate with the team or even other squads, not just their own guys. Even if we dont want to squad up, i would like to think most of us want to win. I try to avoid the squads because theres no point in everybody hitting C when B is unguarded. But sometimes we all end up at the same objective.
Great job, team. Head back to the MCC for debriefing and cocktails.

Hm...
I know, have another server to place them all with ContraBanJoe and all of FWA. CBJ can be papa smurf in all his blueness and he can help all the other smurfs reproduce and smurf around. They can smurf each other all day and night and smurf **** up. If one of the smurfs actually shows the ability to learn, they can become a booger like the rest of us. Until then, smurf with each other in your Java the Hutt palace with papa smurf CBJ.
or we send Activision a letter saying:
"Dear Activision, considering how you already have enough dumb***** who lack the ability to learn, can we send you our blue berries who lack basic motor functions? In exchange, we get to keep the ones who can actually learn. - love CCP's little orphan bastards <3 xoxo"

I donGÇÖt wait for other teammates to get into my vehicles for two reasons: I often only want to use it for transport, not engagements, and I donGÇÖt like having to replace vehicles stolen by my GÇ£teammatesGÇ¥ that have other ideas. I'd change my tune if there was a "GTFO of my ride" feature, of if my teammates couldn't pilot my vehicle until I died or something.
As far as new players having the wherewithal to notice there are already X snipers on their team, I donGÇÖt think this realistic. First, you canGÇÖt tell whoGÇÖs doing what right awayGÇöyouGÇÖd have to wait a minute to see what everyone had fitted and where everyone went, etc. Additionally, the new guys are the ones that need the practice, so it seems like the community-conscious vet would want to step down as a sniper for the match and do something else.
I donGÇÖt like to squad up because I WANT TO ACTUALLY PLAY. Too often IGÇÖve found that squad play is slow paced and the leader cherry picks matches. Maybe if you have a group of regulars or are in the same corp, but if you arenGÇÖt, rando-squading is just awful.

You are right about the ride thieves! CCP refuse to introduce the "ejecto seato" button so I can not blame a pilot for not wanting to have riders. There should also be the ability to communicate to the blues to "JUMP"! When a pilot gets to a good destination, who ever is aboard gets the strike order! Who ever stays gets "ejecto seato" next to the lav full of heavies
Your idea about the dropship only being comondierable after the pilot dies is also good. We all have complained about the mechanics of vehicle transportation?! CCP seems to cater to whiners more than logical strategist. They gave us the 5-15 sec wait which is just a different type of crutch from our previous predicament?! Just give us doors to open if we want randoms in the vehicles, or a setting check box. They claim pro choice with dropsuits, but not so much on the ability to choose who can stay in the vehicle and when?!
If running solo I will squad up for that match, then after the match if it takes longer than 2 mins to start I leave. That way I keep it moving, but am also assisting a squad in battle. Side note to that is if you have squad members who constantly have to restock after every battle? May I suggest a pow wow on financial and time management ::)
All valid points though bro thank you ::)

Eventually I think having some sort of PVE skirmish where some vets could get in and basically run easy mode games so that they can explain to new players how it all works would greatly help the current situation.
The generally negative attitude that has been displayed is rather off putting though. Odds are that most of the blueberries that everyone keeps saying are just idiots are probably in fact just uninformed. There is a lot of complexity to the game that is very poorly explained. To say that such a large portion of the player base is useless and can't ever contribute has to come from some sort of Napoleonic complex to make oneself feel more important. |

The culture change needs to begin with reaching out and training those in need. There are resources availbe on how to best play your role and we should point players to those resources. (immediately felt bad for each time a hit someone with jesus sticks in the middle of a firefight). The academy teaches you how to hold your AR. Thats it. Nowhere does it teach you about squading, productive team roles, appropriate use of gear or what the expectation of other team members. It is the task of each player to train others, and there is real beauty in that, but that is so much harder than just bitching about it.

Exactly!!! The "stupid blueberry' is probably just the "bluebery who started a week ago?!" Not having a way to comm up with the other squads can cause confusion, terrible assumptions, and massive misunderstandings?! Your squad is wondering why we won't push bravo when we got charlie, and we're wondering why no one has a forge gun for the blaster tank pinning us down at charlie lol?!
This idea could work wonders for clearing up a whole host of rivalries as well lol!

This would require everyone to have a mic and the ability for everyone on a team to communicate with each other. At the very least it would require battle plans prior to the match, however since team assignment is random, giving away battle plans would eventually come back to hurt you. There really isn't a good way to get people not on your squad to follow a plan, unless you have some manor of communicating during a match.
Quote:The sniper NEWberry to realize there are 5 snipers on our team already?! How do we get them to cover our movements when we move forward, stop picking us up in front of tanks, and stop driving off with empty lav's?
How exactly would a Newberry know that there are already five snipers? It's not like the game gives you a notice about that. With LAV's I'd much rather have a blue steal my LAV then a red. But the game should allow you to lock your LAV. That way if you die, someone on your team can steal it, but if you were to run to the objective, it would be safe for your return.
I had the issue where this guy wouldn't get out of my LAV to hack the objective, so when I hopped out leaving him to man the gun (which was pretty awesome if he would have covered me). Instead, he just hops in my LAV and runs off.

I think the only problem here is with 16+ people playing and the risk of checking the map to see where people are, this isn't a realistic idea. Basically communication during the game between anything more than a small group of people will likely not work out well. |

I would like to see vehicle locks as modules that you have to skill into and apply to a vehicle. Also, a recall function added to the locks:
No skill-no locks-recall as it is now. Lvl 1-std/basic locks, much like we have now. 5 sec wait-to-enter time. Recall as is Lvl3 -adv locks. Squad access without wait, team access after 10sec. Recall vehicle even when team member is inside (blueberry returned unharmed to mcc) Lvl5 -proto locks. Squad only access, vehicle able to be remotely recalled. ) (blueberry inside returned unharmed to mcc)
Allows owners to secure high value vehicles, allows vehicles to be depoyed for others and allows owners to manage deployed veihcles deployed for team use. |

There will always be blueberries, and their stupidity with always be impossible to explain.
We haven't pinpointed the cause, but numbers of blueberries seem to go down for a month or 2 after a new CoD game is released.

Next time you see five or six snipers are sitting the hills when the shish is hitting the fan, run up there and check out their names, you might be surprised, I was today.
Some are no doubt blueberries, some were vets whose names we would all know, probably wanted to relax and snipe instead of going try hard to compete with some of the everyday proto squads.
Just sayin...

This seems to be leaning 2 ways:
1) Communication 2) Education
I'm not sure if the education angle would be adequately addressed until CCP implements a PVE training option, objective based training (still always think back to the Half-Life obstacle course), or a location/match type where vets can train new mercs in a universally known setting.
Communication on the other hand would be a boon. Even the simplest directions between squad mates or teams would be beneficial but the mechanics shouldn't rely on mics, as not all new players will have them.
What about showing text messages sent using the "select" button onscreen and CCP provides a quick list of directions? "advance...A", "hold", "ammo"
We can already access the screen and select the team or squad channel to chat on. Anyone notice well after the fact when someone sends you a message but you had no idea till you look for it?

[quote=CRNWLLC]I donGÇÖt wait for other teammates to get into my vehicles for two reasons: I often only want to use it for transport, not engagements, and I donGÇÖt like having to replace vehicles stolen by my GÇ£teammatesGÇ¥ that have other ideas. I'd change my tune if there was a "GTFO of my ride" feature, or if my teammates couldn't pilot my vehicle until I died or something.
^ This.
Although, I would like to take a couple blues with me in my LAV at the start of the match, but no....
Why? Because CCP said you have to wait 20 fkn seconds to get in my LAV!! If every driver does this at the start of the match, the match is proably going to be lost since the enemy will have all the objectives before you get anywhere.
Before you even say it.... No, 20secs alone is not a deciding factor, but how often do you have to wait around 3mins trying to call in a LAV because half the team wants to call in a tank and blow turrets up?!

2Berries wrote:I would like to see vehicle locks as modules that you have to skill into and apply to a vehicle.
If this is the only way to get locks then I would support it.
But I really hate the idea of having to skill into the vehicle 1st, and then I have to skill into something else just to keep it. Locking should be included on the vehicle. In the real world, what vehicles allow you to just jump in and drive away?
Also, if you are doing locks by skill, then Level 5 should not have squad access, maybe level 4 would still have it.
But if you have some nut job in your squad with no mic, that you didn't invite, then you have the same problem you have without locks, albeit, not as prevalent.
But still, if you are going to make it a proto level skill, then I want absolute control of the vehicle for that cost of skill up and buying that module.

Just recently, I started emailing blueberries and trying to guide them to the rookie section. Some are met with resistance (I understand, getting a letter that states in so many words you need to go to the rookie section can cause a general negative reaction) but after a few exchanges and they realize my intention, they say thanks for the help. I can only hope they take me up on it and see what's going on.
King Babar is setting up the squads for newbs to come join him as they learn tactics.
All that I ask of CCP is that they use those four panels of screen (the smaller ones in the MQ) to advertise the community's new effort in helping the blueberry. We all know the majority of blueberries hardly ever visit the forums.
Now I join random squads in pubs and try to help by sharing info with players. I know its not much but I want to do something to help blueberries up to speed on how it is New Eden and what can be done about it.

I drive away with an empty LAV because the blue cannot figure how to get my vehicle or they will steal it when I stop to hack an objective instead of trying to help me hack
