One of the advantages of being a scout is being able to fire first against an opponent with superior health and come out on top once the opponent begins to fire back because of this element of surprise. However with the changes to assaults and heavys this may no longer work out.
What happens when you fire on an assault and he turns and flamb+¬s your @$$ because his weapon has a far superior RoF?
The way I usually deal with heavys is to first employ the sneaky grenade attack before I start firing at him. Well that is pretty much a thing of the past. Not only that but weapons are being made less effective against heavies as well.
What I think needs to be done is to add some kind cost efficiency to the clocking device that is dependant on what frame size you are warring. If you are warring a light frame you should be able to get off several shots before decloacking (I also think that this should be dependant on damage output, so if you are firring a scrambler pistol you would get off less shots than say an AR. If you are in a med frame this would be considerably less maybe one or two rounds before you decloack. A heavy would be imediate. This could work as a depletion of the cloack's health bar (whatever you want to call it).
I think that the ability to fire while cloacked may be an edge that scout will need, but that this should not translate as well, or perhaps at all, to other frame sizes.

scouts should be able to fire while cloaked. Not all your bullets just a certain amount
All other suits should instantly go into cloak cooldown when they shoot

How about if you want to shoot with a rail tank, you need to be able to be shot back at.

Personally I think the Scout should be the only suit capable of running a cloak. There is no problem with being shot by a cloaked scout, the kills they will make with cloak won't be any different from the usual MO.
The absolute maximum you can fire should be no more than 6 AR rounds, or 1 shotgun, or 1 Sniper, or 1 MD etc etc. However I do believe scouts should get a second equipment slot now to encourage use of 1 cloak and 1 equipment.

A few things:
First, the scout will be the only suit able to fit the cloaking device without taking a big hit on other modules.
Second, one should NOT be able to shoot during cloak (I am a GalScout), because it will be too easily abused. Imagine a sniper running a cloak and popping off rounds from complete safety (or a FG sniper GOD FORBID). I think if they allowed suits to shoot from the cloaked state, everyone would have one overnight, not caring about the reduction to other modules.
The cloak will be excellent for sneaking up on tanks and snipers, though.
Common sense will prevail. Adapt or die.

Sorry, but I'm having second thoughts on this idea. After a lot of thought, I'm a dedicated scout by the way,I feel its best to require the cloak to fully deactivate before using any weapon.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

We seem to agree on a lot of things haha
Scouts most definetly need to be able to shoot off at least one shot while cloaked. With the current TTK, the assault bonuses, especially on the gallente will be able to tank >2 shots from a shotgun, one shot while the scout is cloaked, one more if the scout is lucky and has prof5 shotguns. After the first shot, the assault will already be spinning while firing 20 rounds per second dealing 80 damage per round with a spray and pray aim-assisted weapon, effectively 5 shotting a proto max tanked scout, or a little over 1/2 of a second (.25 seconds to turn, .25 seconds to kill the scout)
Just my opinion.
The scout shouldnt be able to indefinetly remain in cloak and fire the assault rail rifle and SMG at the same time, but one shot from a shotgun sounds reasonable
Yes, I did kill Archduke Ferdinand. I used my nova knives.

No one is suggesting the ability to fire indefinitly while. And as of right now I do believe that firring while cloacked is a reality.

I absolutely believe that you should have to reveal yourself to fire a weapon. A big part of my game is going into the open when camping and protecting a null. I goto the open and circle around here and there to see any scouts I can't scan. I have to do this because hiding in a single spot gives an easy kill. When I'm out in the open circling around and you fire from cloak and remained cloaked while i'm trying to find you is absolutely bull ish. I don't mind a single free shot or a full .5 seconds or 1 second of firing while uncloaking but that is the limit. I should not be penalized for not being able to see or detect you no matter my effort in the wide open. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
If you are going to fire a weapon then you should not be cloaked.
In addition, I think flux grenades should reveal them too. If you are hiding by a spawn point or a nanohive and I toss something that effectively elimenates them such as a flux grenade then it should shut off your cloak as well. |

Unless the Scout crawls towards the objective you are guarding (or you are blind) you should see the shimmer, not to mention the reticule will still turn red.
They will only be able to get one shot of fromba high alpha weapon and half a dozen from a high ROF weapon (I imagine) if you are in a heavy suit this won't be a problem.
I think fluxes should certainly use up alot of the cloaks alloted charge, like 70% but not quite instant decloaking.

I'm a dedicated scout and I have concluded that cloaks are a terrible idea in general.
They are going to be so OP that they will get nerfed into the ground.
OR
They are going to be so limited that they are almost pointless on the scout.
I feel with the pigeon holing of all scouts into cloaks CCP just doomed the class. Surely there were better ideas then make all scouts reliant only in the cloak. |

From CCP Remnant
- The cloak field is a piece of equipment. - When selected the cortex is raised and you press fire to activate it. - Once activated, it goes away and your weapon is raised. You can switch to other weapons/equipment while cloaked. - You cloak. The amount of "shimmer" is increased as you move so standing still you will be nigh invisible, but when moving you will be noticeable to an extent. When cloaked, you obviously have no chevron or health bars, but the enemy reticule will flash red if you run past it. - Cloak can be deactivated by selecting it and pressing fire. - Once deactivated or it runs out it will start to recharge. - Firing a weapon while cloaked will rapidly deplete the cloak field (a single shot from a sniper rifle, for instance, will decloak you) - You can only fit one cloak field at a time.
