But in any case, this is a good move for the Minmatar, I hope they'll stay on that path.

Indeed though it has struck a blow to those who would consider the Minmatar pawns of the Gallente. These are the proud people the Amarr saw such potential in, the same people who would have been my brothers and sisters.
Alas such is not so.
Even so I have to admire the Republics stance on the matter, this definitely to me is a statement of independence in but in a manner that does not preclude continued cultural and theological exchange with the Minmatar as of yet.

Well their is hope here actually perhaps with this new political order the old hate between Amarr & Minmitar will be ended. Maybe the 2 can unite 1 day.
If not.... It's looking bad for The Minmitar. Basiclly The Mercenary's is holding the former republic together it would seem.

the gallenta though will need a lot of work they take their freedom for granted and wast the gifts that have been given to them :(

So... The tribal heads are the council in charge The Sanmatar is a ceremonial leader with power that can declare emergencies Each tribe gets 5 representatives in the parliament The prime minister is appointed by the parliament
I have no problems with this new system, democracy is basically a glorified popularity contest. What matters to me is protection of individual rights under the constitution, and effective government (for which I prefer a meritocracy, just not one measured by profit like the Caldari's), and division of power (no one person has all the power, which is good). I have many questions in regard to my priorities:
How does a tribal chief get the position? is it merit-based in some way? By what mechanisms to the tribes select their parliament members? is it merit-based in some way? What are the powers of the prime minister? What individual rights are guaranteed in the new government?

That is unwise if they are not ready. Our sacred duty is not to use the children of God as bargaining chips, they are ours to educate. So that they to might bring the light to darkened stars.
I also share the same sentiment as Steadyhand. My duty is to my Empress and Her House. I have sworn to uphold the laws of the Empire, and fight for its immortal destiny in place of others. Where she whims I shall go.
But Steadyhand you know better than that, we have discussed to no end our thoughts in regards to the Matari, they have never been beasts, merely ignorant of the true way to live. As you point out, and as I like to say.

Also, Gallente political system =/= Gallente way of life, there is more to them then their political system.

i believe the minmatar are going in the right direction with this, but kagehoshi said, id also like to know how things are done now. i also think that stepping away from the gallente-like democracy very good as well meaning that we are becoming more independent with ourselves and how we do things.
i still don't like the fact that the amarr are enslaving us still but at least i know that you free them after a certain amount of "teaching", your'e basically telling them all about amarr life and religion which you shouldn't be making/convincing others to join your faith, as it is our own decision to choose who/what we believe in for many reasons.
and like Tobias Efrit said, "This day has brought the tribes back to power and I rejoice" and i will do the same.

No you do not. However do you think can we consider this more stand offish nature a sign that the tensions between the Gallente Federation and our Empire might soften given time?
It has been suggested to me that the Minmatar compose a rather strong voting bloc within the Federation which for some time has been exerting pressure to keep such tensions strong.

Yeah, but slavery seems to be the main way you push the totality of your way of life on others. I would not mind you people spreading your way of life if it was not through such horrific means, and yes I know you guys have some religious justification about how its supposedly for the religious good of those enslaves, but spare me that argument; only works on those who already accepted your fate anyway.
Anyone know the answers to my previous questions regarding the tribal government?

im fairly certain not many people know how the know system works but (IRL) (correct me if im wrong) it could compare to the UK parliment in some way but im just geussing.
my guess is each tribe votes for 5 of their best people to represent them as a whole and they all decide on important things whenever they meet

Everyone seem to believe the Gallente are up in arms about this turn of events.
Protip: we're not.
The Minmatar are, and will always be, our allies. We recognize the right of every individual to choose how they wish to live, even if they decide democracy is not that choice.
There are Minmatar right now in the Federation, living their lives in peace and happiness under our umbrella. And any who find the new system not to their liking are welcome to join their friends here, with us. Just as any Amarr or Caldari are also welcome to come to us for supplication.
However rocky things are between the Federation and the Republic right now, we're glad they've finally decided to make their own stand in the world. Sometimes it is best to realize that your way of life is not effective outside of your own borders, and to let others go their own way.
So long as the new Republic continues to serve the interests of the Minmatar people, and their Gallente friends and allies, we will continue to have a peaceful, prosperous relationship.
Also, Amarr keep slaves. And that's just absurd. |

We have the Khanid, Ni Kunni, Ealur, and the Ammatar living peacefully within the Empire. That is four races who have accepted our way of life. Granted there was major conflict with the Minmatar and lesser conflict with the Khanid. However the Ni Kunni and Ealur have never revolted or resisted the Amarr rule.
Also the Gallente are notorious for "pushing their ways" on others. They are hostile and intolerant to closed societies, ignorant or unaccepting of the deep cultural difference that have developed the modern political systems. The Caldari are the prime example. A people who developed a tradition, culture, and religion based on hard work, perseverance, and testing oneself. Yet when they decided that the Federation did not allow them to hold to these ideals and their own state had to be formed, the Gallenteans tore them from their home world at gunpoint.
Now the Minmatar are developing into a more closed society based on tribal law and progression, not free elections. The future will be interesting. |

Most races the Amarr have made contact with have accepted our way of life, because we don't see to change their culture entirely - only show them the Light! And even many of the freed Minmatar who live among the Minmatar Republic still practice the faith.

Keep in mind that, just because we believe in progress and understanding, we do not usually resort to force in order to solve our disputes. Hundreds of years of stable democracy can attest to that.
The Caldari-Gallente War was started with violent acts from the Caldari, which certain elements within our government responded to. Yes, I believe the response was the incorrect one, but we did not immediately resort to violence, and many within the Federation wished to sue for peace immediately. The current war is another example of elements within the State using violence to achieve an end. I don't subscribe to the belief that Tibus Heth is representative of your people (he was ran out of office for crying out loud) just as I hope you don't believe that people like Alexander Noir represent mine. |

I am not Caldari, I was simply citing their strife as an example... I am True Amarr of the blood of Old Athra, and a Holder of the Lower Houses.
Also your "hundreds of years of stable democracy" pales in comparison to the over 15,000 years of imperial succession.

Apologies, I meant no offense.
And this isn't a time to compare how long our respective governments have held sway over our people. There have been rough patches for both, after all. Your Chamberlain was in league with the Blood Raiders and tried to usurp the Empress, while our president Foiritan was impeached after his failure to stand up to the terror that was Tibus Heath.
Neither were the proudest moments of our histories, but they should also not be used by others to define who we are.

Yet when they decided that the Federation did not allow them to hold to these ideals and their own state had to be formed, the Gallenteans tore them from their home world at gunpoint. Now the Minmatar are developing into a more closed society based on tribal law and progression, not free elections. The future will be interesting. The Ni Kunni were forced to be part of the Empire as slaves, and made to assimilate against their will. Same with the Ealur. The fact that they have been so assimilated and culturally dominated that they don't fight back does not change the essential truth that the Amarr Empire are bullies. If these races were granted the opportunity to revolt successfully like the Minmatar did (Jove war) while they were still slaves, I'm sure they would have taken it.
The Khanid are just Amarr that tried to secede from the Empire, not a different culture that has come to accept your way of life. They are your Caldari, just not as successful.
I don't necessarily agree or disagree with the Gallente's past (or present) claims of sovereignty over the Caldari, but they have never tried to erase the Caldari's culture through slavery and assimilation. Pushing democracy is a much lesser offense than vitoc-filled slavery and cultural eradication.

Caldari State using force to achieve an end? More like the Caldari wanted to separate themselves from the Federation because the Federation did not respect their culture and were selflessly taking advantage of the Caldari's financial success. The Caldari State tried to leave peacefully, but the Gallente Federation needed them so bad, not just because of the economics but because seeing such a large group leave the Federation would make them look weak and unnecessary. So when the Gallente weren't able to reach an agreement through diplomacy, they resorted to violence.
