There are some dropships, that my rail tank sinks with just two hits.
There are some dropships, where I can fire my whole clip at them, and they're still up there.
Fouxhound, you sound like you're just bitter because your python with 2xdamage mods(?) isnt surviving very long when there are tanks around |

Yeah its bull **** 1 or 2 shots and thats350 k gone why are the modules so crap for the ads when the others have more slots iv given up there overpriced and still crap wish i could have my sp bk ccp really struggle to get it right tanks have ****** this game so bad to the point im gonna join the talentless bastards that camp the redline because of things like this dust will fail the controls are pants which dosnt help and have u tried to take out a tank with 300 hp armour rep iv lost more isk than ever in1.7 ccp think il get aurum not a chance in hell im spending money on a broken game bpos sounded good but they were taken befor i could get any shame fo ccp i hope theyl work 4 free lol

I completely agree. Something should be done. I'm a firm believer that large rails should first have a falloff and second the red line should be like the shield when you come out of the mcc that does not let any damge in or out. FFurthermore, to prevent abuse as in shooting and going back in thevredline to avoid damage, there should be a 3 minute timer so that any vehicle that comes out of the redline cannot go back in for at leasdt 3 minutes.

Actually, Standard Dropships have more slots than any other vehicle, but you're right, ADS has 1 slot less than an HAV. You trade those slots for speed and menuverability. If you got shot down by a railgun, either you were not taking advantage of that speed, or you have a really good rail tanker that can hit a moving target from 600m away.

Yeah....we do rule the skies and that is simply not okay. For the most part I feel rails do their job well, they are the best anti tank weapon around, however as you say some considerations must be made for other roles to have a significant and meaningful presence in the map.
However I am also of the opinion that if gun that is designed to destroy a tank hits what is essentially a helicopter.....that drop ship will be downed, however as it stands there is little reason to use anything other than railguns in this current meta which promotes redline sniping as the most effective and least risky way to clear the field of enemy vehicles.

I have had this exact same experience. I notice some of the Gallente ADS setups can withstand around 4 or more railgun hits and still escape. (I assume hardeners on etc...) |

500K Python with Complex Shield Hardener, Enhanced Heavy Shield Extender and Enhanced Afterburner and I can take maybe two hits and be able to run away. There are some seriously hard hitting gunners out there though and the second hit can knock me out of the sky. If I can gain altitude out of sight of the rails I can sometimes harass them back into cover but that's a big "if".
Considering that railgun tanks are my biggest threat with forge gunners in second place I'd don't know how I'd fix the situation. The crazy range is hard to deal with but currently they are the main system keeping dropships from overly dominating. We could use a dropship based system that has a better chance of killing tanks.

oh good point: armor is more rail resistant. So, to pilots: your Python getting railed a lot? Dont like it? Then switch to Incubus.

I've lost dropships to rail tanks, yes. But what pilot hasn't? But most of the time I CAN avoid the railgun fire and projectiles via evasive flying, .. It's just that's all I can do before I recall it. I can't enjoy flying people about or engaging the enemy infantry because 90% of my time is dancing with rail projectiles or hunting down that railgun tank that tried to kill me.

Run on sentence. On another note, I have to agree. on some games I do just camp and snipe behind the redline because it can be so overwhelmingly pointless to go out there and try to work. |

I dont mind tanks being able to shoot down dropships. Hell they should be able to fight back against maruading air units. Hitting a dropship from the redline across the length of the map under my mcc, of when i'm at the maximum flight ceiling however...Is le merde

No dropship has ever survived 3 hits from my rail tank.
Also a whole 6 shots from a rail tank is how much damage? Cause i pretty sure its thousands and thousands more HP than any vehicle can achieve. |

my biggest issue with rail tanks, aside from the high reward, negligible risk setup that they currently are, is the fact that due to some maps design not only do they make it impossible to do anything, they make it very dangerous simply to land somewhere and recall your ship. i've had situations where i've had to dive stupidly close to the ground and pull up at the last second, hoping the impact damage won't kill.

Fox I love you and all but how do you honestly expect to be effective airpower when there's heavy Anti-Air guns on the field. If you want to run around in the air you need support to clear those guns or keep them busy.
Everyone wants to be able to do everything, solo, all the time. Get a crew, stomp around together. 3 missiles on your ship and good gunners will kill any tank really fast. |

Kharga, you have no idea. I run in squads all the time, especially with slayers from the Rainbow Effect. The french, like laflash for tank support, AV guys like Jin and Taz-666.. I get organised, even with Ars Kayx flying by my side or in my door gun, our skills stack = rapid firing advanced and proto missiles can down tanks in seconds. But being shot out of the sky from some dude in the redline? Keeps the sky clear so I have to recall. It's just ridiculous. The guys solo'ing all the time right now are the bloody railgunners. Tanks need to be fixed, because all it takes is one tank on a hill to ruin a game.. how do you think I feel when there's a squad of six?

What happens when there is no redline? Permanent spawn camping. Are you willing to spawn in continuously with proto suits just to die instantly? If not, you're a hypocrite. If you claim "yes because my team would never be redlined" that is also hypocritical speech, because you are trying to employ action on a region of the game you believe you will never have interaction with, therefore you would have no say in such.
Tanks deployed by those without any skills into them are incredibly easy to destroy. Just admit you are too damn lazy to actually try.
I can also see you've never driven a tank before, because if you try to recall a tank while it's under enough fire to threaten it, it will be blown up.
