Alan-Ibn-Xuan Al-Alasabe wrote:Every time something gets changed people ask for a respec and the answer is always "no". My favorite example was the assault logi from a few months ago, where the Caldari logi suit had the ability to get insane eHP and became the standard combat suit for everyone, regardless of their intentions to fill the support role.
When CCP nerfed the logi suit back into its support role people demanded a respec and the rest of us laughed at them for wasting SP on an obviously broken mechanic.
What I'm getting at is, put your SP into what you want to do, not what is currently at the top of the metagame. If mass drivers, a weapon not seeing much use right now, are what you find interesting go ahead and invest SP there. They'll be rebalanced back into relevance eventually, and you can still have fun with them until then.
Plus even if you do throw SP into the current flavor of the month it's not like that SP is wasted. There's no cap on how much SP your character can have, so you can always get the suits and weapons you want later. Plus now you have whatever item you had before to use until then. I put my sp in the amarr logi because of its self healing effects. I was able to heal my team and stay alive. Now its special ability is for spawn beacons? That's not what I skilled into that suit for. Now how the hell is that flavor of the month? Well im going Minnie logi since that's the only suit that is flat out dedicated to healing and support. |

There should be 1 more respect guaranteed, and that is when they release the rest of the racial suits, vehicles, and weapons. If CCP doesn't give a respect at that point then they can kiss a good portion of their remaining player-base goodbye. Other than that I say no respecs

Dropsuit command, dropsuit upgrades, and weapons will need to be refunded in full if there is to be any infantry refund.
Suit choice impacts what you choose to upgrade, and what modules you use. What weapons you choose are impacted by what suit you use, AND vice versa. Suits are being reworked, roles are being revamped or completely removed. These are changes that will fundamentally alter the infantry gameplay experience.
Unless CCP wishes to further sow the seeds of discontent, they will offer a complete infantry refund, if not a full respec, come 1.8 or whenever racial parity finally arrives. |

If they changed the tree for vehicles and gave them a respec I say yes for infantry. You are going to be changing the game play for everyone, why would you do such a major change and not give one. I say refund the SP in suits and weapons and not core skills is the best bet.

They made vehicles much cheaper, harder to kill and more effective, without changing their roles ( except removing logis ). And they still handed out a respec to vehicles users.
If they are completely changing the roles of suits, adding more suits and adding more weapons, why would that not justify a respec when compared to the vehicle change respec?
I am not for respecs but since they made all vehicles stronger and gave them a respec, they better give one to ground pounders since all the suits and roles will be changing.
Then I never want to hear the word respec again. |

Try to remember the last time we had a triple sp event, it was announced weeks in advanced, much like this one. The day before it started they announced the commando. That way when they were approached for a respec, they could be like "well no, but you do have all that sp from the event", So I think this is what will happen.

What you call "SP refund" we call "partial respec". If CCP overhauls the suits like they did with the tanks, you will definitely see a partial respec.

Seeing how the vehicle respect thing was due to CCP actually deleting many skills, tiers, and almost all specialized roles and indeed all but a militia version and what amounts to a base variant, and this apparent change to infantry won't be deleting any roles but actually adding many things without altering any of the drop suit skill tree.
No there is no need to concern ourselves with reallocating our SP. In all likely hood the Dropsuit Command tree will just have some new welcome branches added on. Isn't it great that we play a game where we have no SP cap and can essentially continue earning new things?

Sorry to break it to all you guys who don't actually pay close enough attention to the going ons of this game, so you have petty debates on the forums, but at fanfest, and may other occasions, CCP stated that there will most likely be one additional respec with the addition of the rest of the racial variant suits. And thats a strong most likely So get over it |

Of course, part of me is still hoping they'll rescind the claim that DUST has been released already, since it's still not release-ready yet.
1.7 angered a lot of folks. If the peak player numbers drop below 3000 or worse then CCP is going to be forced to offer an olive branch to the players still left
Why? New consoles and new console games are slowly but steadily draining the Dust 514 playerbase.

Now is the time to be playing more and saving not asking for refunds and respecs. There isn't even any offical news so you have a few good weeks to make that SP. No refunds needed, no credit check, get the items you want right then! If anything now is the time to start pulling the trigger more.

The problem here is that Amarr scouts and Caldari scouts were not readily available when we started training for scouts. So many of who have trained up for either Gallente or Minmatar scout might not even like Minmatar or Gallente but were forced to. This is just like the Heavy suits who never had an option for Gallente, Minmatar or Caldari heavies.

I agree that this makes sense. However, at the same time, you can't just issue a DS respec without a Core respec.
I can see a partial for the suits (although I'd just put it back in Caldari Assault anyhow), but without adding the Core upgrades, it doesn't make sense. I can't see weapons being added to the respec.
I am intrigued either way. If we get one, awesome, I can fix some mistakes I made early on. If not, awesome, because it will force people to adapt to the choices they've made and be more creative with their fittings.
