If you're complaining about getting scanned, maybe you should get good at this game. I'm being serious.
On one of my alts with around 3.5 mil SP, I don't run dampeners. Instead I run an Amarr Logi with RS-90 CR, basic SMG, 3x basic shield extenders, 2x basic plates, 1x basic armor repairer, A-45 Scanner, basic REs, and K-2 nanohives. Not a very "tanky" suit by any means, but I still manage 3.0+ KDR in most games while lone wolfing, even against proto squads who keep scanning me.
How? Because I use proper cover and good positioning, scan them back, set RE traps for them, etc. Just because you get scanned doesn't mean your tactics go out the window; it just means you lose the element of surprise. If the element of surprise were the only way to win this game, then we'd see a whole lot more scout shotties on the field. |

You're saying that new players are going to get stomped by proto squads who use scanners, because new players shouldn't be expected to immediately skill into profile dampeners all the way to proto when so many other things take priority, and use less SP.
New players will get stomped by proto squads regardless. It happened during shared team vision and it's happening during shared squad vision with scanners. Sometimes vet players also get stomped by proto squads, even if they have dampening up.
In some games, you just CAN'T win, due to how the teams are stacked. As a lone wolfer you know this. So instead of throwing your body at the enemy and losing tons of suits, you have to play smart, hang back, and engage only on your terms. You can do this even if you get scanned. |

If they're getting stomped even more than pre-1.4, it's because they aren't scanning back.
If you don't know where the enemy is and they know where you are, you're pretty much screwed.
Newberries need to band together in squads and make sure they have people scanning, if only to have everyone pointed in the direction of the oncoming enemy. |

Draw back LOL. If you get caught with your pants down like that, you deserve to die.
It actually is a drawback, and it happens to the best of us. For instance when you scan and someone decloaks from an uplink you didn't see, or when a dampened enemy catches you with your scanner out.
But my point from before still stands; if you can't dodge scans, the next best thing is to scan people back. Scanners are the single most important piece of equipment you can have, and every squad needs to use one, preferably more than one.
If you are lone wolfing, especially without dampeners, you definitely need a scanner. |
