As the title states above, it's time the shotgun got hotfixed for the following reasons:
It's outclassed by weapons like the rail rifle and combat rifle
Damage fall off range is too extreme
Bugs like the sprint glitch and hit detection issues are still present on this weapon
The step up between STD, ADV, and PRO shotgun are barely noticeable in terms of firepower
Reducing spread per operation level doesn't make sense for the kind of weapon it is
-- In my opinion this weapon simply doesn't do enough damage, and facing tanked enemies with 800+ HP is an absolute nightmare. I'm okay with the range it has, but taking the time to get that close to the enemy, shooting them. and them turning around and mow you down before getting the last shot off on them gets old real fast.
I know there are other issues with this weapon, but this is all I can think of for now. Overall I'm glad that heavies finally had their HMG buff from the hotfix they got, but it's time to return the favor to shotgunners who received the cold shoulder for quite some time now. (coming from a scout shotgunner with Shotgun Op. V & Prof. III)

Agreed, the shotgun cannot compete with the rifles. Chances of killing an enemy are about 50-50 in close range because of tanked suits and extremely low rof. The shotgun is one of the most precise weapons in the game....which makes no sense. Why do I need perfect aim with the shotgun but rifle users can close their eyes and be just as effective?
Not to mention that the shotgun has no chance outside 10m. Which would be fine if it was more effective in its optimal. |

Agreed, maybe swap operation with proficiency and make proficiency affect damage like every other gun. It would also be nice if my shotgun pellets didn't disappear after a certain range (shotguns need more 'oomph' to deal with all the health buffs; also from a shotgun scout w/ prof. 3). |

ALL this, AND you forgot a RoF increase to Breach Shotgun. I understand is more powerful than other variants, but they already get a gimped ''clip'' (2 shots) so no need for the Low a** RoF.

Very true, the breach is already a skill intensive weapon but with too many drawbacks like low RoF, 2 shots per clip, and slow reload, hence the reason why it's rare to see anyone using them in the battlefield.

Its my Favorite Shotgun TBQH. I loved shooting down 1 dude,then another, then changing to my SMG and anothr. XD But everything changed when the fire nation attacked... I mean when the hit detection problems raised and Med frames started reaching 900+ EHP....
(Having to shoot TWICE a med frame at 1 mt with a ADV BREACH SG + 2 Cx Damage mods to kill him is as UP as it gets...)
Actually, this conversation got me a little pumped. Today (yes my Dust 514 just got back,so i can play again) im running my Breach SG again... Be wary of those dark corners ppl....

The Breach shotgun never did make sense. It's got extremely extremely limited ammo capacity, more so than any other breach weapon. Then on top of that it has abysmal rof and reload speed.
I think the limited ammo capacity was enough. It would be a nice weapon with a better rof. |

I agree the Better RoF is needed. But its not that it DOESNT make sense. The Breach SG is supposed to be the type of weapon i like to use. Skill weapon with ridiculously high alpha damage but drawbacks (there by my love for the SCR RIFLE) The thing is, the VERY low RoF COMBINED with the High EHP values of Dust514 result in a VERY innefective weapon. Needing 100% of your bullets in the ''clip'' to kill a Med frame is something NO OTHER weapon does,except maybe. the AV oriented Plasma cannon.

Actually, the USAS - 12 with Frag Rounds had more range than pretty much anything. XD
I do agree thou am ''ASSAULT SHOTGUN'' could be an option! With HIGHER RoF (Around 500) but lower damage (Around 30). Low Clip count (Around 6) Still i wouldnt do it FULL auto....
If you want a Full auto CQ weapon,we have SMG's and SCR Pistols for that,and they are actually pretty powerful...

I think most SGers agree that range is not the problem. It's the hit detection(why is it still bugged) RoF and poor dmg.
3-5 is fine, just let me kill stuff when I have to be that close.

A buff to damage is needed in adv and proto tiers. a proto shotgun should 1HK everything south of armor tankers with 900 hp. and adv shotgun should kill anything under 700 hp, armor tanked, with one shot. This is without headshots. This makes up for the amount of skill and luck it takes to flank an enemy enough to get into shotgun range before getting mowed down by rifles from 70+ meters away

A buff is greatly needed.
I've resorted to using a complex damage mod with my breach shotgun, and it still feels impotent. Often, I get one well placed shot off, making the average enemy to go to 50% or 25% total hp, and then they spazz out, spamming their CBR or RR in CQC and kill me...
A standard breach shotgun, at nearly point blank range, with a complex damage mod seems like it ought to be able to 1 shot all but the most tanked out advanced/proto medium suit, and any heavy. |
