Not concerned with your wanting to run proto constantly. You earned it, as did I, we should be able to use it when we want agreed.
However, what I don't agree with is you beating your chest that you are a tank smasher when you run a proto suit 24/7 (and we will assume the squads you run in most likely do the same). I have no problems taking out tanks when I roll with my proto buddies from ML and we spam forge guns or other AV, or other tanks.
The problem is that most new players don't have access to proto. There is a big difference between an ishukone assault forge gun and a militia.
The bottom line is your opinion is invalidated BECAUSE you protostomp 24/7 . As I said in my first post, any brain dead moron can be good at this game if they run proto constantly. My concern is new player retention if tanks vs. av aren't fixed (not tanks vs proto av).. unless you feel that infantry should HAVE TO run proto or advanced suits or weapons to stand a chance against a militia tank. Grenades and swarms are almost useless... forge guns are the only somewhat balanced AV weapon right now.

And for the record I'm very happy tanks finally got looked at, and a buff. However, I do not think CCP got it right and they went a little too far with the buff to tanks survivability through hardeners, improved speed, reduced price, allowing 6 tanks to be called in per side... all along with the nerf to AV (and keeping the recall feature in the game).
Needs tweaking (like Big Poppa's nipples) you protostomper you.. so silly |

Im not boasting, i nevet said it was easy. its hard work to take out a tank but thsts what i find enjoyable. think you guys seem to be compaining more about maybe the matchmaking system than tanks in general?

You're missing my point, but that's cool. Next time you make a boast thread (and if you re-read your original post, kinda hard to not see it as boasting but whatever) just don't forget to add that you and your squad were running all proto to tackle 6 militia fit scrub tankers. |

Personally hardeners should be restricted to one per tank/dropship. I mean, even ships in Star Trek didn't have a module to actively turn on to make the Enterprise invincible for 30 seconds. Hardeners can go, making AV viable again.

Without hardeners 3 av nades can take a maddy out.. Sorry but thats just not viable. Besides assault dropships, wirykomi swarms and ishukone assault forge guns make short work of tanks... Not to mention remotes, proximity explosives and sleek av nades..

Ya'll would never hear from me again regarding this topic if they reduced the number of HAV's and/or DS"s per side to 3 AND brought back pre 1.7 AV damage. Tanks can keep everything else (hardeners, speed, recall, low price, etc etc etc)
With only 16 players per side, 6 tanks per side is silly.. especially when militia AV barely stands a chance against militia tanks, even in numbers.
Remember when the flaylock was OP and everyone used it? take a look around, the tank spam is worse than ever that doesn't tell ya something? lol |

I don't have a problem with tankers. I have 2 AV fits. One is a Sever BPO with every proxy made, the other is a proto forgegun. I've solo'd some of the best tankers. It might take me a couple of tries to catch you, but I will. And I will do it just for dat BOOM and I will laugh at your burning heap and it feels so good.
I have to agree with the OP. I also think that being a tanker should require some skill. Militia tanks for everyone is kind of stupid. I remember when a tanker was a rare commodity and there were very few of them, let alone good ones. Now any idiot with a one match payout can buy one. On a balancing issue, you should technically have to skill into tanks to be able to call them in. Then you should have to skill in to turrets to use them as well. And propulsion systems to make them move lol...this list could grow alot.
Then again tank spam means I'm going wreck somebody's mfing day.
We can pickle that.

I agree with you that you originally just posted your experience with AV and your opinion. There is really nothing to argue about with that. Some people eat liver and think it is good, arguing with them doesn't change their mind and their opinion is as valid as mine. In subsequent posts though you seem to argue that tanks are balanced and the sole problem is AV incompetency, which is still an opinion, but of a different nature, one which directly challenges other people, the difference between "I like liver" and "those who don't like liver are stupid". Your experience is not the same as the majority of Dust players. You play with a full squad running proto gear, and a dropship and/or tanks probably from what I've seen of RE. (Whether doing that in pubs is cool or douchey is a different topic). Balance would mean you would be able to take out tanks running in organized squads with top tier equipment, and us lowly noob scrubs could take out MLT tanks, that is not the case. |

Good job douchebags. Yea I use proto gear, have since start of open beta. Iv played this game for more than a year and in that time iv amassed quite a fortune of isk. So I choose to use proto because I can afford to and why not? And yeah militia tanks are very easy. You can solo them. It's the more advanced tanks that need 2-3 forge gunners firing at once that are more of a challenge. Tanks are tough to beat but not impossible which is how it should be. You must be a complete noob if ur complaining that tanks are OP. The Butthurt really shines through your post. So requiring 2-3 people to destroy 1 person is balanced? Seems legit. Not saying that being tough to beat is a bad thing, it's actually a good thing. But when a single unit requires multiple unit's to destroy, there is a problem. Call his post butthurt if you want. Doesn't make what's saying any less true. But that where the fun is. Coordinating with 2 other guys to take out a tank in a matter of seconds, getting a rush of adrenalin as u help to deal the final blows. Working as a team is a bit more satisfying than being a lone wolf.
As long as there is just one or two tanks I could agree, but to fight 4 or 5 tanks at the same time would require most of your team leaving you vulnerable to infantry at the same time. All thi it requires 3 to beat havs is fine arguments seem to assume that the rest of the hav drivers team sits in the mcc afking..? |

The issue is that we have people paying and skilling into proto AV, and going against standard vehicles. Before, it was tipped towards the AV side, and vehicle pilots rightly complained about it, since they didn't have proto vehicles to skill in in order to tank proto AV. Now it's tipped too far in the other direction, with standard vehicles able to take the hits from proto AV, especially swarms, and keep on chugging.
CCP would never do it, but I would remove advanced and proto AV, then buff standard AV to proto levels and militia AV to advanced levels. Have standard variants of AV as well. Then once they add in advanced and proto vehicles, they can add advanced and proto AV back into the game at a suitable power level. |

seriously. make a fit. any fit. go stand next to a wirykomi swarm launcher. it will 3 shot you without hardeners on. go stand next to ishukone assault forge gun, it will 2 shot you.
put hardeners on: OMG MY TANK IS BREAKING. it will effectively kill you given you don't run as soon you start taking hits.
The reason people say tanks are OP is because they can effectively negate damage using 3 things:
1. Terrain, pew pew, swarms no work. 2. Speed. MWAHAH i run away, puny legs no follow. 3. Hardeners. KAMEHAMEHAAAAA super mode! i can tank double the damage i would normally!

Like we are going to get adv/proto vehicles, we havnt had them for months now, if anything maybe we get a defensive/attacking vehicles with a bonus attached to it if we are very ******* lucky

But il still think that maybe infantry were too used to easy killings of tanks before 1.7 and maybe don't know how to combat them now. but all im saying that it is possible and it is not as hard as it is made out to be.
