Alright so I have a question about the scanner.
Lets say I got my amarr scout and it has a cloak. Please note the cloak while in use grants a -25% profile signature.
Scenario 1.
- I am randomly walking
- I get scanned by a proto scanner
- I pull out my cloak and activate it. Putting my profile under the scanner that just scanned me.
Will I still be on the radar while cloaked?
If so:
If I uncloak, will I get back on the radar?

thats indeed a good question.... but i think scanners won't matter that much anymore, if you look at the high recharge time they'll have.... only coordinated squads will run them (idk like 1 guy with 3 at the same time) but for solo players (with the remove of the 360 degree spin scan) its not viable anymore.. well only in certan situations a scanner would be useful. |

The proximity variant will probably become much more popular due to the cool down matching the scan duration.

If you are above the threshold at the time of scan you will be scanned. That is how it is now. So I'm assuming that's how it will be after the update.
So putting on a cloak afterwards would just be a hazy character with a neon lit-up signature as we have it now.

Damn it... Someone go do some tests! I'll pay 5 mill to both of you! Just switch fits at a supply depot to a dampened fit since I think that's the closest thing to getting the cloak bonus instantaneously.

Ya, I don't think it should work like that at all. I think that if you get scanned and activate the cloak, you should fall of the radar.
If it does end up working like the way you described, it shouldn't and needs to be changed to work the other way ASAP.

I thought the Scanners are changed to only make snapshot scans? So when you're scanned you will only pop up on the enemy radar where you where at the point of scanning.

the scan time got greatly reduced making it so you can only scan straight. But recharge time got increased.

I believe they mean it happens instantly but still tracks you the same as it does now. Otherwise length of scan really has little meaning because people would move all the time.
But they did use the word "snapshot" and that is perplexing. It's a good question and deserves clarification. |

Hope this applies to the vehicle scanners too. Which never worked the same as the handheld ones to begin with. Ohhh look a giant pulsating circle around the tank and a "you have been scanned" as soon as I spawned. |

I had this same question. Did someone test the supply depot thing yet? Also, was there ever an answer to whether taking damage decloaks you? What about fluxes/fall damage? |

Not 'tested' exactly, but there have a been a few times I've swiched fits specifically because I'm being scanned and the 'you have been scanned' message has remained.
That could just be a UI bug - frankly, I don't get scanned often enough to extrapolate from subsequent enemy behaviour whether I'm glowing to them or not.

Regardless - the original question still remains and it's a good one. I still think stealth is getting an effective nerf, since the need to actually avoid scans is going to be merely a fraction of what it is now. Not a complaint of course - just an observation.

If I am scanned and the activate my cloak I should fall off the radar. If there are not plans to include the mechanic the CCP is doing it wrong. This topic needs to be addressed before it has the chance to be implemented incorrectly.

From what I understand from IRC talk - Cloaks won't prevent scans from detecting you. They'll find your psychical body still and locate it. You'll need to run dampeners with it. |

Well then I am inclined to think that you have either been mislead of did not properly understand what was being discussed. As it stands now the cloak decreases your profile by 25% (at all tiers) while active.

But cloaks themselves provide a dampening bonus...that is the basis of the question big asked.

If they scan you before you change suit at a depot, for example, from a heavy to a dampened scout, the message "you have been scanned" persists, but idk if you are actually visible or not.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...
