Still waiting on an explanation of tiericide. It was used to make all the hulls in one size of ship and tech level flyable at level one.
All t1 frigates of one race can be flow by anyone with one level in that frigate skill. It doesn't cover t2 ships ships and faction ships usually need and extra level to fly. By the example set by CCP when they invented tiericide then I should be able to use any level of suit in a frame size and type at level one skills. Please explain how I am misunderstanding this.

I'm a casual gamer that want's a FPS game that's "Hard" that I cant beat in a month or even 3.... Every patch this game get's easier... for no reason...
Jumping on for a quick public match has NEVER been an issue in DUST.
The dumbing the game down to a noobs level instead of designing a learning curve, tutorials, intuitive UI explanations... Aiming practice... Good articulated explanations of skills and the math that goes with it. Sandbox based matchmaking system where the player can choose their level of difficulty. Building a teir'ed process so you inspire new players to leave their militia suits and NPC corporations and look for green pastures.
Meh maybe DUST is all about the guy that wants to play 30 minutes a day and your right. |

I am the definition of casual player, after my 12 hour work day and the hour or two that I spend with my wife and children I have little time to play games. I have less than 3k kills and less than 4k deaths, I have less than 14M SP because I spend my money on my children and wife. I am lucky if I play 5 hours a week and yet I don't have 1/10 the problem with proto gear, HAVs or many of the other things people cry about.
If it is that difficult to have fun in this game then I either am way better than I think and is indicated by by 0.73 KDR or you all just whiners that see dieing in a game to be so bad that you have to speak out and QQ about players whom are better or have more time invested.

Its not that the casual player is left out in the cold its that there actually is a surprisingly large market and desire from gamers for more hardcore game. Games that don't hold your hand, that make you work for your rewards, and that aren't easy to get into or enter into.
The Souls games have a cult following for this reason. Sure a casual could play it but I would maul them mercilessly every time in PvP because I took the time to learn the mechanics, best routes, best fighting spots, etc.
I want a hardcore game, that's why I play Dust, something that is hard, rewarding, and all together hard, grim, gritty, realistic, and tactical.

You want innovation? Remember this game was not supposed to be about FPS stuff in the first place. The FPS part was supposed to be a means to an end. The real game was supposed to be an EVE link for gaining resources for EVE.
They stupidly did not start from there and work backwards. Now we have these console thumb jockeys complaining about shooter games. Yes, it should be bland and fair. Yes, it should be like those other games. Because the part that is supposed to be different is the EVE resource link.
This game should have been on the PC and a clear companion piece to EVE all along. I can't believe it's been mired in this FPS game swamp.

Try arguing with this one ; ) To ppl who think that this is just 'a generation that happened to be' - you are wrong. This generation has been carefully created by mass marketing pushed by big publishers that want to fuel consummerism and endless hopping from one FOTM game to the next. I guess CCP does not see it that way to their detriment. Who's whining? Lol You have a wife and kids and still act this way about a video game?
I come to this game to be able to do things that are not possible in real life, to have fun and to "escape" real life for a while. I play game for the challenge of being able to beat a set of obstacles that another person has designed with the intention of being difficult to finish. I am acting this way about something that I like and want to grow into something great. If more people had some passion about this game then this stupid tread wouldn't be necessary but I feel compelled to speak about how I feel about I enjoy when I see things that have the ability to break it or make it worse. I am not whining, I am voicing my opinion and telling you and all the ilk whom want this game to fail or become watered down that you aren't gamers and I don't value any idea that makes the game easier. If this game is so difficult, and I hate to say it, go play checkers or little league baseball where runs don't count.

I guess CCP does not see it that way to their detriment. Thanks, I am glad I am not the only one who enjoys a challenge. I hate being some QQ ranter but all this push towards equality is disheartening, I want us to have a fun game that isn't afraid to be different or innovative, I see little innovation but I see lots of conformity to the norm.
Try again
This week we got tha chance to sit down and talk with David Reid, CCPGÇÖs new Head of Marketing. Also, joining us on the call was the big man himself, CEO Hilmar Petrusson. David and Hilmar gave us a great look at what CCP has planned for 2012. The main title being DUST 514 as a AAA shooter which will integrate into the EVE Online universe, while being a completely separate experience.
When talking about DUST 514 both Dave and Hilmar want people to know that CCP is putting together a Triple-A FPS for the console space. The game will have top quality weapons, vehicles, and tactical gameplay which rivals the best loved shooters out there. DUST will integrate with EVE and be part of the same persistant universe which is a unique step for MMOs. Having gameplay in DUSTGÇÖs planets impact the game universe of EVE is a major step forward in gaming. They want the feel of grunts with their futuristic guns battling it out in the universe which will work hand in hand with the space pilots flying above. Dave was very excited about the look and feel of the game. The dark future art style that has made EVE so spectacular will really shine through in the ground wars of DUST.

Tell me how diversity equals having one type of suit that does one job with little fitting options with all the weapons of the same class being very similar. Tiericide would allow proto at level one and that is diversity?

Then what is tiericide? These people don't like proto suit wearing vets so they want to be able to wear proto at level one. All rifles that are junk unless they are prototype according to most. Suits have too much this or that because we can't kill them fast enought with the best gun. The HAVs are too powerful for one person to solo every time with standard AV. Noobs have no chance. These are all calls to make the game easier by care-bears who are butthurt about losing to something better or to someone better.

1) The game isn't going to fail. 2) If it did, it could immediately be repackaged and sold as World of Tanks 514. If you think imbalance is OK (i.e. tanks), then you are the problem. Not the people who ask CCP to fix their f*ck-ups for a better future.
I am not talking about balance, I am talking about how many on the forums and in game don't want us to be able to have better items than they can get on day one. People who don't have the grit to stick with it or work for good balancing come on here and cry. If you think the HAVs are difficult now then wait till they are all in game all the way to prototype. It is going to take eight fully speced AV mercs to destroy one or another prototype HAV. What will be said then?

Doesn't hurt me, I hate making typographical errors. I try to edit them to make them easier to read. A good QQ rant isn't easy to stomach if it is full of spelling mistakes and really bad grammar. I wish the tab key worked so I could indent my paragraphs.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Aero basically got the premise right there are ways to go about it though.
A purist tericide would remove ALL meta levels. While this would be neat and players would grow outwards the game would be too flat for most people's liking.
So generally there is a knock off version, one of lesser degree.
For example the one I am currently advocating would remove basic and advanced frames and suits leaving players with prototype slot layouts as the only suit in each class entry. Then introducing two more suit entries at base classes that creating a 'tech 1' experience in which the suits are slightly skewed towards the roles but are able to fulfill many of them. Then the current tech 2 suits get an additional suit and they're heavily skewed into very specific roles..
