I'm just curious what weapons people use for their light dropsuit and scout fittings. I'm kind of indecisive as to what weapon I want to use for my character. I'm loving the shotgun to be frank but its hard to get close to someone with such crap armor and shield, but when I'm able to pull it off, it's the most satisfying feeling ever. I'm also liking the Rail RIfle and the Assault Rifle honestly for farther distances. I'm a up close and personal, I wanna be sprinting fast kind of guy. Let me know what your favorite weapon is for your Scout or Light Dropsuit.

Shotguns are my forte, added with a touch of submachine guns and remote explosives.
Why? Because with Gallente scouts and maxed out profile dampening, I can sneak up on unsuspecting enemies and blast them in the back with my shotgun. If they live and start dodging, I pull out my submachine gun and start spraying to finish off the remaining armor they have. Then when a guy across the map is hacking a null cannon, I just click L1 and the problem has been dealt with, not to mention the countless times of suicide charging into heavily defended locations and blowing up everyone. :3

Personally I use the AR but I guess the CR, especially the assault variant, would also work fine.
I'm not a fan of the shotgun. Most rifles seem to have the same TTK while giving much better range. |

Knives on every fit.
As for a gun depending on the map... CQC SMG, Short to mid ACR, Mid to Long CR.

Combat rifle/rail rifle.

Charge SR is my favourite, but any SR will do in a pinch.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

CR is perhaps the best light weapon for scouts with its epic tap fire and overwhelming RoF.
I like the TT-3 and CAR-9. You get the CAR-9 burst RoF and the 84 direct damage and head increased ammo cap and conservation of the TT-3.

I use a sniper rifle and an SMG. No mid range. You either fire from afar or run right around the corner up close.
Otherwise, I use a tac AR to do mid range work depending on the map.
Or, I grab a beer and just snipe.
Otherwise, I fly dropship.

Nova knives as primary weapons. Even the smg (the only weapon I skilled into that can fire bullets) is treated by me as only a backup weapon.
Why? The challenge. Nothing is more challenging than bringing a pair of knives to a gun fight. This is what separates the pros from the noobs.

Are Shottys really a Gallente thing? Because I run it with my Minmatar Light Dropsuit (SR-1) and if I don't die fast I can do great damage, but whats the deal so Gallente get something special with shotguns?

Dude I salute you, I wish I could pull that pull but the moment someone sees me, I'm dead. (I'm also not fully and properly skilled at armor and shields yet or speed for that fact.

my favorites would generally be nova knives and shotguns. if the map isnt for shotgunning, then ill pull out my Boundless CR + IshNok combo, though sometimes the light weapon can vary between all of the rifles, but it's ALWAYS proto.
as of recently, ive also been running dual Ishukone SMGs, and that's proven to be quite effective as well.
NOTE: this is only what i run for minmatar scout. im actually a proto gallente scout, but due to a sale they recently had, bought 1500 neo scout mk.0s. because of this im not running my gk.0 too much anymore because im trying to burn through the AUR mk.0s before the respec

Yeah, my "favourite" is Assault Rail RIfle.
Awesome close up DPS, but when you want to go sniper style, and have the time to crouch to take out something at 80m away... you can do that too.
However, since I also like to run with Ish knives.. which have ludicrous fitting requirements considering they are knives.. I'm not usually able to fit the ARR (since I run some proto modules as well, like range and shields). so I usually fall back to basic CR. Good range, good burst damage, and cheap.
win/win/win
(edit: there's also the fact that the ARR costs as much as the entire rest of my fit. So I tend to use it sparingly .
It's also fun in a Heavy suit though!!  ) |

I like the shotgun due to its ability to land the OHK when I sneak up on hackers...but nothing--and I mean nothing--is better than a well-placed remote explosive. It's fun to let an enemy catch a glimpse of you before you duck away, then watch as they move ever closer to your explosive web of death.

As a scout i only run Nova Knives and scanner, cheap as hell and very satisfying. A true assassin mini hides in the shadows, hunting in the dark, to save those in the light. |
