My planned fits for new Commando stats and slot layouts
Commando A-1 Laser Rifle Scrambler Rifle Militia Light Damage Mod Militia Armor Repairer Active Scanner
240 shield 562 armor 2.5 armor repair rate
Cost: 7,640 ISK
Commando A/1 ELM-7 Laser Rifle CRD-9 Assault Scrambler Rifle Enhanced Light Damage Mod Enhanced Armor Plate Enhanced Armor Repairer A-19 Stable Active Scanner
240 shield 683 armor 3.75 armor repair rate
Cost: 55,110 ISK
Commando Ak.0 ELM-7 Laser Rifle CRD-9 Assault Scrambler Rifle Complex Light Damage Mod Complex Armor Plate Complex Armor Repairer Complex Armor Repairer A-19 Stable Active Scanner
240 shield 711 armor 12.5 armor repair rate
Cost: 111,120 ISK
*HP values vary depending on your skills. All fits require some degree of SP into fitting skills.
I'm like it so far, definitely excited for 711 armor and 12.5 armor repair rate! The prices are still sort of steep past standard because of the cost of light weapons, though it's not noticeable in my protofit because I'm only using advanced weapons. It's quite noticeable on the advanced fit. I'm not too concerned though, these fits sound every bit worth the ISK.

I wouldn't put a duvolle on a Ck.0 because the bonus is for rail weaponry, so right now that is just rail rifles and sniper rifles. Here are some other proto fits I worked out, assuming level 5 everything
Commando Mk.0 RS-90 Combat Rifle EXO-5 Mass Driver A-19 Stable Active Scanner Complex Light Damage Mod Complex Light Shield Extender Complex Armor Plate Complex Armor Repairer
523 armor 398 shield 6.25 armor repair rate
Cost: 98,760 ISK
Commando Gk.0 Duvolle Assault Rifle Duvolle Specialist Shotgun A-45 Quantum Active Scanner Complex Light Damage Mod Complex Armor Repairer Complex Armor Plate Complex Armor Plate
797 armor 354 shield 7.25 armor repair rate
Cost: 175,515 ISK
Commando Ck.0 SB-39 Rail Rifle SL-4 Assault Rail Rifle A-45 Quantum Active Scanner Complex Shield Extender Complex Shield Extender Complex Shield Recharger Complex Armor Repairer
312 armor 645 shield 6.25 armor repair rate 29.66 shield recharge rate
Cost: 110,460 ISK

Ehhh......I like my duvolle for those CQC situations I tend to end up in....although I will definitely have an Ishukone sniper/ kaalakiota RR combo...... (Or perhaps a complete kaalakiota Caldari commando )

It is there regardless, whether or not you use the weapons to take advantage of it is your call.

Just remember to work out your fittings ahead of time before maxing fitting skills like Electronics, Engineering, Light Weapon Operations, and Fitting Optimizations. It is very improbably that you need all of these at level 5 to run your ideal fit.
And Aero said unto his children, "LET THERE BE A REGISTRY"

Alright, I have a fit figured out
Commando Mk.0
2 x complex armor repairers 1 x complex shield recharger 1 x basic shield recharger Boundless Combat Rifle EK-A2 Breach Mass Driver Duvolle focused active scanner*
260 armor 300 shield 13.76 HP/sec(armor) 32.8 HP/sec (shield) 4.25 m/sec (ground speed)
Can you go over and make sure I did the math right? Please?
Not sure I will do scanner * I might end up doing nanohives/injectors. What are your thoughts?

So I think I've got a solid commando ck 0 fit.
Kaalakiota rr Kaalakiota Sniper
Compact nanohive
Shield energizer (whatever level I have by the time 1.8 hits ^.^) 3x complex shield extenders 1 complex armour rep (or reactive plates)
Seems like a fast moving, long range monster and with all those shields, I'll be able to regen pretty fast (provided I survive the initial fight )
EDIT: forgot to add a shield energizer
And on a side note, what should I get? Complex armour reps? Or complex reactive plates?

Speaking of which, should we start up a commando squad tonight?

I started using the Caldari Commando today and man am I loving the thing, went 26/8 one ambush. I feel like I am dying a tad more than I would like though and don't even know if I am using the Commando right, so I will probably send an application later today so you guys can teach me how to be a proper Commando.
Hope to talk to you guys soon.

A few tips that might help you out.
Pick weapons that both compliment your playstyle, but allow you to adapt to any situation as it pops up.
Keep to a range. You aren't designed to be a close range attacking unit, your best feature is your range and higher HP values.
Keep firing. The more bullets you put onto an enemy location the less likely they are to attempt to fight back.

Well true pretty much has summed it up, but the cal commando is definitely a long rabged fighter, urban combat and cqc fighting is your weakness, i suggest using a rr on all of your calmando fits.
Hope this helps :)

Knowing this and this alone would have saved so many deaths yesterday..........
I was thinking RR and ARR would be a nice combo, but do you think there is something better than that that would work, like a combat rifle or something? I wanted to maximize the effectiveness of my bonus without using a sniper rifle so that was the only option really. |
