So, they're faster than you, bigger than you, meaner than you and uglier than you. What are your strategies when you're getting proto stomped?
Personally, I grab my militia minmitar light frame and speedily go around them.
I lay drop uplinks to communicate with my team. It's like saying, "Hey, my people, let's work together and get tactical.
If I need a dropship, I call the RDV behind the biggest structure I can find.
I sneak around and only engage in one-on-one encounters if I have the advantage.
Only hack once you're certain that the area is clear, and a buddy is watching your back.
If I see someone in trouble, I try to flank the enemy to distract them, or form a defensive line.
If you're getting stomped, lay down fire to prevent losing ground. Shoot out from behind cover at 45 degree angles.
Focus on using all of your firepower before you get killed. Your team needs the help. Every grenade, every last bullet.
If your blueberries are disorganized, consider them a distraction to the enemy while you get some real work done.

Remote Explosives. Need I say more? Any area denial weapon is good, they travel in packs. Best deal is to get away and drop a drop uplink some place where Every one can regroup. |

Proto stomping matches are going to happen. Just as in "real life," you may be outgunned, outmanned, outmatched. Deal with it. Don't get upset at something you can't control.
The main thing I've found is to try and not get frustrated. Assess the situation--talk to your squad leader--and once you have a better idea about how to proceed, then you can make a better decision about whether to spawn in more expensive kit, go militia fit for the rest of the match, maybe try a different role (sniping, tanking, etc.).
I know for me, one of the funnest things to do is to respawn in something incredibly cheap and get a few kills. Sure, I'm dying against the opposition, but my suits are hardly costing me anything, and they get pretty pissed when they're dropping over 100k on a suit and some militia cheapfit merc downs them.

I run my cheap, dampened Dren Scout Shotty with REs :) And if it's an ambush, drop uplinks then run laps in the redline. |

I take my Charge SR, get wide and high and pick them off one at a time. Even better if I get to help out other team members who are trying to kill them as well. An assist's as good as a kill IMO.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

A heavy with a RR/CR/ScR is an effective counter to proto stomping. So are REs. MLT blaster tanks also do the job. Sneaky shotgun souts also work quite well for the skilled. All are far cheaper than a proto suit.
All of the above kill me quite often when I'm in my proto suit (which is most of the time). |

Have squad go av and bait them with dropping cheap or bp lavs and blow the sh!t out of their tanks when they rush ya like a pack of dogs.

Scout ambush (you'll need at least two Enhanced Profile Dampeners to be successful though)
MurderTaxi, Tanking (assuimg they don't have proto tanks out which they probably do)
Militia Dropship + Kamakaze tactics = I still lost less ISK than you
Clever camping with remote explosives
Sniping, forge sniping/ambush
Double tap everything
But really, the best thing you can do is have a knowledgeable group of decent players work together in a squad with active and meaningful communication, mid to proto scans, pick off any stragglers while maintaining a sensible exit strategy (having a dropship or LAV standing by), and take what objectives you can.
Of course, for those REALLY GREAT public matches where you're fighting full squads of proto suits, and you wisely decided that today you didn't need your friends and everyone on your team is a random blueberry (not entirely unlike EVERY AMARR FACTIONAL BATTLE EVER), the only sensible course of action is non-violent protest. Hide in the MCC or the mountains, snipe if the sniping's good, spread out, do not engage and do not get dead. Let them win the match they've already decided that they want to buy, but don't sell to them the WP/SP that they really came there for. |
