Some of you have a great name and others are just plain weird 
Feel free to explain why you chose your mercs name here and of course I will start things off 
Name: Otrera
Occupation: Warrior, Patron Goddess of the Amazons
Identity: The general populace of Earth is unaware of the existence of Otrera except as a mythological deity.
Known Relatives: Zeus (possible father), Harmonia (possible mother), Otreus (possible half-brother), Hippolyta, Antiope, Penthesilia, Hiera (daughters by Ares)
History: Otrera is the ancestral mother-goddess of the Amazon tribes of Earth. Her exact parentage is unrevealed, but by one account, she is the daughter of Zeus, ruler of the gods of Olympus, and Harmonia, the goddess of order, and future Queen of Thebes. In one account, she is referred to as the daughter of Gaea, the ancestral mother of all the gods of Earth. Another tradition links her to the throne of Phrygia, either the sister or daughter of King Otreus, a son of Poseidon. I've always been ViralEnsign_ as long as I can remember but I like two part names when I play games.
I eventually picked the name True Adamance because of Truth and an Adamant spirit are aspects of character that I like.
It helped at the time I was playing monster hunter on the Wii and was chowing down on adamant seeds like they was candy.....
After that I realised True Adamance is not really a name, though it could be an alias, and thus Kador Ouryon, my mercs real name was born.
To a Texan like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Gunlogi.

I figured it would be easily recognized (good and bad), and if I ended up loving the game, I'd love the name, and if I ended up hating the game, I'd love the irony of the name. So, it stuck, and I think I've been around since May 25, 2012.
Come to think of it, I started as Khazra Khali'un, which was a direct descendent within my characters family, boring RP **** :p So, whenever we had to change names, is as long as I've been DUST Fiend.

My name mostly came from the Ace Combat series. My character was originally inspired by Solo Wing Pixy from Galm team in Ace Combat Zero.
I figured the name "Galm Pixy" wouldn't sound too threatening charging at you in a tank so I decided to use the more traditional word 'fae,' which seemed passable for a Caldari last name.
In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then I also love him.

Leonid Tybalt is, in my mind, the clone brother of my Eve character Cyrus Tybalt (who has taken a vacation from being a starship pilot until I get around to getting a nee computer).
Cyrus Tybalt was also the name of an NPC in a scenario I wrote and GM:ed with my friends in Warhammer 40.000 Roleplay: Dark Heresy. Who in turn was the clone brother of my player character in the same game.
So in my own personal character mythos that spreads through several fictional settings, theres a sort of fraternal clone connection that binds them all together. |

I dislike thinking of names so I just borrow them from Mythology and Religion but try to never reuse any (which means I've already exhausted Greek and Nordic names and now am using Indian deities).
Krom is from Crom who was a god in the Conan lore as well as a being in Irish myth
Ganesh is an Indian god with the head of an elephant (often spelt Ganesha)
Shakti is also an Indian god
Ishii is a refrence to O-Ren Ishii from Kill Bill

The Duncan Idaho character is from the Dune books by Frank Herbert - Duncan Idaho was a guy who got cloned over and over basically, and appears in all the books. He's a highly trained, bad-ass fighter.

I wanted to create something unique for my Dust 514 merc and after reading up on Minmatar lore I decided Atheor (as in Atheist) would be fitting because they basically don't really believe in a 'god' which is probably because of the Amarr thing going on.
Sindromer as in sinning in a biblical sense since I'm continuously murdering other mercs and also because my PSN ID is Syndromes and it kind of resembles that.
Love the sinner, hate the Sindromer.

I wanted to name my character "Uccello" after the florentine painter Paolo Uccello. I believe it also means "bird" in italian.
Thought it would be an ellegant and cool name for a scout themed merc, but it was already taken.
So instead of using numbers as letters, i just changed it to "Ucell". Sounds pretty badass for me. |

Vulcanus is the latin name of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. I am neither Roman nor a god but I thought it sounded cool. I also like descriptive names (like Mike the Strong, Jean the Oblivious or Bojo the Mighty for that matter) so I added Lightbringer because that's what I (try to) do. Spot the enemy, relay that information to my teammates and then if possible make the enemy see the light.

No. I have been using the name FrozenChaos7 since i first got an xbox 360 back in 2006-2007 (FrozenChaos had already been taken so i added my favorite number to the end)
Once i dropped xbox for playstation i picked that user name back up as my psn around 2010
then around 2012 when i started playing Dust I decided to continue using the name i had grown fond of over the years
I actually havnt thought of or even considered using the word 'Chilled' in any name i have ever made, it just doesnt sound cool enough for my taste... |

I've always used "Operator" or "The Operator" as a handle, I added "el" when creating a login for MGO2, since both of my other usuals were taken. I carried it over to DUST as that. Its a comfortable name for me and I think aptly describes who I am and what I do.

My name comes from the game Shadow of the Colossus(one of my favorite games of forever). Each Colossi has several unofficial names. My favorite Colossi, number 16, is named Malus or Grandis Supernus. My name, Supernus Gigas, means Celestial Giant or Star Giant, which is appropriate as I am a Heavy in a Space-Sci-Fi setting. Also my Corporation, is appropriately named Star Giants. Although as it currently stands my corp only consists of four members, me and two of my alts and my friend that plays Dust 514, but no matter, we have fun.

All of my characters have Wyvern as a last name. I like how it makes them seem like a family group, and I never have to explain that I'm using an alt.
The first name is a reference to the player-character of Ace Combat 04, "Mobius One", which I decided upon when I first got into the beta because I planned to spec into Fighters. I've been a fan of the series for 12 years now, and I was looking forward to having another game to fly in.

My other far east name is close to Regia not in characters only a tail.
