Pushing democracy is a much lesser offense than vitoc-filled slavery and cultural eradication. Kill me with a rail charge, and I die. Kill me with a laser, and I die likewise.
Cultural warfare, in the form of trying to indoctrinate us as good individualists with superficially-harmless commercial holoflicks and the like, was a long-standing Gallentean foreign policy strategy.
Apparently, they failed to take into account that the only people they would thus indoctrinate were the elites, those who could afford Gallentean luxuries. Many of these were indeed influenced, and became selfish-- parasites living off the misery of those they were charged with leading. The correction, when it came, nearly plunged the State into civil war.
I mostly think of this as a miscalculation because instead of giving the Gallente a pro-democratic revolt, it gave them a traditionalist one. The Gallente themselves inadvertently raise State Executor Tibus Heth to power.
The Gallente have only rarely used coercive methods, but the attack is no less real, just less overtly brutal. |

Almost every race they contact rejects their way of life. The Caldari being the most notably, but also the Intaki separatists, and now their fledgling little Republic friends have turned away. It seems only the Jin-Mei have truly stayed in whole... Though they still maintain their caste system much to the Federation's disappointment.
Actually, you really don't hear much about the Jin-Mei at all. Same can be said for the Amarr, the difference is that the Gallente don't go around enslaving people to push their ways on others. Also, Gallente political system =/= Gallente way of life, there is more to them then their political system. As is there more to the Amarr than slavery. Yeah, but slavery seems to be the main way you push the totality of your way of life on others. I would not mind you people spreading your way of life if it was not through such horrific means, and yes I know you guys have some religious justification about how its supposedly for the religious good of those enslaves, but spare me that argument; only works on those who already accepted your fate anyway. Anyone know the answers to my previous questions regarding the tribal government? im fairly certain not many people know how the know system works but (IRL) (correct me if im wrong) it could compare to the UK parliment in some way but im just geussing. my guess is each tribe votes for 5 of their best people to represent them as a whole and they all decide on important things whenever they meet
Got an clue abut the rest?
How does a tribal chief get the position? is it merit-based in some way? What are the powers of the prime minister? What individual rights are guaranteed in the new government?

As far as I know the Minmatar let their individual tribal elders choose the chief of a given tribe. |

We have the Khanid, Ni Kunni, Ealur, and the Ammatar living peacefully within the Empire. That is four races who have accepted our way of life. Granted there was major conflict with the Minmatar and lesser conflict with the Khanid. However the Ni Kunni and Ealur have never revolted or resisted the Amarr rule.
The Empire actually has "significant populations of nearly every bloodline known to New Eden" including ethnic Gallente. It is the second most diverse entity in the cluster. Current demographic information on the Empire can be found here. |

If anything will star a war between the federation and former republic, it will be our brothers and sisters in space who are destroying any and all matari and gallete ships that enter the other's territory.
The matari's current move to create an individualized society from the rest of the empires through their own tribal culture shows that they are indeed ready to become a force of recognition able to stand on their own.
The Federation's response in irrelevant, the Matari are choosing their own way of life and last time I checked, Matari space is on the other side of High Sec across from Federation space. Plus launching a war over this would be an extremely stupid move on the Federation's part merely because of current political and military conflicts with the State.
if the federation made such a move the caldari would see this as a chance to strike back for caldari prime and would cause another Cal/Gal war that could possibly cripple both empires leaving the infant state of the Matari and every other organized space fairing society in New Eden open for Amarrian invasion and enslavement.
It would be wise for the Federation to open trade agreemets and regulation with this infant of a society in order to guarantee stability in new eden.
Remember people, as long as the Amarr Empire remains untouched and stable within, it remains a constant threat to New Eden. The other Empires are keeping it in check.

Sounds like this shakes things up at the top, but which of you brothers ever voted without consulting with your clan first? This doesn't seem to change much of anything in the way things are done at the bottom, and I'm fine with that.
Republics represent and derive their power from the people. In an individualistic and inherently selfish society, you need democracy to do that. Not so for a tribal one. We're still a republic, as far as I'm concerned.
